What are your thoughts on The Conservative Case for Gay Marriage? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Having trouble coming up with an adequate follow-up question. I posted the original question for two main reasons (OK, three if you count I love these types of discussions for various reasons): The first reason we touched on: personal vs. someone else. The second reason is the problem with being quick to judge another person's actions without first looking at your own--I.e. what you would do if you substitute their X for your Y. I voted "no" to my own question and accept that others might make my same decision at my expense. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I agree, and thank you for the thread bump.

What the fuck? We just started Season One about three weeks ago. Due to the freezing cold and a recovering surgery, we had some time on our hands and decided to give the series a whirl. It has been great--largely predictable--but fun & super-funny... Season Four started as a royal disappointment--a big, fat bore...until the ninth or 10th episode when it got GOOD. Cut to the finale: I am pissed. WAY pissed. I hope Season Five brings back the old Dexter. I hate to be Janey-hate-changey, but I miss when Dexter let the law be the law and only when the law was clearly unjust would he gather evidence, stalk, and kill the Scotty-free. It has been a while since Dexter let the law have a shot at handling things first. I feel like a groupie whose favorite alternative band just went mainstream pop w/r/t to the Season Four finale. It's all fucking gross. "Fake bones" are just the scratching the obvious surface. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

A gay marriage civil rights trial will begin Monday in California challenging the constitutionality of Proposition 8. Many of my friends and family--largely conservative--consider gay marriage a non-issue and wonder why I care so much with so many other "more important" things going on in our nation right now. I think Theodore Olson--one of the two attorneys in the case hoping to overturn the Prop 8 amendment--represents my sentiments perfectly in the January 18th issue of Newsweek: The Conservative Case for Gay Marriage. My sentiment exactly. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Recently, in a restaurant of a culinary institute, I had the wild pacific salmon with a fruit couscous. The salmon was great--my favorite fish. But, the fruit couscous (they gave it a more fancy name) was incredible. I cannot remember eating anything so surprisingly delicious. SO good.

The question and examples provided pertain/s to human vs. animal and importance of protecting one vs. another. I tried really hard to make the topic question clear and unambiguous, and still one person wonders the point and another asks if I would save my dog or another. SO SC. Actually, they target shark finning ships, too. And I pointed out the silliness of the cute argument when I responded to kallend's poacher example. Two possible scenarios: A man injures a perpetrator to protect his dog. A perpetrator is injured by a man to save a whale. I do not see why whale-guy gets less sympathy because he did not keep the whale in a tank in his backyard, name it Shamu and swim with it daily. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Can you explain the difference between your example, and one involving illegal whalers, and the lives of the whales the Sea Shepherd crew wants to protect? I am assuming, of course, you are not talking about killing the perpetrator to protect your dog; that would be far worse than anything the Sea Shepherd organization ever did for a whale. It is effective in exposing illegal activities. The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society asserts they have "gone on to end the careers of 9 illegal whaling vessels, saving thousands of whales." Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I do not know if I fit the mold of whom you are looking for answers (been in a solid, loving relationship with my best friend for 9.5 years), but I sext him now and then. --Never with photos. But, I used to have one of those mini-stickly-film cameras... It was fun because the photos were small and printed right away--so very easy to sneak pics of naughty parts into a pocket or a wallet. I have been following the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society for a little while now. I had never seen the Animal Planet series Whale Wars until a few months ago when I read the Sea Shepherd collision with the Yushin Maru was caught on film while they were filming the series. I had this avatar for a while during that time as a silent show of support and changed it back early this morning. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

Trouble Finding Information: Investing in Rainforest for Cures
PLFXpert replied to PLFXpert's topic in The Bonfire
I heard in the background TV noise a while ago about something along the lines of sponsoring or investing in a tree or several trees in a particular rainforest and potentially profiting from any new medicines/cures discovered from that particular tree/area. I wish I could be more specific, but by the time I was able to pay full attention the subject-matter had changed. I have tried Googling for more info, and am coming up empty-handed. Perhaps I heard incorrectly. If anyone is familiar with what I might be referring to and/or can help me find more information, I would greatly appreciate it. -
It was fun at first when Dexter was shut-off to her and uninterested. Thereafter it became a little silly/predictable. Lila is fun trouble for a certain type of guy, but not Dexter. We are a little further into it now, but it still seems like a silly jaded-storyline for the writers to have given the average viewer. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
