It' s niet als dat belediging door Quade wordt beschouwd als in een andere taal.

Why does it matter why Jo thinks? There are lots of people that think crazy things. Jo: You've been sounding a lot more "put together" the last couple weeks. I hope it's because your health is better, and maybe it sounds like you've got some things going on in your life. Heck: Jo's been at it so long, I think it's probably best if she just sticks with it. I mean why stop now? It's not going to kill her. Heck it might keep her alive! Yahoo! Gotta get your passion from something, even if it's a tree up your butt!

I think maybe Lyle just didn't understand the science. Or maybe he's more of a faith-based thinker, and the science didn't sway him. Can't argue with the facts. Or with a propeller for that matter. Ask a dolphin. (edit) Jo would agree that Gunther's book is a key part of the evidence that Tom ignored for some reason. Maybe he didn't want to pay for the book? I would have lent him mine.

I've read what accounts I could find of tree landings. I've not read of any anal penetrations. Are they common in tree landings? Do farmers die if they go outside in the rain in these conditions? I suppose they can only stay outside for 10-15 minutes at a time. That would work.

If I was an inexperienced comic-book collector, what kind of shoes would I jump in? (edit) Jerry, are you saying you think Cooper would have been disabled when he landed in the muddy farm fields? I've never jumped, so wouldn't know. I guess I forgot how you pinpointed his LZ.
-
Hi Jerry. That sounds right. Do you have information about Cooper's shoes? I was looking at some pictures of jumpers from back then, and their shoes. Got me wondering how well a civilian could distinguish between good shoes and bad shoes. Hmm. The Vietnam HALO guys broke bones no matter what shoes they wore. Just reading that, makes me think that shoes were a small part of the matter, in terms of injury possibility. Who decided shoes were a primary issue, Jerry? I would think the possibility of landing in a tree (night) dwarfs that concern. (edit) And if Jerry's correct, why did the FBI talk to Rex Jaco?? And why was Carr pursuing a loadmaster???? A loadmaster is military? Wouldn't know about shoes though?? Doesn't make sense to me.

http://www.skydivewithjohn.com/documents/HistoryofHALOOperations.pdf I looked for Frank Norbury. I think he mostly did training and jumpastering? I'm not sure he did any of the combat jumps we discussed. Frank was one of the "most respected freefall instructors at Fort Bragg, ..dispatched to Long Thanh to lend his assistance. Together with another freefall specialist, Master Sergeant Harry Denny, he created the Norden light..." etc etc. Look at the url and search for "Frank" He, along with Harry Denny, Cliff Newman, Melvin Hill, George Zacker and "a handful of other HALO specialists, had established a freefall course at Long Thanh and began training a mixed class of Americans and South Vietnamese" he's listed as jumpmaster on at least one of the combat HALOs.

377 mused "Any guesses? Or do they just shoot from the hip based on preconceived unproven theories about who Cooper was? " There are a couple rules on the yellow postit notes in the cubicles in Seattle 1) If it comes from DZ.com, it's wrong. 2) Unless it involves comic books; then it's right. 3) Tom Kay is the lead Citizen Scientist. 4) But ignore what he says on TV. At the monthly all-hands meeting, the troops are exhorted to get out there, and find the kid with the dead uncle, who found his comic books. I wonder how much old Dan Cooper comic books are worth? The documentary had some real ones there...did the FBI buy some? or did someone else? Or was Cooper found and those are Cooper's comic books???? Hey the Sham Wow guy is good (just arrested recently though) Billy Mays just died. A true Pitchman. RIP.

