  1. OK, I'm not super qualified to answer here but I have 250 jumps on my 21-98 at 2:1 and probably 25 on a 27-94. If I could do it again I'd get the 27, it's way more rigid, turns much faster, is trimmed flatter and flies faster. The 21 definitely opens sweeter though. All just my impressions from a few years ago, I haven't jumped my 21 for a couple of years as it's not really an ideal wingsuit canopy. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  2. Spencer died in March 2005, probably only a few Snohomish jumpers remember him. I wish I had spent more time with him, he was one of the good guys. To a peaceful man, RIP Spencer. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  3. Lead is not that bad.*** Oh. So all that stuff we hear about the toxicity of lead, particularly in children, must be BS from a bunch of know-nothings. My perception is that lead poisoning may have affected your ability to reason. Might want to get that checked out. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  4. What is freestyle? Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  5. If you're trying to reduce lead exposure, which is a good idea, it may still be possible to buy copper plated lead shot. Ask at your local gun shop. All the weight of lead without the lead dust especially if you wash it before bagging it. Also I have a couple of sets of ankle weights bought at local sporting goods shop. Nicely sewn in flat cordura bags and inexpensive, available in various weights. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  6. Well you sure got your money's worth out of that jump.
  7. Most people seem surprised when I say that between skydiving, BASE, SCUBA, climbing and snowboarding that SCUBA seems for me to be the highest risk. Statistics aren't neccessarily useful, how do you compare one five-minute skydive to one hour-plus SCUBA dive? Are you an "average" Joe? Complex sports, simple perceptions. In any case it ain't tiddlywinks kids. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  8. Let me be more clear on this Scott, THE POLICY INCLUDES BASE. Anything else I can explain for you? Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  9. I wanna go too, you can use me as a drogue!
  10. Sissy! Hasn't Luigi landed a 39 square foot canopy? Well Rob, I'm just too fat to do that. But not quite as fat as the guy that flies your canopy. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  11. What, the offer doesn't include dinner? If I ever have the time I'm gonna take you up on that Ed. Since I'd build a canopy around 75 sq ft the reserve ride is kind of a given. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  12. If I was going to build a canopy I'd build a small non-crossbraced design. Save material and labor. Then I'd get someone else to test jump it. Seriously I would only build a canopy to test my own design not to confirm my fabrication skills. And I'd probably build a matching wingsuit while I was at it. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  13. Most people aren't used to seeing a stiletto doing a 360 hook anymore. A nice hard diving slowish stiletto type hook turn will scare all spectators.Quote True dat. Being constantly bitched at for low hooks is one of the reasons I quit jumping Stilettos. The other reason is the low hooks. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  14. Yea, and the really fucked up thing is you can run a paraglider off of El Cap and be legal but if you jump you're a criminal. Quote Not. If that was true then the valley would be crammed with paragliders. It isn't. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  15. $500k is a lot, it's also proporitonally the same as the quote I had but mine included SCUBA and BASE. Mine would be even more now because I've fallen into the next age bracket since the quote. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  16. Farmers would set me up with a policy, I've forgotten exactly and I didn't have the $ but it was around $200/mo. for $350k including skydiving, BASE, SCUBA etc. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  17. Four two-ounce weights? I'd hate to get hit by a slider weighing over a half pound. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  18. I have a Xaos with two sliders, sliders are identical size but one has brass grommets, the other has stainless grommets and is noticeably heavier. The brass-grommeted slider is so light that it often hangs up about 3' above the links (a friend with the identical setup finally cut a 3 1/2" hole in his slider to fix this problem, it had no major effect on his openings) while the stainless-grommeted slider has no problem coming down. I never noticed any difference in my openings at all. If I wanted to make my slider stay up longer to slow the openings I would either have pockets installed on the slider or use a slider with a larger chord. Make small changes, consult manufacturers, riggers etc. and remember that you're a guinea pig. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  19. I can't imagine why video wasn't shot by a wingsuit flier. Interesting design though using a low wing, Yves is still my rigid wing hero. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  20. +1 Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  21. ***http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nk2wViKSh_M Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  22. Quote How Low Can You Fly a Wing Suit? Low enough skydiving that the local BASE jumpers think you're an asshole. Even lower if you BASE the suit. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  23. If you like your canopy and plan on keeping it for a while get the new lineset, not only will you not regret it but more likely you'll wonder why you waited. Also discuss your openings with PD, they will reccommend solutions that will satisfy you. Sometimes you eat the bear..............

    Sabre

Contact PD, they are really helpful. If you get a timeline please post it, I'm sure several people would be interested. I think my oldest Sabre is a '94, my canopies aren't at hand or I'd look. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
  25. Well, here's a whole 'nother way to look at this. The abrasive particles that adhere to a substance like wax on a line won't really hurt the lines directly, the wax will keep the abrasives on the outside, away from the line. Unfortunately everything that the abrasive coated line contacts will be abraded. Just like sandpaper, the paper doesn't wear quickly but everything the abrasive rubs against is affected. Like other lines, grommets, fabric etc. Sometimes you eat the bear..............
