Your correct. Their a special bread of military jumper. AFAIK only jump in Small groups etc etc and the seal may even jump rounds depending on the mission. Even saw a smole jumper in alaska on the telly the other day on "Flying wild in alaska" jumping sqs. The paratroopers on a mass jump, IMO They need to jump rounds to prevnt them from runing into ea other. Farmer wals out . seeone landing in his crops and say wuffo? or wuffa?. When we got back into the sport after a 10 + year layoff A old friend told me a joke. 25 years ago. "Who says skydivers are stupid We invented a whole new way to kill ourselves " Now everyone has buzz box's, aad's, alti's opens at 4500' and who knows what else. becuase their afraid their going to bounce. Now 75 % of all fatilities are because people that can't land a perfectly good canopy.The incident reports are public info. What they don't show except in isolated cases are the life changing injuries from people that "survive" the landings more or less. There's a man right now thats been in ICU for 48 days. Due to his inability to land a perfetly good canopy. Since he didn't die that info isnt even included in the stats afaik. If you have any questions use skymama to watch your back front and sides.She'll be able to steer you in the right direction. At the DZ you'll have more helpers, listeners etc than you can handle. Do your own research. It's a great way to learn. I'd suggest starting with camera flying, looking into wing suiting, moving on the high-performance landings and really getting deep into emergency procedures. You may discover extensive problems caused by not knowing and/or ignoring that information in the SIM. You could short-cut a little by researching DZ.com threads. Incident forum would get you started. I've done the research, and there is not one verifiable incident that justifies an arbitrary banning of small format cameras by jumpers with less than a C-license. By comparison, a B-License holder can be trained to be a coach to another jumper but is regarded as unqualified to jump with a camera. The recommendation wasn't written with small format cameras used by jumpers for their personal POV recordings of their own jumps in mind; it was written with professional camera flyers using larger, heavier equipment in mind in which the main purpose of the jump would be to photograph or record other jumpers. The requirement of a C-License to add a camera to a jump the jumper would be doing anyway is extreme, which is best evidenced by the fact that everybody misquotes the recommendation as merely 200 jumps because that sounds more reasonable. These are the facts: -- There is no BSR or FAA regulation that requires a C-License or 200 jumps to jump with a camera. -- There has not been one fatality by a skydiver using a small format camera that was caused by the camera. It's not accidents, fatalities, or injuries that's fueling this debate - it's "oh, the horror" someone posted a video on their Facebook page! How long you been jumping? Where you getting your info from that only one umper went in caused by a small format camera. The umper with the cameera decides when to open not the camera. My 150 ' opening was partially cuaused by a hand held camera everyone likes to geek the camera. What would have happened to the dude at the ranch that landed on the roof if he didn't have a aad. Some of little people could stand up in a twin beech Worst case bend your head to one side. Flyong a 3 out of LP with a field elev of 3500' on a hot day IMO was not fun. One guy passed out on the climb to altiitude due to hypoxia. I used to hate standing up on T,O, betwwen the pilots on the fly deck to help with the C.G.. I still remember standing up Looking at at the with noting infront of us but the windshield telling my self I hate this shit. After the incident at perris the FAA had a seious talk with USPA all of a sudden the C.G. was no longer a issue and everone was sitting down with a seat belt. Just like the skychickies that post on DZ.com with their female gender screen names FWIW we belonged to USPA 30+ yr's used to get the USPA /pca sticker every yea. Some folks posted them on their cars. Some of us didn't. When we passed one of those USPA stickered cars on the road we'd give them "the look" to see if it was anyone we knew. Never saw anyone we knew Never saw a reason to strut our stuff. Different strokes for different folks.
