  1. Exactly, right on. She gave you the truck. You paid for registration, parts, labor (even if you did it, it's still labor)............if she wants it back, she pays for all that. She didn't rent it to you, she gave it to you. Money or no truck. If you have an understandable boss, let them know about the situation. Have her escorted off the premises and if that doesn't work get a restraining order and let the police deal with it. Somewhere in there she'll get the point that it's not ok to harrass you at work. ...and you're in violation of your face!
  2. Proof of what? That the dems aren't buying a report written by the whitehouse and then performed by some general who the report is named after even though he didn't write it? Who blames 'em, remember Mr Powell in front of the UN...."WMD's are in Iraq". That was the exact same thing......and we still haven't found those WMD's. ...and you're in violation of your face!

When they first came out they were turning people's entertainment centers into fireplaces. Several friends have gotten the red wheel of death followed by smoke.....and that's still going on. I've also had some friends who've had no problems whatsoever. ...and you're in violation of your face!

  8. I don't believe it takes all three of those to beat an opponent. Otherwise a 110 lb girl couldn't win over a 180 lb man........the man will have more power. Also, speed.....if your opponent is faster are you doomed to defeat? No. It's the technique. Accuracy as well is not always required......some Ryu (schools) concentrate a lot on precision and accuracy, while others are schools which involve armor....and armor hinders your speed, power, and precision. Accuracy is the most important, but I put little emphasis on speed and power. Those are things that come with time and training. Once you get your technique right those will come. But you do not need to be faster than your opponent. You can't rely on speed, there will be someone faster and you'll fail. For instance, any pressure point hit as you block puts your opponents mind elsewhere......he's concentrating on the pain rather than what's coming next. You just bought yourself a couple of moments in time to move to your next target and took his speed out of it. Same thing with power.....you take his kamae (stance or balance) and his or her power doesn't mean anything. Try landing a hard punch when your off balance. And you don't need power to do that, it's technique. ...and you're in violation of your face!
  9. I agree sparing is essential, hitting a bag for your entire training session will teach you how to beat up a stationary bag real quick. But speed and power come with time............first you develop the precision and then the power. Take baseball for instance.......you can put up the biggest guy possible, but if he doesn't have the precision to hit the ball it's not going anywhere. Seals for instance, when learning CQB skills train at slow speeds......when one of their muzzles crosses a teammate, start over.........til they get it right......they train for precision and speed comes with time. Also a good martial art doesn't require speed, there will always be someone faster. If you rely on speed you are bound to eventually fail, especially as a child. Same thing with power, there is always someone stronger. If you have to use power, your technique is ineffecient. And if you're hitting the right points you don't even need to hit hard. As far as weapons are concerned, a good art will train you in an array of weapons and what they would relate to in a modern environment........bo staff = broomstick, sword = baseball bat, chain weapon = electrical cord, etc. When you see people use rolled up magazines used in movies like The Bourne Supremacy, that's improvised weapons work and it's very real. The reason why a lot of SF guys learn eskrimo/kali is because when they're off in the jungle and have nothing they can use things like sticks. You're out wandering in the park and four guys are attacking you are you gonna cage match them one by one, no you're gonna reach for the first thing you can get. Same thing in your house, let's see the gun is upstairs or the knives are in the kitchen....oh look that's hooked into an outlet with an extension cord. Also things like boxing and kickboxing don't really leave you options...........a buddy of yours gets out of hand at a bar or some guy doesn't really deserve to get his butt kicked, if you only know how to kickbox what are you gonna do.....kick him lightly? True. But you had best spar hard. MA training build a lot of muscle memory, also like skydiving. If you regularly train to pull your punches, when you have a crisis and no time to think you will react just like you trained. Spar. Wear protective gear. Hit hard. Dont train soft or when the time comes you will hit soft. ...and you're in violation of your face!
