  1. Ah. Maybe we have different definitions of WMD, then. Do you count chemical agenst like mustard, VX and Sarin? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  2. Iraq was required to do something it couldn't do - hand over its weapons of mass destruction. The same is now being done to Iran. Why couldn't Iraq? Why can't Iran? You lost me. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. But do you think it would be appropriate to just remove all of the warning labels and let nature take its course.
  3. When seconds count, the police are just minutes away. If something goes very bad around me, I'll look out for you. My Jeep has spare tire, four way, cash, fire extenguisher, first aid kit, four wheel drive and tow straps. I almost always have a flashlight, knife and gun handy. I'm the guy who always stops to change someone's tire on the road no matter where I'm going. I'm also the guy who will stop a bad situation. Sometimes just by being there. Bad guys know when there's someone around that will mess up their plans. I've watched it plenty of times. That's one reason some of us pack. 4. Pretty much like jumping without a parachute on your back. There should be someone checking or giving a 'hang check' just before launch. It doesn't say if they were foot launching off a cliff or doing aeortow. If it was a foot launch, I can see where she would be hard to find. An aerotow shouldn't have gotten too far in 30 seconds. Also, an aerotow would mandate that you be hooked in right before launch. Pretty difficult to screw that one up. The foot launch should be difficult, but I can see where it could happen. If she wasn't hooked in, she was likely holding onto the pilot or wing for those thirty seconds and then couldn't hold on any longer. I've heard of it before, but never in a tandem. Those usually have the instructor and an independent safety checking things just before launch. I've never heard of this happening before. Pretty awful. 5. Great job by the police. The kid could have easily been shot and nobody would have taken action against the police. From the two angles presented, it could have easily been a kid going for a real gun. Only once he dangled it from his fingers to toss it aside did it appear otherwise. The officer who drove the vehicle was quick enough on the draw that the kid could have been dead before it got to that point. The officer gave it a split second before shooting and that made all the difference. If that had been a rookie cop, it might have very well been different. 6. Wow. These people actually think they should be able to raise their children? What are their qualifications? Are they government trained? Those children should be somewhere being taught by the government. It is, afterall, a Brave New World. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 7. I actually started laughing at this one. You reject the conclusion without reading the underlying facts or argument. Funny stuff right there. I think the author got the idea from reading threads in SC. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 9. Boy howdy, now that's forceful It's only a fuss because he's fairly rabidly partisan, which makes him fodder for the other rabidly partisan. In the offshoot of the well-known Muslim saying that the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and the friend of my enemy is my enemy. Wendy P. OK, Wendy. I find him coarse and lacking in humor or intellectual quality. Even thought I might agree with the basis of some of his opinions, I find being on the same side of an issue with him embarassing. Better? :) Edit: I drop out of conversations around here for similar reasons, by the way. People on both sides of an issue cause a ptentially valuable debate to degenerate into name calling and childish side-issues. 10. A panda goes into a restaraunt and has a wonderful meal. When the waiter brings his check, the panga pulls out a pistol and kills the waiter. As the panda is leaving, the manager yells out to him, asking why he has done this. The panda yells over his shoulder, I'm a panda! Look it up! The manager gets an encyclopedia and looks up pandas. Sure enough; it's right there. Eats shoots and leaves...or: eats, shoots, and leaves. Two commas acceptable in the rules of the game? 11. I've seen little video bits of him and don't find him very charming...but if this article is to be believed, he's hardly lawless scum. Failed to have a tag signed? Shot two bears when he was only entitled to one? He should play within the rules, but I don't see what the fuss is about? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 13. That story is full of so much rubbish. She's a poltiician and one of the elite. Annoying how she's twisting things. Most states already recognize each others' permits. It only makes sense, really. Law enforcement would hardly be in greater danger from licensed owners. And her statement assumes out of state motorists pose a greater threat than domestic. Rubbish. The Trayvon Martin incident is standard politician flag waving with the hot issue of the day. Making policy decisions on things like that are called 'knee jerk reactions' in a disparaging manner for a reason. Then, there's the quotes at the end that speak for all legislators and their unified view toward the gun lobby. Anyone who pretends to speak for such a diverse group like that indicates to me that they are lying and hoping I'm stupid enough to believe them. I'm not saying I'm necessarily for the legislation. I'll think about it. I just hate attempts to obscure sound policy promulgation with emotion and lies. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 14. Both of my kids had a full-time mom until they started school. Looking back, I have to say it depends on the parent. A full time June Cleaver is good. Charles Manson....not so much. But in most cases, I think the early years should provide constancy and security. Then, increased socialization and variety. The ultimate goal is independence and a fully functional adult in the wild world. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 15. I've been told the cigars aren't so great, just forbidden fruit. I'd still like to see for myself. I've wondered for years why some Cuban generals / senior government didn't buy up the beachfront property and then go to Castro (Fidel or Juan) and tell him, "We've been talking to some guys from Vegas. Next week, we're going to be a democracy and return to being the hotspot we once were. Money will flow. Would you like to retire to a nice little villa on the other side of the island or die quietly in your sleep?" I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 16. Like so many things, I'll need to think on this some more. I find it interesting that the first section seems to clarify that the 2nd amendment is a right to individuals, not states or their militias. I expect that would cause some issues with it passing. I don't see much need for more restrictions. I do see a need to allow people the natural consequences of their actions so they can learn from their mistakes. But that's another discussion. I see your point about nationalization and such. I'm pretty sure the rights of individuals would come into play to avoid that, but not certain. Imminent domain is a dangerous thing. 17. Reminds me of a story in Florida a few years ago. A woman who worked a phone sex job tended to masturbate several times per day while working. She said it was not required, but encouraged. She then filed a worker's comp claim for carpal tunnel. It was filed in court and eventually settled for an undisclosed amount. Made sense to me. So does this one. If the woman in the story had been sleeping in bed when the fixture fell, would there be an issue? I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 19. I hope you are saying BS for them not sending me an email. When I saw that he had placed a hold on it, I checked my email thoroughly. Nothing from paypal. I did, however, get an email from the buyer today. He says he was going to start a dispute, but changed his mind and never submitted it. He was surprised to see he received a refund. He was not notified of anything by email either. He intends to resubmit payment. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 20. Update- I decided to check the number on the signature confirmation receipt. Turns out it works as a tracking number as well. We'll see if paypal honors that. They told me they would not honor his signature confirmation. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 21. I'm still looking on their website and can't find that they require signature confirmation. I have it. They said they didn't want it. And the trasaction was less than $250...so I guess it's not important. I don't blame them for what the buyer did. I blame them because they gave him a refund in the face of clear evidence that he received the items. I also didn't mention that the first email I received on the matter was the one telling me they had made the refund. Apparently they don't inform you of a problem until they've decided against you. I found the problem by accident when I went to transfer the money to my bank account. I don't consider it my money until the buyer is satisfied. Silly me. 22. I've used it for years and thought it was great. I recently sold a scope, scope stand and few other shooting things to someone. He paid with paypal. The post office lost the rods to the scope stand. He got the empty tube (signature required). I reported it. The post office said they had a system for finding them, but it took time. I kept the buyer informed. He was getting anxious, so I purchased brand new rods for him and had them shipped to him. He sent me an email confirming he had everything. I went into paypal to discover he had reported to them that he did not receive anything. I gave their dispute center the story and a copy of his email confirming receipt. They gave him a refund. I called the dispute center to find out why. They told me that his signature was irrelevant and his email confirming receipt was irrelevant. I had to have a tracking number or they give a refund. They said if you read their suggestions for safe selling, they recommend tracking numbers. I closed my account. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 23. I almost agree with this. Both parties take my money and give it to those who keep them in power (and to themselves). "I think it might be important to point out that this country is a one-party country. Half of that party is called Republican and half is called Democrat. It doesn’t make any difference. All the really good ideas belong to the Libertarians." -- Hugh Downs (1921-) American broadcaster, television host, news anchor, TV producer, author I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet.. 24. Well, that's pretty much what a true libertarian would say. As little government as reasonably possible. I agree with your assessment of those statements above. A true libertarian is not pro gay or muslim or other. Live and let live. Leave gay people alone. Leave muslims alone. Leave christians alone. The government has no business dealing in religion or sex to begin with. If some group or individual threatens others, you squash them regardless of their religion or sexual preference. Otherwise, who cares. I know it just wouldnt be right to kill all the stupid people that we meet..
