So then how do 18,000+ people die last year because they cannot afford healthcare if we don't turn people away? Because the US doesn't NEED the help. The homeless and the illegals ARE getting healthcare here. Most ER's cannot, as a matter of law, turn anyone away. Apparently that is not the case in other countries. Remember the influx into the US of refugees from (socialist/communist) Vietnam in the late 70's? Did they croak in massive numbers due to lack of health care services? Nope. Did the US have to rely on outside assistance to help them? I don't know for certain, but I really doubt it. The SE Asian immigrants and their offspring are now some of the brightest, most hardworking, and successful Americans. ...and you're in violation of your face!

Unless you're homeless or an illegal immigrant Illegal immigrants? So you're saying the US should pay for healthcare for everybody, even those that aren't supposed to be here? Good luck with that.....we can't even manage to budget enough so our own people are getting healthcare. The homeless thing is sad though......I'm glad that the doctor's without borders people are helping them out. Then again I don't live in Japan, so I don't know the exact circumstances either. But it's still sad. I wonder why they don't help out in the US....I'm sure they could use the help in New Orleans or any of the other 18,000 people that died last year due to not being able to afford healthcare? ...and you're in violation of your face!

You might have to move quickly on this but it's on YouTube, just search for the sections here's a link for the first part......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zam4EWvU_Hs ...and you're in violation of your face!

That's interesting. The last person that I talked about Canada was a friend's cousin, who moved there from the US. And she said she was more than happy with it. She loved the comfort of being able to go to the doctor is she needed to....regardless of whatever is going on financially. Then again Canada is ranked 30th on the list.....for whatever that counts. ...and you're in violation of your face!

Cuba's program may be the best in the world - if that's what you are looking for. That is, a system that provides some of the best care in the world for foreigners with money or for the governmental elite and lets the citizens wither on the vine. What's the best car in the world? What's the best dinner entree in the world? What is the best national park? What is the best name for a boy? What is the best television show? What is the best healthcare system? You are arguing your idea of the "best." As is WHO. And because of YOUR belief, everybody should be forced into it. I have my beliefs, too. Socialized health care? Fine, but let me opt out of it. It's not best for me. But I DO know that there is no such thing as a $15k car that can go 230 mph and get 40mpg, which is the functional equivalent of what people want from healthcare. It can't happen. Who seems to rank the healthcare systems by what's best for everybody, not just the priviledged few...........which is the way it should be. Healthcare is something everybody should have, not just those that are "special" enough. It's a great response though, "let's not even try because I don't think it could work". I bet people heard that a lot when some "crazy" people were talking about giving england a letter called the Declaration of Independence. ...and you're in violation of your face!

I'm not disagreeing with you there, but if they're not fit to run it........put somebody in that job who can. We shouldn't be saying let's not do it because they can't do the job right.......we should be saying let's get somebody in there that will do the job right. ...and you're in violation of your face!