  10. Pick something that your child wants to do, make sure they work on values, and stop by yourself and sit in on a class and make sure you're comfortable with the people and how they teach. As far as what art or discipline........that's really personal taste. There's two types of martial arts, sport martial arts which are intended to be sports like Karate and UFC fighting.....they are based on rules, they are meant for a one on one match, and have limitations. Then you have combat martial arts, which tend not to be flashy, there are no rules, and things are straight to be point. Just remember giving your kid the skills is no good if the teacher isn't teaching the mental skills as to when to use the physical ones. The physical part is the last resort and should only be used when every other option has failed. The mental training is what builds the confidence. There's no need for it to be an aggressive sport either...........you gotta think about the longevity of the players in the sport. Look at a Muay Thai Kickboxer and then compare that to someone who's been doing non-aggressive martial art....Aikido for instance. Muay Thai Kickboxing is very aggressive, but there's no longevity....most of those guys are done by their mid twenties and are beat to hell. The aikido guys have grandmasters that train up to the end of their lives. Pick something with some lineage, something authentic. There's way too many Mc Dojo's out there, "we're Ed's House of Pain and we'll teach you to beat people up". That's not really what you want to teach your kid. Also, you want to keep your child interested..........things like boxing and kickboxing have a handful of manuevers and that's that. You teach them an art and it takes a lifetime to learn and a lifetime of entertainment and teaching. Plus you learn a lot of things in authentic martial arts like weapons.....swords, knives, chain weapons, bo staff.....things like that will keep your child interested. Here's a list of martial arts....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_martial_arts ...and you're in violation of your face!
  11. Yeah that's great...........looks up the Steven Milloy wiki link............"Among the topics Milloy has addressed are what he believes to be false claims regarding DDT, global warming, Alar, breast implants, secondhand smoke, ozone depletion, and mad cow disease." the man's debunked second-hand smoke, very credible source there. Just follow his rules and then anything that he doesn't like will be found inadmissable. Newsweek just had a big thing on global warming and the nay-sayers and how they're funded, here's the link for the article: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20122975/site/newsweek/ Here's another article that I found that's pretty interestinghttp://www.infoimagination.org/ps/warm/index.html, here's a clip that states our problems: "our challenge History shows that democracratic forms of government react poorly when facing a potential crisis. Due to the power of special interest groups, governmental action becomes gridlocked. For example, a $40,000 study recently reported that 864,000 Blacks and 511,000 Hispanics would lose their jobs if the U.S. adopts a United Nations' treaty to reduce greenhouse gases. Who commissioned the study? A coal industry group, the Center for Energy and Economic Development, the A. Phillip Randolph Institute, the Latin American Management Association, the National Black Chamber of Commerce, the National Institute for Latino Development, the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement [Weekly Alibi, July 13-19, p.9]." And of course it wouldn't be our fault, it's not like there's people with enough proof for this to take place.......http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6908719/site/newsweek/ You gotta realize where the motives come from here............the nay-sayers are paid for by the oil, coal, etc. corporations.....they're told to keep the public buying. It's the exact same thing the tobacco industry did with cigarettes......"no they're good for you" "there is no link to cancer". People believed them with that too. Why, because they had "experts" and "scientists" that were paid by the tobacco company to find the results that they wanted. This is the exact same thing. And how long did the tobacco company get away with that..........it took them decades to finally admit that they were lying to make a profit. Plus, the guy in charge of this country....guess what, his family and friends got and are still getting rich and richer off of oil. Why do you think he's not agreeing to cut down greenhouse emissions. "Gotta keep 'em buying while we can, we need another couple of billion". ...and you're in violation of your face!
  12. Don't do that with a dog or you might end up with a face like mine. Yeah....dogs are different than a small bird. Most of the dog books I've read said to muzzle an injured dog before attempting to transport it. You never know how an injured animal is going to respond. ...and you're in violation of your face!
