I know it's been done before, but it's always a good time for another Here is mine: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?username=BillyZ; He has an entire two posts Every now and then I have the same epiphany of how much I love this man. Last night I did again. We were talking, then laughing then walking outside to look at the flower sprays sprouting from a row of plants we'd planted from bulbs early Spring. He's my best friend and my Luv-a Muuuuaaah. Love you, Big Daddy! Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Doing anything in which you know death is an absolute is suicide. Therefore the real question is would you commit suicide. Absolutely not for me. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Love 'em. I'm a member of the no-white-is-too-white club I use the 12 month pack every 8 months or so. They're fabulous I like the 7-day just nights one, though. It's a little bit of a pain to do it twice/day. And be prepared for teeth sensitivity for a couple weeks. That will go away Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Exactly. Once you except that death will happen and you'll never know when or how, you can really live. You take precautions, make choices to improve the quality of your life while you're here and do your best NEVER to take life for granted. Complacency is often a killer. One can become complacent in anything in life they do, skydiving or otherwise. People however, tend to become less complacent in things that are obvious threats to life than other things and thus the other things then become more likely to kill. It's important to remind people of such things, but nothing is a given or for certain except death itself. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Actually, if you add an "s" to the last name, it makes for a great stripper name Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

We did that too, except slightly different. Take your first pet's name as your first name, and the first street you lived on as your last name. Mine was: Babycakes Bedford Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

What I said (and no worries, just getting a little annoyed with a combo of my own brain not up to speed today, the internet and RIDICULOUS INFERENCES): Was that I do not feel I am more likely to die skydiving b/c I am a skydiver. I do think (like almost anything else) there is a more likely risk of death for myself b/c I do skydive. I'm exhausting myself trying to explain this in layman's terms (which I thought I did, but instead made it confusing). I believe I can die in any moment doing anything any day. Some moments are likelier than others. But, I accept impending death and choose to live my life weighing risks, taking proper precautions, and still enjoying all the things I desire to. I do not do a lot of other things that pose great risks to health and life. From that perspective, perhaps though I skydive I have better chances than some skydivers/non-skydivers at a long life. Then again, there are very few things I do with the equivalent risk of death as skydiving, so thus I would be MORE likely to die from that than anything else I do in my life. Of course then, there's the X factor (the unknown) and that life is about chance & circumstance, too at times. Soooooooooo, frankly.....it's just a matter (like anything else) of weighing risks and making personal choices and realizing that just b/c you are AWARE of the risks in skydiving, doesn't mean you won't die at another time when you were NOT so aware of any risk/chance involved in whatever (perhaps seemingly safe activity/treatment of yourself) you were doing/being at that time. Like anything else it's important to remember, as dg pointed out, the risks involved. I simply wanted to point out that what he said can apply to most, if not everything in life. And that skydiving, while riskier than a lot of things, is just another thing to weigh the risks of. Furthermore as Krisanne said, there's the difference between the intellectual and emotional acceptance (Right on, Krisanne!). I REALLY don't think anyone who skydives really believes there is no way they can die from it. Though I think many have not realized that emotionally and those same people likely not to realize such things emotionally are just more likely IN GENERAL of death. You're a little late. Get on board. And feel free to skip the load I'm on, ya'll. I'm obviously not aware of what I'm getting myself into I'm out, folks. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -

I am done with defending ridiculous inferences. I agree with what you said. And is is NOT what I said. Please re-read: Of COURSE I am more likely than a non-skydiver. Obviously you take me for an idiot. This has really gotten ridiculous. My original post AGREED and added. What I added was not as clear as I'd hoped. I stand by my point. Kick my bootay all you want. I still practice my safety guidelines, focus and JUMP. I've already conceeded the car analygy was not the best or most accurate. Nor did I say I'm substituting this for that (skydiving for driving). My point is some jump for "the thrill of knocking on death's door" and some enjoy the flight while being smart about it. Another point is that, like anything else, there is risk involved. Many things have more risk than others and we each weigh those risks in deciding whether or not we will partake in an activity. One can choose to avoid any and all of such activites, or one can choose to take the risk and possibly/probably have a great time doing them. My point is that I don't believe I am more likely to die skydiving simply for the fact I am a skydiver. I wanted to add to the original post that it can be applied to most things in life and is not necessarily a given---just more likely than other things and less likely than other things. It is just like anything else. Furthermore, I don't believe in editing my posts if it changes the content (just for grammar/spelling) but if I did I would have removed the car analygy while still standing by my point. If skydiving was not dangerous. Do you think it would still be as fun.

To be clear, I absolutely agree you will know someone b/c it is such a small community. And I HAVE known people. One of my points is that it is not a given I will SEE it. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -

I do not believe it is given I will see it in my lifetime. I accept the possibility I might. Furthermore, I could very well be at said DZ or boogie in the event of such a thing and not see it. I also drive each day when they are thousands of accidents (some resulting in death) that I also did not see. Perhaps not the best analygy as I previously noted. I am done here---it is not my intention to lessen the impact of importance of being aware of these facts. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -

This is the best I can do: Based on the number of licensed drivers in the United States in 2005 and the reported number of car-accident related deaths. Vs. Number of USPA members and the reported # of skydiver deaths in 2005. Both assume the same thing: Not every licensed driver drives. Not every USPA member jumps. There's not really a way ( at least, in a few minutes time) to do a completely accurate comparison, but by my calculations, the percentages are the same with .001 percent chance more skydiving. I stand by what I said--admiting the car analogy was not the best. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -

I think it's important to add this can be said about many, if not most, things in life. Skydiving is relatively safe compared to driving my car each day. My car doesn't have a reserve, so to speak. And while I agree you must accept the possibility & probabiliy of all of the above you mentioned, I would NOT go as far to say it is a given. It's just like anything else. Edit: Please continue reading for clarification before responding. Chances are, someone else already said what you're about to. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. -

It might sound silly---but I eat an avacado everyday. Today, instead of throwing away the seed, I will plant it for GFD