No response so far. Does the need for international volunteer emergency healthcare assistance not matter? Apparently, the WHO doesn't think it's important in re their study. Well let's see.........the first one I tried to find was france......................"Whilst healthcare and legal solutions do exist, undocumented migrants in France experience many difficulties in obtaining the information and documents necessary to access state medical aid."...................So, in other words, the illegal immigrants can't get the appropriate documents, like papers that they are there legally, and therefore can't get government healthcare. Sounds like they don't want to waste money on people who aren't supposed to be there anyway..............that's not a national epidemic of not being able to treat their own citizens. Then I went further down the list......just to see if that was just the case for the top countries. Germany, which was ranked 25th on the World Health Organization list....plus they're right next door to France. They're not even on the list of the Doctor's Without Borders website. 1 France ... *illegal immigrants 2 Italy ... *illegal immigrants 3 San Marino ... not on list 4 Andorra ... not on list 5 Malta ... not on list 6 Singapore ... not on list 7 Spain ... *illegal immigrants 8 Oman ... not on list 9 Austria ... not on list 10 Japan ... *homeless 11 Norway ... not on list 12 Portugal ... not on list 13 Monaco ... not on list 14 Greece ... not on list 15 Iceland ... not on list 16 Luxembourg ... *illegal immigrants & anti-drug campaign 17 Netherlands ... not on list 18 United Kingdom ... not on list 19 Ireland ... not on list 20 Switzerland ...* see below 21 Belgium ... *illegal immigrants & free anonymous HIV testing 22 Colombia ... * see below 23 Sweden ... not on list 24 Cyprus ... not on list 25 Germany ... not on list 26 Saudi Arabia ... not on list 27 United Arab Emirates ... not on list 28 Israel ... not on list 29 Morocco ... *illegal immigrants 30 Canada ... not on list 31 Finland ... not on list 32 Australia ... not on list 33 Chile ... not on list 34 Denmark ... not on list 35 Dominica ... not on list 36 Costa Rica ... not on list 37 United States of America ... not on list 38 Slovenia ... not on list 39 Cuba ... not on list 20 Switzerland....has our system, "Switzerland boasts one of the highest standards of living in the world, and many residents benefit from excellent healthcare. With substantial fees and/or health insurance required to see a doctor, however, barriers in accessing medical services exist for a sector of the population. Even at the primary care level, many people face difficulties getting even the most basic and necessary healthcare." 22 Colombia....doesn't really sound like a healthcare system problem, more like a civil war problem that's keeping people from getting to the healthcare...."Now in its fifth decade, ongoing violent conflict in Colombia has caused the displacement of over two million people. Whilst many people in remote villages find themselves cut off from basic healthcare services, including immunisation programs, those who have fled to urban shantytowns are subject to poverty, disease and rampant violence. Many people throughout the country are also suffering from mental disorders including acute trauma caused by witnessing or being victims of violent events, but areas affected by violence are often isolated and rarely benefit from visits by healthcare workers." Can't really blame the healthcare system for that unless the healthcare workers are out there running these people from their homes with uzi's. Conclusions............out of 39 only 9 were on the list, 8 of which were for Illegal Immigrants (1 of which also had Free Anonymous HIV Testing & 1 of which also had an Anti-Drug Campaign) and the last one on the list was Japan for the homeless. Personally, if a system isn't catering to the illegal immigrants.....it seems like the system is working, it's made for it's citizens and not the rest of the world. The Free Anonymous HIV Testing.....turns out that Belgium did offer HIV testing.....but it wasn't anonymous, which a lot of people had a problem with. But as of Jan 1 2006 the country of Belgium now has Free Anonymous HIV testing. We don't even have free and anonymous HIV testing. The Anti-Drug Campaign in Luxembourg.....Luxembourg had a major drug problem among teens, so the group decided to help out. We have programs like that all the time.....Mother's Against Drunk Driving for instance....that didn't start out a government program. So is that a strike against us. No, it's a group who is concerned trying to help. The homeless thing, that I have an issue with.....and that should be marked as a negative. Somewhere around 8,000 people not being covered because "Too young to collect a pension and too old to compete for a decreasing pool of jobs". Then again last year we had what.......18,000 people die because they couldn't afford healthcare. But anyways, that's still only one country out of 39. So there's your answer..... 1 out of the top 39 countries had care for its citizens from Doctor's Without Borders. ...and you're in violation of your face!

And yet, you want those SAME people to run ALL of it??? Yeah, that makes sense...have the same folks that couldn't keep a WHOREHOUSE in the black run the healthcare services. No, I want other people who have actual business sense to run it......people who aren't purchased through contribution funds or incentives. You're the one advocating a national healthcare system... that means it's going to be fed.gov running it....but good to know you're finally starting to open your eyes to the glaring problems associated with it. Having one national system would be the most efficient way to run healthcare...........rather than a mess of different systems, you only have to deal with one. If current leadership is not good enough to do it, then we need new leadership. This is what these people get paid for.....if they're not competant to do their job then they should get fired. No, I'm not blind to the problems with it. But let's get there first and then worry about the little problems. Get everybody covered, then worry about perfecting it. ...and you're in violation of your face!