  13. Or you could make a prank pregnancy test that always comes up positive. ...and you're in violation of your face!
  14. Speaking from experience, put it back where you found it and let nature take it's course. I've tried many times to take in injured birds and I think I just prolonged their death process. We have a 24 hour emergency vet service that deals with wildlife for "free" (they get donations from the public). Anyways, I'm driving down the road and see a bird smack some cars windshield, roll over the car, and land in the middle of the road flailing around in traffic. Car just keeps going. So I stop and pick the poor little guy up, call the vet and tell them I'm underway with an injured animal, and stop my journey to work and head to the vet's office. Afterall, I'm not gonna let some animal get run over because I'm too lazy. I get there and they take the bird in back and give you a little card with an ID number for the animal so you can call and check to see what happened with the animal. I called later that afternoon, the bird is fine..........this is what the vet tells me, a lot of birds get dazed when they hit something.....so they're just there trying to recuperate and if neglected.....splat. So hadn't I picked the little bird up, he would've probably been run over. So your best bet is actually taking the animal to the vet and let them do their job. ...and you're in violation of your face!

  16. From what I've read, the batteries 10 to 15 years ago had no problem at the 100,000 mile mark and were still running fine. I wouldn't consider that a life reducing problem, I'll read some more on it. As far as the 85% charge rate in an hour............I was wrong, over the last decade they've developed fast chargers with which you can get an 85% charge within 40 minutes. That would be about the same time as shopping or going out for lunch. Here's the quote and source: "Amid the talk of new electric sports cars from Tesla and Mullen, we can't forget all the conversion guys turning regular cars into silent runners. For example, World Class Exotics of West Palm Beach, Florida, which handles all sorts of electric-car projects, including this Porsche 959-look EV. As is, it has a range of 100 miles range at 60 mph (top speed 100 mph) but can be upgrated to lithium-ion batteries for a 200+ mile range using. It's powered by a NetGain "WARP" 11" motor, hooked to a 2000-amp, water-cooled Zilla controller, with a five-speed 915 Porsche transmission attached for power transfer. It comes with a fast-charger that can give the batteries a 85% charge in 40 minutes. For you? $65,000. Or, you can have that old Rolls in the barn converted (yes, they can do that). – Mike Spinelli" http://jalopnik.com/cars/ev/index.xml Red Herring? I'm not sure if you're familiar with the way solar and wind energy is hooked into the electrical grid...it's plugged into the wiring and actually makes your electric meter spin backwards when it's collecting energy because that energy that you're making gets used by someone else and the power company charges them for it. So it's making you money all day. Since a full charge 10 to 15 years ago would take 3-4 hours and now they have fast chargers that can do 85% in 40 minutes.....you shouldn't be charging it very long at all. Plus add in the fact that your average american driver only uses 34 miles per day, with a 300 mile range that would mean you only used 11.4% and that would be all that you'd have to recharge. ...and you're in violation of your face!
  17. especially when we're talking about solar panels, which are anything but free, esp in a time frame that is less than a decade. If you want cheap high performance, you get a motorcycle. $10 will get you 0-60 un under 3 seconds, with 40mpg. But if you want extra seats, cargo, air bags, a roof, you have to pay for it. At the moment, you pay a considerable cost premium for hybrids, with most of the 'savings' being intangibles rather than dollars saved. The electrics would be more on both factors. You're correct that currently the technology will cost you a lot, but that's also because it's not in mass production. You start pumping it out in the quantities of McD's cheeseburgers and prices will drop. ...and you're in violation of your face!
  18. You are correct about the long trips.......with current battery technology an EV would get approximately 300 miles out of a complete charge and a person would be about to get a complete charge in about 4 hours and an 85% charge in about an hour. So you would essentially have to grab food and take bathroom breaks and take your time if you were travelling cross-country and get an 85% charge at each stop. If I recall correctly california put in place public charging stations where the cars could be stored while at work......just like a parking lot. With the average cost of a charge being somewhere around $3 it could be part of a public parking structure. There would be ways to work that out. Considering your average american drives 34 miles a day, it still wouldn't be an issue for the majority of the population. You would "plug" the car in when you get home and let it charge overnight........plus energy prices go down in the evenings in a lot of states as there is less demand. And if you were using solar power then it wouldn't even be an issue. ...and you're in violation of your face!
