    Hmmm, with Lost Prarie being two weekends, I would be able to make one of them, the first one I think. I got my MA at Davis and have a brother who only lives a couple of hours from there, but that time of year I'll be teaching summer quarter to earn money for gear. Gotta feed this new addiction! I drive to Portland fairly often so that's a possibility too. Thanks for all the info. Now I've got to do some planning....money, gear, time....money, gear, time......     Being new, I didn't realize there was so much in the northwest area. I had looked at Lost Prairie, but I have to go on a field trip with one of the classes I'll be teaching this summer that week. I'd like to get around a little and get to meet a few people. Where is Skydive Oregon and where in NorCal do you go?     Yeah, it's the where I put them thing. I have directions to stuff that I haven't had in years, but current stuff...... Well, I started a direction drawer, like the junk drawer we all seem to have. I've got to laugh about my tv directions. I got it set up and working and threw out all the packaging and directions in other languages and so on, keeping the English version. Well, the first time the power went out and I had to figure out how to get it going again, I pulled out the directions. Spanish!!! Well, I speak a little Spanish, but not techie Spanish. I eventually got it working. I repeated that each time the power went out, eventually figuring out what I needed to do.     I actually have an 8-track or two still around somewhere and my slide rule i used in high school. I love all the new stuff. Digital cameras have film beat all to hell.     Although I'm pretty new here, it seems there is a pretty big community here now. I've seen a lot of offers of places to stay, rides and so on, going on between regular posters. Like NWFlyer, I think there needs to be some level of familiarity with the person before offers of places to stay make sense.     You better be ducking!!!! I'm actually pretty good with most things mechanical or electronic if I still have the directions, it was just the watch that had me stumped. I did manage to change mine last time (new watch, of course), but I have no clue how. I just kept pushing buttons until i did it. My gas furnace and I have the same arrangement.     What about when you live in an area with a small DZ and no larger ones in driving distance? Star, ID just out of the Boise area. I should have the money to buy used gear by the end of June. I'm not even considering new. I've lived long enough to value my money and not need to have all the newest stuff.     I really wasn't all that nervous until I got a look out that open door. The look on the face in my video really showed what was going on in my head. But once out the door-----oh yeah-----
