  1. Yey! I'm right behind you...my last final is on Thursday. I'm not walking though, so no pics for me. I was bored as hell the first time when I graduated high school; didn't want to go through that twice...Ha ha ha! But I'm graduating, nonetheless! Congratulations! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  2. OMG you guys keep bringing back memories...I think I was like, 5 years old when that came out! I loved it! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  3. Yea, most of the time, at a party or otherwise, the same thing happens from 2 a.m. on as what already happened from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. So why repeat myself? I'd rather have the extra two hours or so sleep before I jump or do whatever the next day. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Speaking from experience in the industry, you can pretty much guarantee that EVERY modeling picture has been air-brushed, altered slightly (ie: in one swim-suit ad I did, they put a darker tan on me via computer) etc. I'm SURE this one is no exception Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  5. Oh God...funny story...I got him a Suunto alti-watch but I ALSO got him a leather jacket from Wilson's when they were having their 50% off sale! He's wanted a leather jacket for a while and b/c I couldn't return it (for money back), except for 30 days (after that it can be exchanged), I made him close his eyes, hold his nose (so he couldn't smell the leather) and I put it on him when I got home to make sure it fit OK. It did and he asked, "what was that about?" and I said, "Nothing", knowing full-well he'd forget about it. That was a couple months ago, so he'll find out at X-mas what the hell I was doing. He he he....I think he's used to letting me have my way w/ him that he didn't even question, further, what the hell I was doing It works both ways I put a garbage bag over the jacket and put it in the back of my side of the closet. The watch is small and easy to hide. His other, little presents, I just went ahead and wrapped and put in his stocking. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  6. I don't like to eat much when I'm jumping. I just drink a lot of Gatorade. But, afterwards, I usually like to indulge in a big plate of cheese fries. They KNOW HOW TO DO cheese fries in Deland...the cheese isn't just on the top, but it's layered underneath. Mmmmmmm Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  7. BZ? HA HA HA HA HA HA! No, BZ is computerly-challenged. When we didn't live together, he signed on DZ.com, I think once, b/c I told him about it, but he said it took him way too long to type out a post, etc. that it was too much of a hassle and thought there was a bit too much drama. As you know, BZ stears CLEAR of drama, as do I for the most part. I told him I just respond to the fun threads Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  8. Nope, don't feel old yet....especially at the DZ, being significantly younger than the majority of jumpers. I do feel old, however, when I see other 22-year-olds clubbin' it every night, etc. I'd much rather play pool and drink beer at a laid-back bar w/ friends, or rent a DVD, go fishing, surfing, etc. I'm usually in bed by 10 weeknights. I'm always up by 5:30. BZ reassures me though, that, that doesn't make me old, it just means I figured it out before everyone else. I like the way he sees it Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  9. Lisa, glad you're feeling better! Geez! Look at the plus side, at least you probably saved $$$ on groceries the last few days Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  10. For every B-day and X-mas, BZ always puts a few jumps on my account. The best present he ever gave me, I must say, is my Dytter! I didn't have one before and now I want another one, a pro-track for the other ear so I have two in case one fails. Some newbie asked me once, "hey, is that thing really worth it?" To which I quickly replied, "HELL YES!"...I love it! In the past, I've bought him a pair of FF pants, a wide-angle camera lens and this X-mas (shhhhhhh, he doesn't know yet) I got him a Sunnto altimeter watch. 11. Holy cow! How could I forget Pete's Dragon and Flashdance, even Romancing the stone! I had the Flashdance soundtrack and went through a couple copies of that, as well! I used to pretend I was the dancer...ha hah a....I had warm-up socks and a leotard and the works! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  12. There were several movies that I went through at least 2 or 3 copies of when I was little: Adventures in Babysitting Grease Dirty Dancing Sound of Music Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  13. Ohhhh, memories. I started jumping after my sophomore year in college. I'm graduating next week! Woo-hoo! More $$$= two or three times more jumps I felt the same as you my junior year...but I did enough work to get by. By my senior year, I realized that the sooner I finished college, the sooner I would be working full-time instead of part-time at a job that would pay me more for my degree and therefore allow me to do more jumps. I picked up the pace BIG TIME and instead of skydiving hindering my performance in school, it actually became my motivation to hurry up, get done, so I could pursue everything I wanted to do in skydiving and have that degree under my belt at the same time. I'm not sure how old you are, but I also consoled myself knowing that I'm very young, and had PLENTY of time to really crank out the jumps and start competeting. I'm freshly 22 years old, and now I'm done w/ school. A lot of people don't start jump until their mid-20s so I feel that I haven't wasted any valuable time by being in school. These are just some of the things I told myself. I get down, too, b/c when I do something, especially something I love, I like to be the best I can be at it. I'm not competitive against others, so to speak, but I'm competitive with myself, always striving to be better, etc. As long as I'm doing the best I can and improving, it doesn't matter to me how others are doing or if they're ahead or behind me. It's hard sometimes, not to compare yourself to others when you see them doing 10 jumps a week (through college, I was only able to do 3 or 4 every weekend) but you just got to figure out what you want, figure out what you have to do to get it, and DO IT! These are just some things that helped me through that time you speak of, so hang in there! You're not alone, hunny Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  14. You're forgiven Just a lesson learned; assuming=uncool For the record, I'm only getting my C and getting my D in a couple months. I had planned on waiting and paying just for my D but there is a possible demo jump coming up, and I wanted to have the opportunity to do it so I went ahead and obtained the C. I don't quite have 200 jumps yet, but I'll get my D in a month or so. I have met all the proper qualifications for the D, just need that 200th jump Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

He he he...lucky for me, I know which ones to press.
