Hey Ankie, What does this new handle look like? I have what was called a "low profile" handle on my Wings, which is a little over 2 years old. Just curious about the shape/size since I don't think I'd want anything with a lower profile than what I already have. (And I have small hands!)

Would Like to welcome Justaflygirl to the Cutaway Club!

Glad you got back in the air again. -
3:6:0 one 3-day weekend, yahoo! 6 jumps, ranging from 4-ways to a 19-way. Couldn't jump Saturday afternoon, but squeezed some in yesterday. (I suck at outside center, it's windy out there, lol)
-
hehe...I'm wondering what "D.I.P." stands for...(intermediate 4-way). Knowing Laura and the other girls, I'm sure it's something naughty 1st round intermediate scores are creeping in on omniskore. And some of the bios are amusing.

You missed an interesting 11-way recurrency dive today, lol. (we're all feeling pretty uncurrent, given the onslaught of hurricanes!) We also had a flat tire. Too many 200+ pounders in the plane maybe?

Hey there, Custom colored toggles are pretty pointless. I've seen some interesting colored toggles and blocks on CRW rigs, but chances are you aren't doing CRW yet. :) If I had to pay for a rig, I'd skip those...the typical yellow ones are fine. The other thing that jumped out at me: Pillow reserve handles are really not recommended for new jumpers! I have my own reasons for sticking with a metal handle, even after having had 3 mals, but I'll defer to those with thousands of jumps and let them speak about the risks/benefits here. Please do not make this decision because of the words of a few 100-200 jump wonders who started freeflying right off of AFF. (not saying you've done this...just trying to make the point that a pillow reserve handle is not just any old option, to be chosen based on cost or cash flow. Please speak with your instructors and others who are respected in the industry). Articulated harnesses are almost always more comfortable and articulated rigs have a higher resale value as well. Free cut-ins? Go for it. RSL? YES. Spend the $30 and then many jumps from now when you're jumping smaller, faster canopies, jumping camera, doing CRW or whatever....you could always disconnect it if warranted. Piping, stripes etc...yes...if you have the cash and you want a cool-looking rig, go for it. You didn't mention anything about the pilot chute. Were these quotes including a collapsible pilot chute with a hackey? (pretty standard equipment) If it is, then the quote doesn't seem too far off from the norm, considering what you listed as options. I've worked for Sunrise and even though it's been almost two years since I left, I'm still jumping a Wings.

RSL or No RSL? (Detached From: Wings Container Question)

Do you think you're likely to be spininng wildly under your Sabre 170 at 1.09:1? (If indeed your profile info is up to date) I'm not trying to be sarcastic. I'm really curious what your expectation is. -
a couple of hot wings some nachos and alhlocol yeehaww i don't golf but i can help at a golf tournment, which i did!!

What insurance company do you have? My sister had two trees go through her house on Sunday. Tons of damage....we think it might be easier for them to just bulldoze the house then try to fix everything. She has Citizen's (it's nearly impossible to get anything else in our county) and was told it could be more than three weeks before an adjustor comes out.

There were two other witnesses.

Bit by a dog... And then he saved a kitty from a damaged house! Awwwww....

15:0:5 15 minutes of tunnel (it'd been a while - i was flying like an idiot!) 0 jumps (reserve got repacked on sat and then i did whuffo stuff) 5-mile run. in the heat. ugh. i think i'll stick to treadmills when it's 85 degrees or warmer out. it was a good weekend, despite the lack of jumps!
-
Bill, Guess we won't be jumping at all this weekend...at least not at Z-hills. The Otter went back to the Ranch already. (I just got home and saw TK's email) I will have to search for other forms of stress relief.
-
I still think tornados are scarier than hurricanes. At least with a hurricane you have time to prepare/run.

grrrr, job opportunity ruined by potential relative

You're probably better off not working for that company - it's a glimpse of their stupidity. A certain city's chamber of commerce pulled a similar act on me....and now I'm glad I never worked there! -
My power is finally back! **happy dance**

Ugh. Hang in there, Stacy. Lost power at my house last night around 1am...god knows when it'll be back. Lots of trees and power lines down in Dade City. (about 10 minutes north of Z-hills/Skydive City) Thankfully no damage to my roof or anything. We got a lot of wind up there, and then this afternoon the buckets of rain started. Skydive City looks pretty good. Didn't see any trailer damage during a quick drive through...just lots of standing water. And it's still raining. (At a friend's house right now....they have TV and hot food!)

I'm bored. Got any really bad jokes, Randy?
-
Yeah, they think it will strengthen again, but we'll see. The track is close to home right now, but that could change as well. So I'm really not too concerned about it at this point. (If I was on the east coast I'd be concerned though) Funny that the schools here are closed today. Perfect blue skies out there right now.

I didn't think the ad was disrespectful...It was just a little disconcerting to flip the first pages and see a quote by someone who had just died. (I didn't know her but I'd heard the name) And then the two memorial pages for other jumpers. And a couple of fatality reports. It's a depressing issue. (but serves as a good reminder to take this sport seriously) Condolences to her friends and family.

5 jumps. Took the Scott Miller course yesterday. It was a lot of fun and I plan to keep practicing his tips for my landings and about flying in brakes. I now know what full stalls feel like.

You'd have swarms of satiated termites.

------------------------------------------------------------ I'm not sure that's possible.

Jeez. I didn't know they could force a guy to pay child support when it isn't his kid. (proven by DNA) That's insane. Maybe guys don't have it as easy as I thought.

from m-w.com: Main Entry: 2human Function: noun : a bipedal primate mammal (Homo sapiens) : MAN; broadly : any living or extinct member of the family (Hominidae) to which the primate belongs - hu·man·like /-m&n-"lIk/ adjective (emphasis mine) So, if you want to go by strict definitions, an infant isn't even human b/c it isn't bipedal yet?? Ok..joking aside... I knew we'd end up debating when life begins, etc. That's fine and dandy.
