  1. Wait till you get to start doing other new stuff. Always learn something on every jump and the fun will never end. Muff #5048
  2. Im probably gonna go. Would be nice to be able to finally wear a t-shirt and shorts on a jump again. Muff #5048
  3. 0:4:0 2Fri, 2Sat Would have got more, but the weather turned to shit on Saturday at about noon. Muff #5048
  4. Thanks for the tip. My lense goes from 3.8-34. So 27 is kinda mid range I guess, but I never knew that about using the upper end of the fstop range. Again thanks. Muff #5048
  5. Is there some part of the student jumps that you think you won't enjoy? I think he means cheaper. It was a whole lot more enjoyable for me when I finally didnt have to pay $175 a jump and could make multiple jumps in a day. Muff #5048
  6. Agreed. Wiley X frames can accomodate most perscriptions (unless you wanted to wear contacts instead). Unfortunately my eyes are so bad that I have to use glasses of some variety to correct it. But if you live anywhere near a military base or have friends that are in the military then you might try seeing (pun intended) if they will hook you up. I think on base the frames with standard sunglass lenses are somewhere in the $100 range. Muff #5048
  7. Thanks. But like I said the manual was less than helpfull on this topic. And it wasnt just one fence post. I shot a whole line of them trying to keep as many of them in focus as possible. I have a Pentax K10D and Im uncertian if it has a depth of field mode (again book not so clear), but in manual mode with autofocus off I was able to get some nice pics of the fence line while using an fstop of 22-27. 8. My container was built for a 190. When my brother bought it from a guy it had a 170 in it. And I currently have a 210 spectre in it. Rigs tend to be pretty lienient(sp). Muff #5048
  9. I have an empty milk 1 gal milk jug with a picture of a skydiver drawn on the side. All loose change + $100 a month goes in there. Whenever I want to buy some gear or go to a boogie...BAM!! instant funding. Muff #5048
  10. Ok so I tried experimenting with it last night. My grandpa is a pretty big camera enthusiast so he was talking me through it on the phone. What ended up working was an fstop of 27 on app priority (I was shooting a leangth of fence post). The only thing is your exposure time is anywhere between .5 all the way up to 2 sec depending on lighting and at that kind of distance the dinky little flash on the camer is of no avail. I used my tripod and acually got some pretty decent photographs (sorry about not posting them but I didnt bring my cam to work today). Anyhow, thanks for the help. That website set me in the right direction. Muff #5048
  11. It depends largly on the car. Do that in a Geo Metro and youll likely kill it. On the other hand my brothers BMW can cruise at that speed for some time with no trouble. BTW, newer model accords are very well built and can handle about 90ish on the highway all day long (mom has one). Muff #5048
  12. Awsome. Thanks. When does your DZ open back up anyway? Muff #5048
  13. Dont laugh. I bounced a cell phone at the Sweetheart Boogie in Mesquite. Muff #5048
  14. Can anybody tell me how to focus on 2 objects at the same time while they are different distances away with a dslr. The book that came with my camera said something about "depth of field" but doesnt really go too far into it. Muff #5048
  15. I'll do it. Sound interesting. BTW, what happens if you lose it on a jump? Muff #5048
  16. Thats true. Its far easier to go to a bank and ask for a $6k personal loan (they dont need to know what its for) Muff #5048
  17. B&H Photo has some pretty good deals. This should get you started. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/shop/8454/Digital_Film_SLR_Interchangeable_Lenses_for_Canon.html Muff #5048
  18. You're all friggin lightweights, I'm gonna try and land a pilot chute in tow! You guys are both lightweights. I'm gonna land a model rocket parachute (about 1sqft). Lets see....that gives me a wingloading of 185:1. WHAT!! Muff #5048
  19. I'm not sure. The VX37 might be a little bit much just yet. As someone with 43 jumps I would reccomend you start a bit more conservatively say a Xaos 27 or something. Muff #5048
  20. I belive Wings rigs come with a military discount (if I'm not mistaken). They are both freefly friendly and super-comfy. As far as canopys go I would go with what Wendy said. BTW, If your ever in Utah (I know who would want to be right) we could jump sometime. Muff #5048
  21. Noted. I'll be sure to have Velo 103 shipped express mail so I can kill myself as soon as possible.JK of course. Muff #5048
  22. Looking at this from kind of a different angle here. Are we not talking about LICENSED skydivers here? I was under the distinct impression that once you hold a USPA "A" license then you could fly pretty much any canopy you like. Lets face it people we are all, "legally" at least, adults here. If someone gives you a "reccomendation" you have the "choice" to follow it or ignore it. People who make GOOD choices usually wind up living whereas those who dont usually end up hurting themselves. I, for one, CHOOSE to listen to AFFI's S&TA's etc for the simple purpose of I enjoy living. Just my 2cents. Muff #5048
  23. And I guess just because thats what he has listed as his gear then he MUST be jumping it. Muff #5048
  24. Technically you arent "cutting" anything. I would say seperate or even disassemble. cut /kʌt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[kuht] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation verb, cut, cut·ting, adjective, noun –verb (used with object) 1. to penetrate with or as if with a sharp-edged instrument or object: He cut his finger. 2. to divide with or as if with a sharp-edged instrument; sever; carve: to cut a rope. 3. to detach with or as if with a sharp-edged instrument; separate from the main body; lop off: to cut a slice from a loaf of bread. I guess you would then have to call it a "Riser Disassembly Activation Handle". Muff #5048
