I agree, but how would it be organized. I mean what would the competition be, accuracy, skill, etc.???? J

Whining? I didn't think I was whining! I can't believe everything you have been through. But, you see, you may be 54 now, but you weren't 54 when you started! If, financially, it is possible, I will take lessons in the spring. My DZ offers static line as well as AFF. What would be the better way to go, in your opinion? Could you answer this question for me, how long or how many jumps did you do before you felt comfortable in your landings? What I mean is, were you scared to land on your own for the first few jumps? J

You guys are just too funny! Found myself laughing out loud! J

Don't you just appreciate the messages here? Just when I was feeling I was too old to take up this sport, I hear all these replies. I still have some doubts though, because I'm so afraid of breaking something, or the fear of landing where I'm not suppose to! Ha! I will have to make a decision before Spring! J

I am so glad I read your post. I am 54 and just did two tandems this last summer. I am definitely hooked and have been struggling with whether or not I should take this sport on! Doing the two tandems was the best think I have ever done. I have been worried whether it was a realistic idea to take up the sport at this age, knowing bones don't heal as fast and worried that my reaction time MIGHT be slower, I don't know. Thanks for your post, at least I know I am not alone out here. J

Your Mother started skydiving when she was 76? Does that mean she just did a tandem or did she seriously take up the sport? I'm curious because I am 54 and am seriously thinking of doing this. J

Good post! I want to thank everyone for all the info that is passed out here and all the 'fun'! I have learned a lot. But, I'm not getting much done, because I spend too much time reading all these posts! J

Yes, geez, they looked low. I thought maybe the camera angle on some of it was a contributing factor. J

I just received my Good Stuff DVD today! Amazing! Are some of those jumpers pulling as low as it looks?

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I love to read first jump stories! Thanks. J

I saw that program too. I wondered, how anyone could get bored skydiving?!?! Looked kind of crazy to me! J

It was something that always fascinated me, but just never gave a serious thought. Maybe because, I didn't know anyone who was a skydiver or had ever done a jump! Face it, this is not a sport that you hear a lot about or is publicized very much. I didn't know where to go, to do it. This last year a friend of mine wanted to do a tandem and asked if I wanted to do one also. Of course, I couldn't answer "yes" fast enough! The sport has changed so much over the years, that a tandem jump seemed perfect! Well, a month after my first tandem I did another one. I can't imagine anyone doing their first jump and not wanting to do it again. I am "hooked"! J

Sounds like you had a nice time. Funny about families isn't it? I can't say my whole family is supportive, but I think they understand. A few still think I'm crazy and taking too much of a risk! But then they haven't tried it!

I read the book, "Skydivers, flying with their pants on fire". What a great book! J

For those of you who get to travel around, what is your favorite DZ? Doesn't necessarily have to be your home DZ either! J

Wonderful isn't it? What a great group here, too! J

I know Geneva isn't in France, but they said they called there as well, I forget why, something about news sources going through there. They also said if you notice, all the names are American names!
-
Yup! It's a fake story. The local rock radio station researched this one. They finally ended up, after many calls to several places and papers (in Geneva and France) to a call to the coroner over there. No such person has died. They also said if a woman was a 72DD, with the 72 being a torso measurement, she would be a very large girl with small breasts for her size, since DD isn't that huge!