Right. Stating that Cuba's health system is worse than ours when the report says so is like stating the obvious. But then trying to argue that for that reason socialized medicine sucks is just plain stupid as those systems above our 37th place are socialized medicine. But I also would not label the US as having a socialized healthcare system either......we may have a couple of parts of our healthcare system that are socializd, things like medicare. But they are ineffecient and run by people who couldn't budget a popsicle stand. The majority of our healthcare system is like a feudal system where the higher class workers get good healthcare and the lower class "scum" can get bent.....it's all about the benjamins. And yes, I disagree with that.....using one standard across the board would make things cheaper. Letting companies giver their workers sub-par healthcare to save costs is BS....it's just another way for the rich to save a few million while the poor are scrambling to make rent. Allowing things like pre-existing conditions does the same thing....it's more BS, just another way for them to not cover stuff when you're paying for healthcare insurance. The reason we got ranked so low on that list is because our population health is down when compared to those other countries, because our government budgets and spends money inefficiently on healthcare, our current system ineffectively prevents sickness, and our system does not treat everyone fairly.....everyone does not get the same coverage, etc. etc.. And that's true, it's that simple. ...and you're in violation of your face!

You your argument is that since we're rated 37th on the international healthcare evaluation and that cuba is ranked 39th that they have worse healthcare than we do? I would sort of agree with you on that. I don't believe it speaks about the utopian socialized medicine system though..............you can't pick number 39 on the list and say that specific style of healthcare sucks, that's like picking the slowest car on a team and deciding the overall winner of the race by which team has the fastest slow-car. Here's only up to number 39, since we're ranked 37 and cuba is ranked 39. so how many of these are socialized medicine and how many are not? Rank Country 1 France 2 Italy 3 San Marino 4 Andorra 5 Malta 6 Singapore 7 Spain 8 Oman 9 Austria 10 Japan 11 Norway 12 Portugal 13 Monaco 14 Greece 15 Iceland 16 Luxembourg 17 Netherlands 18 United Kingdom 19 Ireland 20 Switzerland 21 Belgium 22 Colombia 23 Sweden 24 Cyprus 25 Germany 26 Saudi Arabia 27 United Arab Emirates 28 Israel 29 Morocco 30 Canada 31 Finland 32 Australia 33 Chile 34 Denmark 35 Dominica 36 Costa Rica 37 United States of America 38 Slovenia 39 Cuba ...and you're in violation of your face!

I think it has to do with the teacher and the parents. It's the teacher's responsibility to instill those morals and teach the kids when and where to use that stuff. There's usually a punishment system for using it when you're not supposed to. And it's the parents responsibility to monitor their child and enforce the same rules as their teacher in regards to the martial arts and to notify the teacher if something happens. If your friend thought it was cute, then assuming the child was probably encouraged to do that.......my guess is the teacher would have thought different, but that the child didn't act that way in class. I've heard of children studying before the age of 2.....so I think it's possible at any age. It all depends on how it's taught. ...and you're in violation of your face!

$800 ?!? F that............http://www.minipocketrockets.com/ A couple of years ago we got five of them and started doing parking lot races just for kicks......what a blast. and yes, helmet is a minimum requirement. Nothing like highsiding and getting your head slammed into the pavement........that'll leave you counting stars regardless if it's a pocketbike or a real one. Gloves are helpful too as most of the time things turned into a bumpercar-style race. ...and you're in violation of your face!

