Personally, I find that tone quite refreshing. They're not going to be politically correct to get your money. Good on 'em. +1

Real men have hunting rifles and use them for hunting. But we don't have the same extent of gun crime that is prevailent in america.Quote I would love to visit NZ! It's always been on my list of places to visit.

High Altitude Chamber Training Information
Beerlight replied to NWFlyer's topic in Safety and Training
Looks like the web site has been updated to reflect that classes are currently only offered in Oklahoma. I forgot about this thread. Yes, the Air Force stopped training for civilians a several months ago. Something about budget/training loads. -
We, over at the NBL are in layoff mode also, and it's tough to see friends go. My contract is ok for now, but ya never know. Good luck on future endeavors... !

Houston sucks, Austin rocks! Congrats!

It's all good and my apologies. I'm sure you are gonna put on a great presentation for her retirement. I'm definitely the ass on this thread!
-
And your opinion is dated back in the years before mine. Once you spend a shitload of money on computers and software, then develope the skills able to use both to a 10th of their capacity you MIGHT get where Im coming from. It's cool. And I didn't mean it to come off as being an asshole comment but merely an opinion. Things really have changed since I retired 6 years ago I guess.

My vote?? DICKHEAD COMMENT award winner... Don't get mad...I'll cry
-
Not exactly. You had High performance computers back then? Or that YOU YOURSELF had to pay for them? And by "such an act", are you reffereing to this specific example? Make it known, Im NOT asking for compensation in this case. When it comes to me doing the same for people who I dont even REMOTELY know... yeah my time/equipment is worth something. BTW, have YOU personally invested in a bunch of software and time to ever put togeather something that will make the recieving party thankfull... I'm leaning on NO Guess we aren't on the same wavelength. FWIW, I put together I think 7 retirements in my career. Fully...put together. I couldn't think of the amount of time and effort I invested, and not just on a video, cause it was a lot. It's not about that, it's about the experience of it all. Don't get upset at my response. You asked for an opinion, I gave mine.
-
Guess I grew up in a different AF than you did. (We) would do something like that totally out of pride and esprit de corps. After serving 23 years on active duty, I can seriously say, I've never heard of anyone EVER asking for fn' compensation for performing such an act. That clear it up? No need to respond to me. Just think of what you'd like when you retire?
-
Why don 't you give her a copy of this thread you started? Maybe she'll make the decision for you, cause I sure would.

Sounds reasonable, sure...that Heinlein's Razor stuff I'll let BillVon troubleshoot your scenario, he's good at that...

Here's some off-center trivia on their program. Russians will not drink any fluids during an EVA, no matter the length. Go figure. -
Why would you adjust your seat "forward" in cruise flight....? If anything, I'd be moving it aft slightly for a little extra leg room. Nah, this story reeks...

No nitrogen, no nitrogen bubbles. Makes total sense. Of course, you can poison yourself with too much O2, too. Anyone know if decompressing with O2 or post breathing with O2 helps? I know our NASA crews routinely post-breathe with 100% O2 after a pool run. Sometimes they need to fly out in a T-38 for the Cape. I can't remember the exact schedule. I believe there's still a 12 hour surface interval though.. Thats after a dive on NiTrox.
-
This is from an Air Force instruction, 11-403 that I use for work. Personnel must delay altitude chamber and aerial flight exposures for at least 24 hours following compressed air diving. This includes SCUBA (self-contained underwater breathing apparatus) diving, surface supplied diving, or hyperbaric chamber exposure. If the dive requires a decompression stop, recommend 48 hours elapse prior to aerial flight or altitude chamber exposure. EXCEPTION: Pararescue and Combat Control personnel assigned to Air Force Special Operations Command Special Tactics Units will follow guidelines per US Navy Diving Manual, Volumes I and II, on flying after diving restrictions. Specifically, these divers should not fly for 12 hours after sur- facing from a decompression dive or for two hours following a no decompression dive. If aircraft cabin pressure is maintained below 2,300 feet altitude, then flying is permitted immediately after any breathing mixture dive. Flying is permitted immediately after 100-percent oxygen diving.

Free :) And you can go from Flutter to Oh Fuck in about 2 seconds... Enjoy!

Evidently she's not working hard enough, i'd say.

C-182. Engine quit on me after a load was out. Deadsticked it. Little bit of pucker factor but not much. Now for the observer on board, different story :)
