When you think of MacArthur, what's one of the first things that comes to your mind? How his career ended? Sure does to me. Wendy P. Noted. I think of "I shall Return"....
-
Just forced to resign. Maybe not even that, he probably laid his resignation on Obamas table, pleased to do it. And I don't think ANY of his troops think of the General as "disgraced"............ *** The one event that will define his career is missing from his resume? Yet Obama's citizenship is questioned? You guys crack me up. Define his career? Maybe you're right.

Quote So for you guys out there that know him or support him you can either post support in this thread or shoot the little fucker a pm. Quote Will do, we appreciate his service!

And yet, we are purchasing the V/STOL F-35? Makes no sense whatsoever to allocate monies for a plane where there is no requirement for V/STOL.... ah, that's right......the Navy and Marines

You'll need to ask BillVon or Quade that question. I'm sure they'll let you know

Another person that didn't quite understand what the space program was about. Get fucking real...... Tell ya what, tomorrow morning when I step into work, I'll ask two of America's finest astronauts what their views are of the current space program and how they felt as children about NASA when we landed on the moon. Bet you a 100 to 1, it'll be more a resemblance of my take on it versus yours........ Awesome, then find a historian and ask him about what Sputnik did for the US space program and why Kennedy said we were going to the Moon. Space exploration was the sizzle that sold the program to the public, but the entire endeavor was a reaction to intercontinental nuclear capabilities. That is the reason we went into space. You and Bill are like a pack of lawyers. I, ME, loved the thought of going to the moon.. I'm confident I mentioned nada about why the "space race" began, eh? Look, if you don't believe, it's your prerogative. Me, I still believe in it all.

VOR distance, radial calculator?
Beerlight replied to SansSuit's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Good, cept' (and damn it's been a while since I filed a notam for an off-DZ jump), but I don't think you need to figure in the magnetic variation? Just radial off the VOR and distance. Also, make sure you put a ZERO in front of 23 degrees, ie. 023 degrees. Always a three digit.. Have fun! I'm sure some rocket scientist will come along and correct me........ -
How did this thread start? I give up on this thread.... Where are the believers? When I was young I watched us land on the moon. We had vision. We had esprit de corps. We were patriotic, fuck we believed in miracles! Now, everyone is all PC and have their heads stuck so far up the Presidents ass they can't see straight. Sadly, I and most of you reading this will probably not be around to see anybody land on an asteriod or Mars. Peace..........

Bill, we give the Russians millions and millions. So much damn corruption in their program, it's sickening. It's our own damned money that's getting them into space! ugh!
-
Sure, hell we bought the rights to the damn thing! Or some "contractors" did. Besides, we've given wayyyy more than we've ever received. Look, we can argue that we stole technology from the Germans and made it better. But in the end our program will slowly die under the hands of the current adminstration.
-
Ever read Walt Cunningham's book? He can definitely enlighten you on the Russian space program and our help we've given them over the years... It's sickening. And a link to his recent discussion: http://www.talkingspaceonline.com/home/episode-223-a-true-american-hero.html
-
To add one point, Our tax dollars are paying for the Russians to take the lead. What up Channing.......yes, we've paid the Russians for over 30 years. Why stop now I guess! lol
-
Honestly, I don't think you're paying attention to what they're doing. I think it's entirely possible that NASA, in changing their mission from Moon focused to asteroids is a far better use of resources and especially when you consider the possibilities of life and death on the planet. Never mind. It's not worth the effort, my effort. There are always two sides of a coin. I agree to disagree.

Actually... we didn't have the ability to put man in space between 1975 and 1981. True. However that was not really going to be the case. When Apollo 18,19 and 20 (that were scheduled to fly but didn't) were scrubbed, that stopped the wholesale layoffs and lengthened the fly interval. That was just a handful of years after Apollo before Shuttle. We are now talking of what, a 15 year or more gap? Obama is about to layoff over 5000 of your best and brightest. And during a piss poor economy to boot.
-
reply] With only two shuttle missions left, what else is NASA going to do?Quote Sad, isn't it? Alas, we give away our technology and then lay back to watch the Russians take the lead...again. Leadership we don't have anymore. That left with our last administrator AND President.
-
Why do you say he's the worst? He was an astronaut. What am I missing? Our direction definitely comes from the President. Pre-election he stated one thing....post another. Then, he chose a "Yes" man, Bolden. After a press conference I attended, it was quite evident he came aboard namely to be....the yes man. Just because he's an astronaut doesn't qualify him to be the administrator. Here's what I do know. We are losing by the hundreds some of the best brain talent America has to offer. Where are they going you ask? Overseas. I'm watching the mass exodus of talent (I'll soon be next), due to Obamas new "plan". You cannot lay off 5000 people and expect to "ramp it up" if/when we decide to land on an asteroid. I hope we do someday, but can't hang around wondering, will we? We have the means to continue the Space Shuttle AND the Constellation/Orion project. But not the backing..... cheers
-
I didn't really read that article. My opinion was made after I met the man.
-
Bolden is by far the worst administrator we've ever had. A true figure-head hired by the current Presidential adminstration. Obama knew exactly what he was doing in hiring Bolden. He has sailed our organization down the freakin proverbial river. I am done....
