Agreed about departing from the Cape. Don't get me wrong--I enjoy Miami Beach--I spent a lot of time there working. But you have to be "in the mood" for it And best time of year is just after hurricane season---October, November, even December it's still plenty warm and fun in the Carribean---OR early Spring before the "Spring Break" crowd. I always went, for whatever reason in late October. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Actually, Dave YOU get to pick when and where as there is a cruise for just about every sea-side destination and time of year. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  4. I can tell you, some "dog nannys" have it MADE. I met a girl in a bar once who lived with a family, had her own room in a GORGEOUS beachside mansion (I knew which one right away when she described it), meals, use of the pool/ocean--totally live-in. She did cleaning and errands and stuff like that, too, but basically she got paid about $40k/year and all her expenses covered since she lived there. NOT BAD AT ALL!!! 5. My hunny and I were JUST talking about this, as we take our baby to doggie day care every Friday and sometimes on Saturdays if we want to be gone all day (we won't leave him longer than 4 hours unless he's coming too). We get a discount for being regulars but SHEESH! They must make a fortune and have a blast doing it---no overhead, just own a big empty space indoor & out for dogs to run and play. So simple and so much fun (as long as you don't mind picking up dog doody w/ an inside-out plastic baggie) GREAT idea! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Much like the luxury in some airlines, the cruises really went downhill after 9/11 I haven't been on one since before then so I really couldn't compare---just what I read & heard. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I like extremes in cruising. In my experience the biggest also have the biggest rooms/pools, etc. (Of the four I went on, one was in-between "medium" sized and was my least favorite.) The smaller ones like the windjammers Wendy mentioned or the yahts (with just 2-4 couples aboard) are also VERY fun and acommodating Actually I like the smaller better, but they're more pricey. My entrepreneurial friend owned one for a little while, fortunately. But, actually I think I would pay to do that one again Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  10. That's great! And though I always wanted to be a veterinarian the type always changed---just before college I wanted to be a "marine" veterinarian so I could help injured Shamus Now I just volunteer & give them my $$$ Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Prime example of different experiences (that sounded awful). Our pool on the ship I learned to scuba (they had PADI courses offered during the cruise) was HUGE! And 15 feet deep! I remember b/c we had to do pool training during the first day so that we'd be ready for dives by the first stop Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

They sound the same, so go with your gut and ask around. I'd lean toward Royal Carribean myself. I've never heard good things about Carnival. But, to each their own b/c I tell you some people HATE cruises and others love them. I'm indifferent. I think b/c I've been fortunate to go on several, I'm a little over it. Just don't stand too close to the edge Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

DEFINITELY and the shower is *slightly* larger (from what I heard from a friend over ours was big. I thought it was soooooo teeny) Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

    Cruises.

I've been on four. We WERE planning a Mediteranean cruise but have read too many horror stories about cruises lately (Sorry to rain on your parade) But of the four, I really had a blast. I did not get sea sick, but my stepmom does and wears these wrist bands that poke her vein or something and prevent the sea-sickness. She also took dramamene (sp?) on one and was fine. Two of my four cruises were Carribean. All I can say is fabulous. Where are your stops? I can tell you about nearly everywhere in the Carribean. If you scuba, DEFINITELY sign up for that. That's where I learned My first logged dives ever were Jamaica, the Caymans and Cozumel. Also, if you need jewelry buy it there! And don't forget EVERYTHING is negotiable. I need specific questions to be of any more help But, rest assured, I'm sure you'll have a great time
  16. Oooo, fabulous! Thank you. I noticed the checkout part of the website is not secure, so I will call and hopefully they can take an order over the phone If not, I noticed they're based out of Sebastian and I"m sure I can make a trip to jump down that way sometime
  17. We'd have to take this to SC to discuss this further, as I do NOT want to live longer But I take good care of myself b/c I want my quality of life while I'm here to be as great as possible. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  18. There are LOTS of great ideas for cars to run (and at good speeds) on alternatives to gas and MUCH friendlier for the environment. The problem is re-doing the entire auto-making industry of how they engineer cars, converting "gas" stations to "other" stations, etc. It's a big overhaul that none of the gas companies or auto makers want to do for obvious reasons (loose a lot of money/spend a lot of money initially). It sucks I'm guilty of it, too. I REALLY wanted a hybrid but my Toyota Sequoia is proven to hold its value. Who knows the longterm resale values/ramifications/endurance/reliability yet of a hybrid. If they prove themselves years from now, I'll buy Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  19. Sadly, I don't think anything will end my obsession with time I MUST be early, too. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  20. My opinion doesn't matter much as I've never purchased an Idol CD---but if I HAD to, I'd most definitely purchase Taylor's and you'd have to pay me to listen to Katherines. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  21. My hunny hated watches until I bought him (Oh, shoot, I can't remember the brand name) but it's an altimeter watch (among other features) and he uses it skydiving/swooping (b/c it's waterproof) or just everyday Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  22. I like things that have some sort of personal meaning/appeal to them as far as jewelry goes. I don't wear much. The necklace I wear most often is a sea turtle hatching from an egg (solid yellow & platinum gold with diamond eyes). I LOVE sea turtles and have all sorts of turtle-art. I'm also on the committee, so it was a great investment but it is also more than something that just "looked cool" to me. The only earrings I ever wear my best friend gave me as a bridesmaid gift at her wedding. My watch my hunny shopped for b/c believe it or not I didn't have one, and he didn't understand how me of all people didn't wear a watch (I always just looked at my cell phone). He picked out a FABULOUS one that he liked b/c it was classy but edgy (and it really was! Who knew he had such great taste for me?). I don't wear much else. But I've been wanting a long necklace and have been meaning to find a solid platinum gold closing pin to put on the end of a long chain. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  23. I LOVED Night Court when I was a little girl. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  24. I used to wear one all the time until I lost it in freefall. My kitty, Sabre (named after my canopy) wears a small sterling silver one on his collar that he's worn since he was 2 weeks old I've been meaning to get a yellow gold one to put at the end of a long chain to wear. Anyone have a link of where I could find one?
