I've watched women after their first jump, be it tandem or IAD, thrilled and excited and bubbling. They hang out for awhile, waiting to be debriefed and get their certificate and basically just enjoying the atmosphere. And then an inappropriate comment is made and heard, and the light dies out of her eyes. Oh, this is that kinda place. What a way to have such an amasing moment destroyed. Whether she had any intention of coming out again or not, what a disappointment. And it only takes the one rotten apple. For that matter, I've heard men who normally aren't pigs say things simply because they don't stop and think about who's around and the consequences. Sorry people, no excuses. THINK! Being with people who value my company and my opinions and my contributions. I find them at the dz, and at work. I'm horribly sensitive to people doing and saying things that make me feel they don't want me around, and I've been known to read too much into a situation. It means the world to me to know that there are a few people out there who might miss me if I were gone. Also, gardening. Bringing a touch of beauty to a living space in a manner that is custodial, not ownership, makes me feel that I'm fitting into the grand scheme of things despite the petty trials of life. No, provincial health care doesn't cover enough for travelling outside of Canada. When I went to Eloy in January, I got extra medical coverage through BCAA, and it didn't cost much. That I would be skydiving didn't impact the premium. The important distinction was that I was not working or competing in the sport, it was just for fun. I don't know how it would affect the premium if you were working or competing. Just make sure your insurance pays any bills up front, and doesn't require you to pay first and then remit the bills.