His main is a steerable one, looks like a T mod. I think S/L paratroopers had non steerable canopies, but not sure about gear in SE Asia. 377 Yeah, the Thailand thing is interesting. The pics were posted on a SF page, so I assume the guy was SF. He must have trained or been stationed in Thailand for a while, then joined a Mike Force in Kontum. Those Mike Forces look like they were loaded for bear. Impressive weapons (did you see the SAW or whatever that was with the bipod)

Canada? How old is this estate agent ? We have all assumed that Dan Cooper was a fictitious name. What if it wasn't?!! :) check the url I provided. Not. remember there's a "Duane Weber" that sells insurance in Washington too. http://www.google.com/search?q=%22duane+weber%22+insurance+washington (edit) I wonder if Dan Cooper the Canadian real estate agent, ever bought insurance from Duane Weber the Washington insurance guy, for a houseboat docked behind Caterpillar Island? (edit) and another thing: why the peak in searches on "hijacking" in Johannesburg...it leads the list http://www.google.com/trends?q=hijacking Everything comes back to South Africa.

I'm not sure of the accuracy but google trends for websites shows dropzone.com with declining unique visitors since 2007 http://trends.google.com/websites?q=dropzone.com&geo=all&date=all
-
another good metric is Google Trends http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22db+cooper%22&ctab=0&geo=all&date=all&sort=0 "dan cooper" result is similar: http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22dan+cooper%22 (funny: oakville, canada is interested in "dan cooper"...looks like there's a real estate agent in oakville named "dan cooper" here: http://www.dancooper.com/ You can see the spike in searches from when Carr first announced the FBI was looking at the case again, and when the parachute was found. But searches have declined since then. The data might not be in yet for the "Nat Geo effect"..but I'm guessing there will be no spike. (edit) One could debate if a better Nat Geo documentary, with more real science, and more presentation of possibilities and real facts, might have stimulated searches.. the parachute was real. People react to that. The documentary didn't have anything real. Just opinions (like the last 40 years)

ran into a site that had some nice high quality photos from the vietnam era. I always like a variety for context. These are mostly from the Thailand area, I believe. But Kontum is Vietnam. Funny one with a jumper with two canopies out. Oops! Some are just random guys, since I've always said we don't look at enough pics of guys from back then, so any pic we see now, feels "like Cooper" just cause we don't see enough other ones. Lots of skinny ties in the ODA16 shot...

Do it! I need a good laugh ... why would you laugh? Are you thinking it's not possible? Or is it the act of someone doing a model? Jerry already did it. He has a mental model that says those actions will cause Cooper stuff to be found before Himmelsbach dies. Are you laughing at Jerry? Or are you laughing at the idea of putting an informal model into numbers? Or just laughing?

I think he tossed the bomb stuff before he jumped. Whether he kept the briefcase is an open question. I dont think it would float for long if it went in the water. It would be easy to test. Why not after he jumped? Yes we should test if brief cases float. In a hurricane. Funny you guys should mention this. I did a drop test of a briefcase with money, using a pnuematic air cannon on the bottom of a home made UAV. Results attached after ground impact. I had to use some recent twenties because of poor availablity of vintage bills.

I have no info on what you searched Jerry, so I'm agreeing I don't know. Are you saying you just followed streams, and only a little way out from streams? When you say it's not navigable by humans, how do you know the state of affairs in 1971? I guess it would be nice to have old photos.

the "only on weekends" model for 40 weeks a year for 20 years may be questionable. But I used the information that "Shelly must be kept satisfied" to assume he couldn't stay in the field for that long..It would be interesting if Jerry kept a log..of his search..not encounters with Shelly.

Jerry said "SchlitznGrins.I have covered 75%of the area. Bear in mind that the area I have covered is the area I or, the drop zone most people believe, Cooper landed in. Most of the terain ,I have covered." I've attached a simple model of Jerry's search capabilities. It represents the most Jerry could have searched, I believe. Correct any numbers I used. The actual search may be down to 50% of this. I think 36 sq miles is a reasonable rough estimate for the maximum amount Jerry could have searched. I'm assuming a "search" as described by Jerry, where he's looking for small things on the surface of the ground, in rough terrain, on foot. See attached. This is quick, so feedback encouraged.

