The question is about race-related discrepancies, not sexual improprieties. It seems w/r/t the latter, most people here subscribe to the notion, "We don't care what goes on in the bedroom, it's how he/she runs their office." The former, however, appears to apply more to how one might run their office. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

It's not the "letting go" that's hard, rather it's the decision to. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I refer you to my OP. The link I posted is MSNBC and also provides video. I also mentioned I prefer transcripts, but believe it's best in combination with audio and/or video. It seems you'd rather me have said "There was little more than four or five minutes of a 37-minute speech...". OK. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Interesting article by Angelina Jolie. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

And therein lies the rub. Excellent speech on racism. Not-so-great response to his relationship with Wright. There was little more than a paragraph or two of a nine-page speech about his relationship with Wright. And it was a really bad paragraph at that. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

These words bear repeating. Take "racism" out of the above and this statement applies to anything and everything anyone harbors resentment for. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I believe it was the easier route. Had Obama "disowned" Wright no-one would have bought it given his history with the man. Standing by Wright as Obama condemned Wright's words was the only thing Obama could do to stand a chance of putting this to rest. Agree to disagree there. For me, had Obama gone the "easy way"--as you put it--I'd be far less likely to buy anything else he said. I don't think it was smart to use the term "disown", however, nor the supporting analogy. They're not mutually exclusive. I didn't personally get an "arrogant" impression of Obama in this speech, but certainly it was a brave speech, he spoke elegantly and he could also be arrogant--I just don't think he was being arrogant here. Do not confuse, "I don't think he came across as arrogant", with "I'm taking his word as gospel and believe all I'm told." Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Brave & elegant, absolutely. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Hee. Hee. Sunshine is one of my favorites. If she has a point, I'm certain it's bigger than yours, Shelly. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I agree; I'd have won my 4H Club with that one. I won anyway, but we always had a time limit on speeches and Obama would have FAR exceeded it. "First", I LOVE that he utilized the opportunity to address such, as well. "Second", I would have done the same--this doesn't really say much. It's more of a preventative measure. I have issues with the "couldn't disown" comments about Wright, and Obama addressing his relationship with Wright in itself (not-so-much). I'm putting those aside for this discussion. Though, it should be noted: I'm of the position we don't keep such close friends for whom we disagree with to such a level; I've posted before about keeping such friends I disagree with (it's a good thing), but certainly those are not so close as this man is to Obama... Me, too.

Yes! And, you know recently with Patrick Swayze the same thing for me--when I was little I SO wanted to marry him . Of course, not-so-hot later on in the tights & girlie-moves, but when I read his comments about his wife a couple days ago.. HAAAHOT again. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Transcript. I posted this link originally in the "LIAR" thread, but believe it is a separate topic altogether. I'm not sure we've fully discussed this issue here, and would love to open it up. I prefer transcripts vs. audio & video. Although, I believe a combination gives more of a full spectrum of meaning. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Oh my goodness, it's my favorite! I LOVE photography. But more so, I love seeing nature first-hand. Photos like these make me want to quit my day-job.

I loved him when I was a little girl.

Yes! Ron White. LOVE him!!! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Yup. I wanted to share. It's always fun surfing around the National Geograhic website.

Did a quick search--hope this isn't a repost: Be sure to click each photo to view it on a larger scale. The small size does not do these spectacular photos justice. While it's difficult to pick a favorite, I really love this one. Reminds me of canoeing around the cypress trees early in the morning.

Or a Big Mac cost less than a salad because some jackass out there is willing to pay for it (and eat it) at that price. It baffles me some people don't question why their burgers cost $1. The answer is pretty fucking gross. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