  16. Point taken, but as you'll see if you re-read my post, I said only after more tunnels were put up would I think we should consider the notion. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  17. before you develop bad ones... I'm just curious...who would recommend that tunnel time be required as an 8th or 9th (if you count the hop-n-pop as #8) level to AFF? I was very fortunate and had a good friend who would take me to the tunnel when I had just finished AFF, then I got a job for that company. I haven't been in a LONG time (I need to go!) but I had no problems and I feel it helped me a lot. From what I've heard from others, sometimes jumpers with several hundred jumps go to the tunnel for the first time and can't seem to stay in the center. I was talking about this w/ a friend and we both agreed it would help so many new jumpers to improve if they were to have at least half an hour in the tunnel as part of AFF. I realize that tunnels are not plentiful in every state and would not be logical in that sense to require, but I know they're in the process of setting up several more in the US so that at least everyone would be w/in a few hours of one. At that point...I might say, let's re-evaluate and maybe make it a requirement. What do you guys think? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

He he he! That was CUTE!!! I'm glad I'm not the only one now, who likes to mess w/ Skymama! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  19. I have more than found this to be true. Really, the only reason I was interested in getting my license at all is b/c of some missed opportunites for demo jumps. As far as anything on the DZ is concerned, not having one never hindered me in any way. LadySkydiver The night jumps were fun, but because they were my first (I only did two) one was just a hop-n-pop and the other was a two-way on my belly, which I hadn't flown on my belly in a LONG time so they were both pretty uneventful, but cool, all the same. I'm hoping to get another opportunity soon.
  20. He he he...I had a BLAST! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  21. YES!!! I forgot! Jt took water-training with me...while I always say I have nothing to prove to anyone and vice versa, this should add a little validity to my rebuttal to Canuck. It's a personal pet peeve but DAMN I don't understand why people assume shit. It only keeps you from getting to know people who might be good friends to you. Not only that, but you not only assumed that I did something fishy, but that whatever instructor signed off on my license did something fishy, too. Not cool, Canuck I would also like to thank the person who PM'd me, rather than flame the thread, for clarification. Very classy! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  22. Thank you, wonderwoman. Canuck, I, unfortunately, have not had the luxury of traveling to many DZs. therefore, the few places I've jumped, the people know me well enough, my flying abilities, etc., to have looked at my log book and allowed the night jumps. Yes, I've had water-training, I've done everything properly to meet every qualification required by the USPA. I don't think it was safe for you to assume that I did anything "fishy", nor was it safe for you to assume I was "bragging" People post about their accomplishments, etc. on here all the time. I am very happy to be getting a license b/c not having one stopped me from doing several opportunities for demo jumps. They do demo jumps near where I live at the beach, all the time, but b/c I didn't have a license, I wasn't able to. However, I wanted to take all my tests at once and just pay one time. I see your point about why someone would want to get all their licenses, but for me, all I ever had to do when traveling to a new DZ was show them my log book, my USPA membership card, and they could tell by that, that I was qualified to jump. I NEVER had an issues with jumping at new places b/c I didn't have a license. It doesn't matter how you go about it. To each their own. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  23. :3:3 3 really fun tracking jumps! 3 firsts: 1. I ventured out of Skydive Deland this weekend to Palatka and rode in a Cesna Caravan for the first time. It was cute, like a mini-otter...I realized how spoiled I am when all the regular skydivers mentioned how "fast" it was and I'm thinking, "This thing is SO much slower than the Skyvan. 2. First time getting a license! I took all four of my tests, A through D and passed them all and will finally have a license now. 3. Not really a true first, but first time in a long time I've been up past 2 a.m. Friday night we partied hard, jumped all day Saturday, came home and partied until 4 a.m. on Saturday night. I was SOOOO tired and had tried to hit the sack at about midnight, realized there was no way I was going to sleep with the HUGE PARTY my neighbors were throwing, decided "if you can't beat em', join em" and grabbed BZs pop rocks and stood on the balcony scaring the shit out of all the partiers below! Ha ha ha! As lame as it sounds, that is the most fun/laughs I've had in a while! One even popped off this bald guy's head! Another popped on this one guys shoe and he subsequently pushed his friend, all pissed off, like his friend did something, it was f*cking hilarious, after that some guys were on to me and carried me over. It was a lot of fun. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  24. I didn't even go to my prom....I didn't like how it made all my friend argue and be stupid w/ each other....I partied HARD that night w/ my close friends who were in college at the time....NO REGRETS! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  25. Oh Dear....I already told her she could kiss me at midnight...what more do I have to do to get her to come to the party w/ me? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