we could break up any target area into the max zoomed-in currently available satellite photos from google, and shade out searched areas. I really doubt Jerry could have searched much. But we won't agree on a good target area in any case. (edit) based on Jerry's expected ground speed and search swath (eyeball visibility), and guesses at the amount of time per year, I could come up with an estimate for the amount of square footage Jerry might have covered, and work out it's percentage of a theorized target area. Hey maybe could post the first Excel spreadsheet to the thread. That would be a new format for info :) Also: Jerry proposed a model based on new inhabitants and their walking patterns, randomly exposing Cooper before Himmelsbach dies. We could model that probability? might have to get Orange1 involved though.

They have to be less than 300KB, otherwise it will reject them. It's best to resize them using photoshop or an equivalent tool. Since they're likely jpg files, you want to use the minimum compression that will still keep it under 300KB. Alternatively, windows xp has some ways to resize things that you can set up, but don't give you as much control. Most cameras nowadays take very high resolution by default, so you'll probably have to crop and/or change compression. A nice free tool for organizing photos, with some resize and edit capability is Picasa from Google. Is the photo 300KB or less already?

Orange1 was taken out by some of the people that were in the Scorpions, that were fired in January, 2009. This was done on orders from ex-CIA personnel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scorpions_(South_Africa) The rumor is, that the Scorpions were disbanded as a result of info leaked on DZ.com about the South Africa nuke program, and it's connection to MKULTRA, Cooper, CIA and Vietnam. Naturally, they have a grudge as a result.

Schlitz says "Maybe Carr brainwashed him." MKULTRA lives!

If we're going to pressure anyone to release evidence, it should be Tom. Basically the same game is going on there..hints of data, evidence, stuff. Release of theories that are immediately denied. Promises of "just wait till the paper is published and then I'll disclose fully." I know you guys like Tom, but if you step back and look at it, Tom and Jo are playing the same game. (Tom not so bad, and not for so long). Tom is different though, because the FBI gave him dollar bills. No one else on the planet got dollar bills from the FBI. (except Brian, by court order) I expect this post will be considered mentally unbalanced and/or hateful, or a troll. I'm not sure how to judge it's success as a troll, since people post no matter what I post. So is a troll necessary? (edit) "A lying petty crook conned you into thinking he was a big shot A list mastermind criminal, a folk hero and yes, actually an admired person in the eyes of many." Hey! I'm busted!

okay thanks Jo. Yeah, just random coincidences. They happen and can be disconcerting. It would be really really strange if it turned out Duane was in any way involved with the Cooper thing. It seems so unlikely. He definitely wasn't the jumper. I was wondering if Cooper lived, if it was possible that Duane somehow got an inkling of the story from Cooper. Waugh and Peterson were good suspects if you believe in those kinds of profiles. (funny how people have different reactions to "naming" possible suspects. Anyone "named" is most likely not Cooper, so what's the big deal?) What the heck, any profile could be right I guess. Ckret's profile might be correct. I really need to let go of this. What's amazing to me, is that more than 1 year later, there is no information or reasoning that didn't exist when I started here. Basically everything is exactly the same as it was. None of Ckret's theories are more or less plausible than anything else. No new evidence or data revealed. For all this talk of the FBI revealing new info, it's gone nowhere, really. (edit) Same with "dream team". No evidence, data or even new theories. (propeller I guess is new) I guess I learned some things. It's really hard for me to understand why Jerry is so confident he'll find something from Cooper in the woods somewhere. Jerry's confident about his water theory and flight path. If Jerry is confident about it, why not Tom? (or is Tom?) Nothing makes sense. We get a documentary made, and we basically discount everything in it in 48 hours. (although, Ckret got by with his comic books..although he no longer said loadmaster or ANY profile, really. He went light on saying Cooper was an idiot, and offering no theory other than Cooper probably died. (didn't say in water or land or what..mostly based on not finding anything..although I didn't understand that reasoning).
