Anti-wanking activist Christine O'Donnell gets it wrong.

This thread got me perusing some more Monty Python clips, and I found one that pretty much sums up the SC. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAaWvVFERVA&NR=1 Muff #5048 -

Is it bad that these are the first 2 thing that came to my mind when reading the article? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yp_l5ntikaU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUspLVStPbk Muff #5048 -
Jumping with a small banner tomorrow.

IMHO, You're putting WAY too much thought into this. A bit of plastic/nylon covering the a/c control surfaces wouldn't make any difference in this case. If you would like to prove me wrong, then please link an article where someone flying z 3'x2 1/2' banner brought down an airplane. If you cant do this than my opinion still stands. Muff #5048 -

If you look at the dimensions It doesn't matter if he's only holding it by one corner. It aint gonna reach the tail. From a logistical standpoint, I just dont see how a banner of this size would adversely affect the a/c. As far as a hazard to the canopy; well watch a few tube jumpers on deployment (tubes are WAY longer and bigger than the banner he described). Muff #5048 -

Here's the way "I" would do it. I would roll the banner from the end down to the handle. I would then have a vid/still person on the far end of the strut and climb out onto the step with the rolled banner in hand. Then I would let go of the rolled portion of the banner, have the vidiot shoot a few pics and then exit. The biggest thing I would do is make damn sure that banner is in my left hand come pull time. You may also have line twist's in which the banner gets caught up (happened to me once jumping a streamer). That really isn't a "problem" so long as you can get out of the twist's easily (ie. your parachute isn't turning and diving rapidly). Have fun. Be safe, and get advice from some ff'ers at your dz that have done tube jumps before. Muff #5048 -

COOL! Gonna be great to be a part of something like this. Let me know if you want some coins made up. Ive got a local company here who makes them. All I would need is the front and back design and how many we need. Muff #5048 -

Thanks for the update Scott. I forgot to ask you how much we were up to while I was at the DZ today. I really hope I win the GoPro. That way I can be a hero! Muff #5048 -
Hey! I resemble that remark. I kill zombies frequently, in an armchair, while drinking beer. And I hate to tell ya, but apparently you've never seen highly motivated nazi-zombies. They move quite fast. OWWWW....I'm 'So Scared' Nazi Zombies are the Paris Hilton's of the Zombie world, I kill a couple dozen with a rusty butter knife while waiting for my breakfast pop-tarts to cook! ...and speakin' of Pop-tarts, ya wanna REAL challenge...take on a half a dozen Red-Headed Biker Babe Stripper Zombies! Ya cut of THEIR heads and they'll pick it up by the hair swinging it like a middle ages mace and mash yer melon to mush. Man, I hope I get to meet you one day.

Ah yes. The mighty Ma Deuce. Problem is you're gonna run out of gun juice sooner or later, and what if that happens and you still have a handful of zombies left? Hence, the discussion about weapons that do not require reloading. Muff #5048

Let's play a game you and I. It's called hide and go fuck yourself. Muff #5048

I agree. He is a retard, but the fact that a better edged weapon could exist for such a purpose is the point of the discussion. For example, why not a heavy sword? Well the answer is easy to me. I can't wield one in a timely fashion, but say a sickle... that would give you more distance, but the cutting surface is very small. Kind of looking at what edged weapons people would use and why. Muff #5048
-
So I was debating with my friend today what would be the BEST edged weapon in the event of a zombie apocalypse. The scenario I'm talking about here is say, you have 20ish zombies that need killing and you've exhausted your ammo supply and still have 3-4 zombies left to deal with. My thought was to use a katana due to it's light weight and uber sharpness. He was arguing that the machete was a better option since the cutting surface carries more weight. My argument was that if they can get that close (enough for you to use a machete) then you're fucked. Any opinions here? And, yes. This is the shit I talk with my coworkers about. Muff #5048
-
Nope. But I do think this would be the best option if I did. Another option is ask an aquaintance for a ride. Tell them you'll pay for gas and buy them lunch. That's all it would take for me to drive somebody somewhere an hour or 2 away. Muff #5048
-
Where's the "drive" option? Do you have a car? Muff #5048

The solution to that is very simple. Buy an analog Alti with a glow in the dark dial. My Galaxy has that feature and it works great on night jumps. WARNING: NOT ALL Alti-2 Galaxys have this feature! It is an optional feature.... But WELL worth the couple of bucks it costs. Are you talking about the dial or the back face? Muff #5048
-
+1 I understand the whole "analog can stick" argument, but I will give you my personal experience with one. Shortly after graduating AFF I bought a Galaxy (jump #8 IIRC). Throughout the time I've owned this altimeter (yes I still use it) I have dropped it a few times on concrete, had to clean the mud/dirt out of it from PLF landings, banged it against the a/c multiple times (usually during climbout and exit), have had it banged on by others in freefall, been stepped on a few times, and most recently it spent the night submerged in rain water (at LP when I left it in my upturned helmet outside overnight). After all that it still works very well, and now it is used on my mudflap for wingsuiting. I'm sure others haven't been so lucky, but mine has NEVER failed. Go with one. You'll be happy you did. Oh yeah, and it doesn't need batteries to work. Muff #5048

I have a question, Can any service member be a part of this? What are the requirements? Do you simply have to serve/have served? Do you have to have been deployed? Do you have to retire? Just asking because I would like to be a part too, but I'm still 11 years from retirement. Muff #5048 -
You should be having a much easier time in your P2 than your V1 ... besides, if you're outflying everyone in your P2 than you should be working on backfying your P2.
-
Registration complete. Going to be interesting learning how to make my tall thin frame fly with normal size people. What's really funny is I'm better flocking in my v-1 than my P-2 go figure... Muff #5048

Thanks for the advice everyone. It kind of sucks to not have any experienced coaches around the dz. We basically have to watch videos try stuff and see how it goes. Not really a good learning tool. Muff #5048