  19. uh, because there are only a 1000 or two teslas being built and they cost 100 grand each? It's great technology, but it's not a solution. It's a stepping stone, hopefully, because even their thoughts on producing sedans will be at twice the average cost of a car. The larger sized hybrids are delivering negligable improvements in fuel economy. Part of the that is design - they're using it to pitch "green"ness to idiot and performance to car lovers. So at the moment, there's nothing in the electric/hybrid realm to get the SUV owners to change. Tesla was just an example...........and the reason they are so expensive is because it's a high performance car that's electric. "DETROIT – The ultimate Corvette—the 2006 Corvette Z06—is posting numbers at the track and on the window sticker that will get attention. Chevrolet has announced that the fastest Corvette ever—the 505-horsepower Corvette Z06—will achieve 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds while still in first gear, and pricing will start at $65,800, including destination and freight charges. " The tesla goes 0-60mph in 4 seconds and you only have to plug it in............base price $96,800. While it's still $30k more.......put it into mass production and that price will come down. GM had the EV1 which "The price for the car used to compute lease payments was US$33,995 to US$43,995, which made for lease payments of US$299 to over US$574 per month." They were only available for lease. Now you're saying $30k to $40k?........but think of this a 2007 Prius starts at $22,175 and think of how much you spend on fuel and maintenance each year. The benefits of an electric: 1 - mass production would bring the price down 2 - no more oil changes, air filters, etc. 3 - no more gas stations 4 - most people that had these cars installed solar panels to pretty much make it free to use 5 - 0 emissions While hybrids are out now, it's not a fix..........it's a delay. And even though there may be nothing out there in the hybrid world. The following vehicles also had EV varients: GM EV1 Honda EV Plus Toyota RAV4 EV Ford Ranger EV Nissan Altra EV And that's just to name a few. The military has EV tanks, so it's definitely possible to use this technology for a big-ass SUV....if that's what you want. And no emissions is definitely a solution, hybrids are the stepping stone because we're still relying on a non-replenishable energy source. Solar and hydro are free energy. And if you're worried about seeing the solar panels, this company http://www.sunpowercorp.com/index.html makes solar cells that replace the shingles on your roof.....replace them all or just a few. Plus with the cutdown on fossil fuels like oil it would make us more self reliant and you would essentially be fighting terrorism since it's funded by oil. ...and you're in violation of your face!
  20. Why not do what california put in place to begin with and convert to electric? Performance isn't an issue? This car gets 0-60mph in 4 seconds.......http://www.teslamotors.com/ EV's (electric vehicles) were in use in california..........and they worked quite well. The improved the range to somewhere in the vacinity of 300 miles per charge but that technology was never implemented by GM, with the new batteries you can get an 85% charge over lunch and a 100% charge over night in about 4 hours, a tune-up consisted of rotating the tires and filling the washer fluid, they never even had to replace brakepads during their time in service because the electric motor also provides engine braking, and best of all........there's no emissions. It wasn't just little geo metro like cars either.........look at the link above, the tesla is a pretty awesome car. They also had SUV's, Trucks, and regular passenger cars. So what happened..........essentially the car manufacturers sued the state of california, the oil companies campaigned against the ev's, the current administration sued california, and the California Air Resources Board finally.............etc., you can read about it here http://www.ev1.org/ Now you're thinking this is 50 years down the road and they only had 10 test cars out there right? False, for 6 years there were somewhere around 500 cars out there..........toyota was the only company to let people purchase them, all the other companies put the vehicles out on lease.........which is why you can only find Toyota Rav-4's out there now............once the California laws were changed, GM and the other manufacturers reeled in all the EV's and had them destroyed. Patents for the batteries for instance were sold to Chevron, as were some of the other parts. GM claimed there was no public demand for the vehicles, even through there was a list of 4,000 people (that's just in California). The only reason the vehicles were ever made was the Zero Emissions Law, which the state changed after getting sued and now it's like it never existed. Anyways...........so unlike Hydrogen which takes a lot of energy to make and will take decades to make, the technology is here and works, but was purchased and snubbed by the oil giants. There are still a few manufacturers that make electric cars, like tesla, and there are a few places that specialize in converting any car into an electric. The benefits zero emissions, low maintenance, no noise, you charge it at home, and never have to make a gas station stop again.........it's like waking up with a full tank of fuel every morning. ...and you're in violation of your face!