To be honest, I love my PS3.......the way the PS.Network is setup is awesome.........and Resistance Fall of Man is a really impressive first-gen game. They do seem to be having a hard time getting games out though.....mostly due to the processor. Most game manufacturer's are not familiar with programming for it. The processor consists of mutliple processors and therefore different things like enemy AI and gravity can be assigned to it's own processor making the PS3 more powerful and it has more potential. The other thing you have to look at is the fact that XB360 is a veteran system, it's been out for awhile as opposed to the PS3.....so of course the game manufacturer's will be familiar with the programming and there will be more games. But with the things that are on the way for PS3 there will be a new XBox system coming out to compete as the system is being used to it's limits right now. things like ....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWubf5v-930&mode=related&search= and with the PS.Network being free and having free demos and extra game content............plus with PS3 Home http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZY2vwlh5-g underway, that will change a lot of things. It will revolutionize the multiplayer environment. Plus you can use your PS1 and PS2 games on your PS3. ...and you're in violation of your face!

Sounds like your son enjoys it. And I agree, it is definitely better to be prepared.........you train because it could happen, not because you know it will. ...and you're in violation of your face!

If they are so confident in their positions why dont they wait until the report is presented to congress? Answer, THEY CANT AFFORD ANYTHING POSITIVE BECAUSE THEY HAVE LAID THEIR POLITICAL FUTURE ON DEFEAT AND LEAVING IRAQ. Now add to this the news reports today where the Dems are now change thier stratagy about leaving Iraq. Yeah, unfortunately with us being there on false-pretenses to begin with it's kind of hard to trust the guys who put us there, which happen to be the same people writing the report. I think the dems are smart enough to know that part of the population is gullible enough to buy a trumped up report and want to counteract it right away. I don't think it's as easy as just leaving and the dems are starting to realize that. The police that we're training are moon-lighting as insurgents and there's public officials getting knocked off on a monthly basis. Just leaving is gonna leave the country in shambles and let terrorist groups take over. And this changes what facts? Unfortunately those are the way things are and have been for half a decade. Maybe it's time to ditch that horse mid-stream or change the course and try something different that might work. Repeating the same action and expecting a different outcome is pretty f'ing stupid. If you want an accurate report of how things are going over there, then have the middle-ranked officers that are actually on the ground leading our troops write it. Having the white house write that report is like you grading your own final in college, you're definitely gonna get an A+ in that class. There's a reason why the British Troops just started pulling out of Iraq and it's not because things are going good. I don't think we're getting the whole story here...........you can try to polish a terd, but in the end your hands are still covered in shit. In fact there was just a report "authored by a 20-member panel comprised mostly of retired senior military and police officers".........http://www.charter.net/news/read.php?id=13984153&ps=1018&_LT=HOME_LARSDCCL3_UNEWS...........they said things like "We need to start transitioning to an Iraqi lead," no matter the timeframe, said retired Army Gen. George Joulwan, a panel member and former NATO commander in Europe. Hmm, I read this later but if your conclusions are correct, they support what Bush is saying and doing. Thanks Not quite...............I don't think sending more troops over is transitioning towards Iraqui leadership. As a matter of fact, it's the exact opposite....the report stated that we need to cut down on our military force in Iraq because Iraquis are taking our increase in troops as a sign of a permanent occupation of the country. They also said avoided the timeline though........but then again things like this don't help http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/09/04/america/bremer.php, as now we need to spend time and billions to rebuild it. ...and you're in violation of your face!

Martial Arts isn't just about physical self-defense, there's mental self-defense too...........just don't put yourself in that situation, if you are in that situation then try to walk away, if that doesn't work try to talk your way out of it, and finally if all that doesn't work and you're forced to defend yourself then only do that if you are backed into a corner so to speak. There's way more to learn than block and kick. They teach kids how to deal with strangers at a mall following them, or strangers asking them to help find their dog, give them self confidence to deal with bullies,etc.........the physical stuff is a last resort. And the only way to act properly in those situation is to practice them. Plus a lot of times, they train for situations that most parents just wouldn't think of. As far as the gun thing......if you have training or not and are in that situation, you will be better off having learned some disarm techniques. But once again, that's only as a last resort after all your "mental" techniques have failed. ...and you're in violation of your face!

It's a skill, like anything else.........skydiving for instance. There's techniques you pick up and there's techniques that you can learn.
