  1. P.S. Joe will be really happy he is on top. True story: When I learned to jump at a small (beloved) DZ, no-one else was ever in the plane, but me and my instructor. One day Joe showed up--having just completed AFF--and showed me a video... That video guy whose face I never saw sounded SO sexy... 10 years later, this year, I am still with the video guy who did Jtval's AFF videos.
  2. I have not ever had a scale. I used to weigh myself sometimes at Publix. I get weighed each year at the vagina doctor. And when I visit a friend's house, if there is one in the bathroom, I will step on it. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

    Scary cars

I drive a Sequoia and have never jumped w/out an AAD.
  4. If it were me, twice. They will still try to hunt you down--one may even find a phone number to your father and call from his new home in Hawaii to ask for business advice for his super-successful ventures and conveniently leave his number and ask your father to give you his best. I am just saying, it happens. If you really put it as quoted and he continues the unwelcomed behavior, good riddens. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  5. Beautiful kitties! Whatever you name them, remember "Sabre" is taken. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  6. Me thinks you do not understand "irony" or "hypocritical". Eating soy that tastes like bacon would only be ironic and hypocritical to a vegetarian if actual bacon were used to flavor the soy. FWIW, the options I offered are not something we inlcude in our diet very often. We eat locally-farmed eggs and every now and then Bill likes to make a "sausage, egg & cheese" breakfast sandwich to satisfy a craving. We both grew up in very meat-loving, meat-topped meat, meat inside of meat, meat for breakfast, lunch & dinner families. Cravings happen--not so much for me anymore. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  7. The point I did not make very well, is that most people do not know how to use seasonings--herbs, spices, etc.--and if they did they might find veggies and healthier foods a lot more appealing and satisfying as opposed to craving bacon and bacon-wrapped-bacon. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  8. The irony of veggies and vegans eating fake meat... Bet you are not a fan of meat unless it is seasoned. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  9. Totally agree! The problem with many is seasoning. I.e. I love a vegan Boca burger, but I have to add several seasonings to it to make it taste "the same". In short, my position is America has food-issues because most people do not know their way around the seasoning isle of the grocery store. Seasoning is EVERYTHING! Edit: But there is no fauxcheese that tastes like cheese and no way to make it so. Some of the Veggie Slices are really good for a "grilled cheese", etc., but they are not vegan. Cheese is my vice, but I have done exceptionally well for more than a year now without it. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  10. Yup! Try it. You will be annoyed at first with the package and the pieces stuck together, but fry some up and tell me they do not taste good. I_do_have a palette. I like the fauxsausage better, though. I grew up on biscuits and gravy on Sundays. I have since done a croissant with appropriately-seasoned grits and been super-satisfied, but when I want that good-nasty gravy, I do the Gimme Lean and I am_not_left wanting.
  11. I stand by Smart Bacon. One must take careful effort to open the package and peel the strips apart, but smells and tastes--SO GOOD!--like a lean bacon. You know, like when your Mrs. puts you on a diet and buys Lean Dean (had "low-fat" bacon a lot as a little girl when my stepmom started doing the grocery shopping). It's still good. That is what Smart Bacon tastes like, and no pigs had to spare any ribs. I also am a big fan of LightLife's Gimme Lean Sausage. The trick is to cut what you want with a knife while it is still in the package and place in the pan and flatten out with a spatula (as opposed to trying to create a patty with your hands--it is too sticky). Yumm!
  12. I tried that, too, but no-one we know has HBO. We actually_do_have HBO just not through the cable box and the way we have everything setup and hidden, it is a bit of a pain to mess with. Actually, now that I think about it, that is the same reason I have not yet purchased the nice-n-large, widescreen, LCD computer monitor for my office. I would have to take my furniture apart to get to the back of my tower...I literally have the pieces of my five-piece office furniture set screwed together because they did not sit quite flat enough/close-enough together for my tastes, and I found it aesthetically displeasing. I will suck it up soon, though--I really want that monitor and Bill will get stuck doing the drilling & heavy lifting anyway. Back to the HBO film: Definitely worth watching for both fans of Grandin and for those unfamiliar with her to be introduced.
  13. Any one in particular? I plan on reading more in their entirety, but I have read quite a bit of Animals in Translation and a bit of Animals Make Us Human. I wanted to promote the movie, however, as obviously more people are likely to check that out.
  14. Premiering this Saturday, February 6th at 8 p.m. I am purchasing HBO for the day to DVR it.
  15. While I am sure I saw it, I might be thinking of something different as it seems you did the filming a year later than I finished AFF. But, I remember the challenge when all the castmates were "dropped off" on location via tandem skydive--actually now that I type that--maybe it was not during AFF I saw that, as now I remember thinking (as most excited new skydivers probably would) if they would have let me jump by myself, instead. I do not care what anyone says, Real World (and later--The Challenges)_were_AWESOME. I stand by them. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  16. I saw that! If I remember correctly, that must have been about 10 years ago...I remember watching that mid-AFF (I started AFF in July of 2000).
  17. We have not really watched much TV (one DVR'd show a week)) in the last couple years, though we do typically watch a movie or two/week and recently did the Dexter series on DVD. While I never was a so-called "big TV watcher", as someone who has been on both sides of the fence I have both been annoyed at the person you described, and been the person annoyed at the water-cooler talk of boring American Idol stuff (in the interest of full disclosure, I_did_watch the first season of American Idol). In the instances I have been annoyed at the non-TV watcher, it was because the person came across very "two-shoes" to me, and I simply cannot relate to that. I like to let my hair down and be playful, I sometimes take way too long to finish a book, and other times I would rather sleep-in than get up and workout. Goody-goody people and I are like oil and water. We have a good friend who fits this scenario and I often find him irritating, even though he is a really nice guy. In my experience, those who profess with vigor they do_not_watch television fit the "two-shoe" type that I am not interested in. Not everyone who does not watch TV, however, is that way--not even most. When I suddenly found myself a very little-to-no -TV-program watcher I was shocked. It was not a choice, just something that naturally happened ,and I do not miss it. Furthermore, it is sometimes necessary to say so in conversation and save yourself the nodding and smiling to be polite to the person that obviously enjoyed their primetime programming the night before. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  18. How so? I was 10 years old when the first season aired and I watched religiously up until a few years ago. It was an AWESOME show, imo--especially from a sociological (and psychological) perspective. Real World was one of only three reality shows I used to watch (in addition to Top Chef and Survivor). Once I was the same age (early 20s) as the castmates, the show became monotonous. I, too, however have a "soft spot" for the show for many reasons, but that is another topic... Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
  19. Started an album yesterday afternoon and uploaded six photos to the "My Photos" section of my profile. Each one gave me a confirmation page and said I would be notified via email once photos were OK'd... Should they be on my profile by now, or am I impatient? OK, I know I am impatient... Is this the typical turnaround time or is there an error/bug/issue? Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