I would hope the younger kids were being escorted by adults....then again the problem may not big that big either. ...and you're in violation of your face!
  23. this was the first thing that popped up on the news segment of my homepage.......... Biden Says Bush Wants to Delay Chaos 2007-08-28 18:59:59 The Associated Press By MIKE GLOVER Associated Press Writer DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Democrat Joe Biden charged Tuesday that President Bush's policies in Iraq are designed to confuse voters and ensure that a chaotic end to the war is delayed until after he leaves office. Biden pointed to the turmoil that accompanied the end of the Vietnam War, with Americans plucked from the roof of the U.S. Embassy as enemy troops poured into Saigon. He said Bush wants to avoid such a stain on the end of his presidency. "They would not be the ones who would have to deal with the reality of picking people up off the roofs of the embassy," said Biden, a Delaware senator and presidential candidate. Biden, who heads the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said Congress will launch hearings on the Iraq war the first week it's back in session. He rejected Bush's assertion that an increase in the number of troops has improved the situation in Iraq. Speaking at a news conference, Biden called for a diplomatic offensive that would reach out to major industrial nations as well as Iraq's neighbors. "It's long past the time we make Iraq the world's problem, not our own," he said. Earlier in the day, Bush defended his war strategy in a speech to veterans and warned that a withdrawal of troops would threaten the United States. But Biden said Democrats and Republicans have concluded that the president's Iraq policy is doomed — he compared it to the Bush administration's response to Hurricane Katrina. "The president continues to suffer from what I refer to as the Katrina complex," he said. "The Katrina complex is, ignore all the warnings, bad things happen, continue to follow the same bad, failed policy and things get worse and worse. That's exactly what this policy is doing to us." Biden said a series of reports have refuted the claim that Iraq was somehow related to the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. "That should put to rest once and for all the false refrain that President Bush keeps repeating and repeated today," he said. ...and you're in violation of your face!
  24. Acts of personal stupidity don't count as dangers on the population.............you play golf in a thunderstorm, that's your own fault.......you step off the bus when the water is up to the bumper and there's fallen powerlines in it, that's your own fault (in this case I really would not consider the kid at fault, but who's parents let them out in a storm like that....that's questionable)............you don't trim the old rotting tree that's overshadowing your house, that's your fault. Those things happen.......nature has a big hand up on us. And despite how safe we think we are, it's pretty easy for nature to show us who's boss. But at the same time, as a parent you have a responsibility to your child to reduce those risks and keep them safe..........sending them out with a gun saying ok if you get attacked use this is one option. But at the same time, as I said previously.......there's a simpler solution, just move. I'm not saying that's your only option, but it is another option and it would be a lot easier on your child. And the most important thing in this picture is your child. ...and you're in violation of your face!
  25. Recent news headlines from your home town of Madison, Wisconsin:Three people electrocuted Tree falls on home Sexual assault Lightning kills golferIt ain't safe there! Why would you intentionally put your children in harm's way like this? Grab the kids and run for your lives! P.S. To where will you run to avoid these dangers? And your point is? Those things can happen anywhere............but you don't see bear maulings on the uprise do you? Storms would explain the tree falling on a house and dropping power lines down on the street. Are you more likely do run into a sexual assault case in a larger city or a smaller town? I wouldn't say madison is a small town, but when you compare it to chicago or milwaukee.....it's a small town. Your argument is that dangers are everywhere..........and I agree with you on that. But you can minimize the amount of dangers that are in your area by choosing a good location. Things may change over time, but then it's time to relocate. If you wanna keep your kids around wild polar bears and leave them to fend for their own on the way to class then go ahead..........I'll make sure mine stay away from them, unless we're at the zoo. ...and you're in violation of your face!
