Okay, who voted 'Canadian'? I'm terrible at languages, except reading them. I wouldn't mind improving my French, or learning some Spanish, though. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

Yeah. Some days I almost wish the obsession would ease up, so I could think about other things! It's been almost two years now, and the compulsion just keeps getting stronger. And I like it this way. Ah, the gentle miracle of nature, the circle of life, in a snake-eat-bird world. Sounds eminently reasonable to me. Why let some neighbour cat get the spoils? Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

Double reason -I love the Snowbirds. I've seen them perform 9 times now, and still can't get enough of them. I'm enthralled by what they do in the sky. -People who head south for the winter to escape the cold are snowbirds. I never wanted to go south in the winter until I started skydiving. Now I want to spend ALL FREAKING WINTER someplace warm where the planes keep flying and it isn't -20oC at altitude. Normally I just stretch my jaw to the side or swallow, but a couple times I've had to pinch my nose. Hard to do in freefall with a full face Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

I tried everything they had at Square2. I ended up buying an Aviator. I didn't like the full face because on occasion I have trouble equalizing my ears, and with a full face I couldn't relieve the pressure. Hey, I was just gonna start this! Ya beat me to it. 1:3:0 1 foot from the target in the hit'n'chug! Now that I'm getting the accuracy part, I just need to learn how to chug. 3 jumps, mostly working on my sit-fly. I can hold the exit now... We Now Interupt This Thread... *** I'm right in the middle of this progression, so... The CSPA solo means you can jump by yourself without a jumpmaster, to practice stuff. While solo you have to do a series of coach jumps with a coach2 in preparation for your 'A', but can't jump with anyone but coaches and instructors. When you have your 'A', you can jump with anyone 'B' or over, and have to do a series of coach2 jumps to get your 'B'. Until you have your 'B', you're not SUPPOSED to jump with more than one person. Then C and D after that. How's that for the CSPA licenses in a nutshell? *** Push, sounds like a clean breakup, mature on both sides. Enjoy that big airplane. does anyone NOT get nervous when they jump?
Snowbird replied to Newbie's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Like BikerBabe said, it's not the whole idea that makes me nervous now. It's different parts, new things, new circumstances - new pilot, sudden wind picking up, that kind of thing. I'm totally opposite! I'm so pumped to get in the air that the first jump is just 'let me out!' The more jumps I do, the more I remember that I'm another jump closer to my first malfunction. The exception to this is if it's been longer than normal between jumps. Then my stomach can become a nasty ball of lead. What are the factors that you pick a DZ?
Snowbird replied to kyros1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I don't actually have many choices. I love my home dz and usually jump here because it's close and I love the people. If I choose to drive and go elsewhere, cheaper jumps are great but even more so it's for coaching. There are awesome RW coaches here, but NO ONE to coach freefly. That said, I generally choose the closer option. I'd love to visit Pitt, but it's half a days drive... Thanks Sunshine! Yup, Fire in the Sky. Freaky. I'm getting cold chills just thinking about it... Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

Poltergiest. I was freaked for months. And I refused to turn off the TV at night. I can't remember the name of the other... it was about a so called 'true' alien abduction. That can still get to me if I stop and think about it. Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

Have fun. It's not hard, but will take some time to get it right. I studied every jumpsuit I could, then made my own pattern. I first used cheap cloth and just basted it together until it fit okay, then cut that apart for the final pattern. Now I've made three suits, and the fit gets better each time. I like the tyvek overalls idea. Wish I'd thought of that! Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

And you know what the worst thing about repeating a level is? Ya gotta go and do another skydive! What a pain in the ass, to have to do another one... Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. -Robert A. Heinlein

Kerry, don't let it eat you up. Did you do another jump afterward? About counting, at first the S/L habit stayed with me. Now I only count during my track. I do have a dytter, but make a conscious effort to be doing what I should be doing before the beep tells me to. Low - Clouds. Real low and rainy and nasty, on my day off. High - A phone call from my brother. We don't talk much, not because we're estranged or anything, just because we live far apart and are both busy. It really made my day to talk to him. No, it made my week. Way more than kiddie fare. Rawling is fabulous, she has such a unique vision and draws you into her world completely. Each book is another year in Harry's life, and each book gets deeper and more complex, reflecting his growth. They are fun and entertaining fantasy, but she doesn't pull any emotional punches. They are written 'for kids' without being childish. you say I'm a Harry Potter freak like it's a bad thing...

Ooh ooh Michele you GOTTA read them! I devoured the first three books in 4 days. Can't wait for this one, but I don't buy hardcovers. Happily, I have friends who do.
