We have a lot in common, actually. I, too, believe in preserving "my stuff". I don't buy a lot or often, but when I do I buy quality and I take care of it even when I use it all the time--I take the five minutes or whatever to clean it off and store it properly when I'm done so it lasts & lasts. And my bag (my purse) is like my own "fighting Russians" kit. You name it, I have it in travel-size in my bag--which is not oversized and very chic. And Billy has a jacket JUST as you described. I LOVE it.

See and I prefer thin-as-hell, soft & worn-in vintage wear. I am proud to say I have many original pieces I've had for years. I'm talking jeans with authentic holes in them, baby--not the kind you pay to have that way. But, I do have six of those T's I linked to. I didn't buy them there, though--too expensive. I live in Florida--not much of a need for jackets. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

This REI? My problem is finding the time (and inevitably spreading myself thin) to do all the outdoor activities I love. We have a garage full of bicycles (several kinds depending on whether we're going off trail, on the beach, or around town), surfboards, skateboards, tents, portable chairs, coolers, ping-pong table, kayak, motorcycle and probably a lot of other things of which I use each maybe once/month. I'm not a big "camper", though, unless I'm actually in a camper. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Which store would it be and why? Yes, I know this thread is silly and pure fantasy, but I admit I like making wishlists to stores I might never afford or otherwise shop in for various reasons. I am in love with The Artful Home. Be sure to check out my two favorite artists: Vincent Leman and David Coddaire

Anyone mentioned you are a skydiver in a job interview?
PLFXpert replied to mlbolon's topic in The Bonfire
Yup. I'm still with the company. And I recently mentioned it to my insurance agent when switching from my current group plan to my new individual HSA plan. I got preferred status. Because I'm awesome. To answer your other question: I wouldn't have mentioned it in either of those situations. I mentioned it because my interviewer had photos on the wall from when he was in the military that were relative. I mentioned it to my insurance agent just to get his goat--I'd already applied online, anyways, and nowhere did it ask about anything other than if I have a motorcycle license. It didn't even ask if I ride a motorcycle--just if I had a license. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -
Generally what we do here is open with an issue, state our synoptic opinion, and wait for others to respond before proving our point with additonal facts & links. It is more fun this way. P.S. I've only gotten to this part so far: I'm pretty sure I agree. I need a snack, though, before I read the rest. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

“Would six-figure salaries attract better teachers?”
PLFXpert replied to nerdgirl's topic in Speakers Corner
Yup. There are several things I'd love to have done--teaching being one--had it paid better. I'm not sure a higher salary would "attract better teachers", overall. I'm certain other improvements are necessary first & foremost. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -
I understood it as: Celebs have carte blanche to speak about and post political commentary without having to back up their point, their personal experience, ties, education or source of the info they're preaching. I agree it's expected if you like Rage Against the Machine and purchase a ticket to see them live, you assume you might hear a revolutionary speech in-between songs about how American foreign policy sucks and Bush should be tried as a war criminal. On the other hand, if you order a "cheeseburger in paradise" and the waitress brings your order with a side of political slaw, and "free slaw" was not listed on the menu as coming with your order, you might be annoyed when the slaw juice runs amok and sogs up the bun of your burger. I miss her, too! I was just thinking about her!

OK, it's not even funny anymore. My "strategy" is so simple. I won a good 200+ points against my competitors this time around. I fucking rock!

That's the beauty of poetry (and lyrics). My current sig line was written about homelessness. I used it to mean something else completely. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Yup. And I might expect a quip about such at a Green Day concert. But, I wouldn't go as far to say "much"--more like "some". "Much" of the music we listen to is about love, loss & hurt--in every genre. It's one thing to bring attention to an issue (which I greatly appreciate). It's another to go on and on about something you back up with nothing and actually do nothing about. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Was it on the ticket stub? If so, OK. Not everyone views it as a "Cool! Bonus, dude!" Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

The "things" you mentioned are part of entertainment. What qualifies them to espouse foreign policy? I love when celebs use their influence to bring exposure to an issue or problem. The OP was speaking about paying for entertainment and receiving a political policy speech instead. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

*Bump I missed this thread before. Great idea!

Not the same thing--witches. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing just yet. Just wanting something more than "make the pain stop" for someone who might think themselves a martyr. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
