  1. Anybody know what slider is used on a Triathlon 190 ? I contacted Aerodyne, but they "need to ask the factory in South Africa for the spec". I was hoping for instant gratification :) thanks !
  2. here's one. and also a Javelin in US Army colors overall Gold looks real nice on Black.
  3. are you sure ? Where do you live and how terrible is your driving record to pay such an outrageous premium ? Even when I was 18 and had a sport bike I never paid even close to half that....
  4. Other than Racers not having too good of a resale value, and some riggers not liking to pack them... they do the job fine. I bet this one is not going to be too freefly friendly. And it will also have velcro riser covers, and most likely a bridle velcroed to the outside of the bottom flap... looks like it has a BOC
  5. yes, a 300 jumps canopy unless jumped in the desert most of its life will most likely still be slink and new-like. lots and LOTS of cnaopies out there with over 1000 jumps, a fair amount with over 2000
  6. I had customs take from a few days to upwards of a week. I have used DHL/FedEx and the Mail system for stuff coming in.
  7. I don't have an ultimate point. Just pointing out the similarities which I haven't seen between other rigs
  8. or maybe its just convenient to deal with someone in the same country who also happens to make good gear. Most popular containers in the world are made in US. So are the most popular canopies. This is an objective statement based on selling a shitload of gear and talking to a shitload of people. Americans are narrow minded, no question about it, but making a blanket statement like yours, is even worse. Or do you think all the foreign made cars in the US are driven by non-Americans ?
  9. It's not tax evasion. You are cheating the customs of the OTHER country, this all is obviously a personal choice.
  10. I have had many transactions with him over the last few years, in fact I just spoke to him a few days ago. No problems with him.
  11. Lots of people like the chin protection a fullface offers, but want the wind on their face. I have done so, as have many others. Just make sure to use "freefall" rated goggles/sunglasses
  12. when they are jumping that is :) no jumping in Russia right now. Not since Jan I believe. administrative problems
  13. SSK article : http://www.cypres-usa.com/cyp16.htm states "When stored as instructed the batteries have a long shelf life; the two year period does not start until they are installed. "
  14. Call PD. I'm fairly sure they have demo canopies available in sizes above 200 sq ft. PD will mail me a canopy to demo?!?!? hell yes. http://www.performancedesigns.com/demo_sport.asp
  15. I just had an identical thing happen on a 700 jump Spectre135 - way too much packing sweat. I paid the $225 for the topskin replacement. I thought that at the price I bought it for, it was a fair deal. At 1000+ jumps on your canopy, technically, the failure is not unexpected. I PERSONALLY think you got what you paid for.
  16. ok, seems like you and I are on the same page. It can be done, but not recommended to be done on regular basis. I believe that's our consensus :)
  17. Dude, HONESTLY, if I felt it was not safe, I would not do it. keep in mind, it's a lot harder to do this with a container where the closing loop is built into the bottom flap, as opposed to the Jav where it comes out of the bottom of the container. I am not trying to be confrontational, I am saying it had been done, and it was done without sacrificing safety, or even good looks. Let me explain what I mean by "sloppy propack". I meant dont tighten up your folds, but rather make them so they fill the bag out evenly. I did not mean to just trashpack it :) The problem with Sunpath is that a blanket "135 will fit" may not work for all the canopies.
  18. I disagree. I have put a 135 9cell into a J3 sized container without any problems. It just needed sloppy pro-packing and it was just fine. assumptions vs. real life experiences :)
  19. I agree with Dave 100%. too much useless chatter here. Too much redundant moronic questions that waste peoples time. dropzone.com is absolutely not a credible source. It's good for unverified secondary data. Talk to people at your local DZ, to gear stores, to instructors with faces and get your answers (or slaps on the face for being an idiot). typing is just way too easy. sorry, venting as well.
  20. I recommend going the easy route of stealing your riggers seal press. Free packjobs for you and all your friends.
  21. are you not the same guy who tried to "teach" BASEjumpers abotu BASE ethics awhile ago ? http://www.basejumper.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2898223 ditto...
  22. Your point is invalid. "back then" - you did not have ZP. "back then" - those were all that you could use. Or rounds. Just because somethin worked "back then" - does not mean that it's a good idea to use it "now" when compared to what's available on the modern market. If not for the progress, we'd still be driving cars with carburetors.... How many are still made without Fuel Injection ? Once again - NOTHING WRONG WITH F111 - but ZP is just better :)
  23. Last few posters are fighting an imaginary argument. Nobody in this thread stated that F111 is undesirable. They stated that given the 3 choices the OP listed the Sabre is the best choice. And bullshit about the hard openings. Large slider or pocket slider will cure that right up. A lot cheaper than biffing every landing. Sabre is a better choice relative to Falcon or PD F111. Skydivers go quite slow compared to jets. Jets go quite slow compared to orbiting satellites. all things relative...
