Hi Steve, Have you considered putting on a carvig course at your local DZ for the folks that may be are interested in learning to carvwe from a pro. The course would have to be Weather dependent etc. It could lead to a whole new generation of jumping carvers, And a nice income stream to cover your expenses. There are course's popping up for everything else at the DZ why not carving. R.

It's all free ahead of the medical bills! Make sure he understands the potential consequences for him as they've been stated here. Yes, it's his responsibility to look into it, but you now have information that may change his mind. The fact that you don't want him to change his mind is no excuse, in my opinion, for leaving him ignorant. Sounds like you're going to go ahead with this no matter what people say here, so I can only hope you'll do your research and plan. Impulsiveness and aerial sports are not a good mix. Hi Mike You mean like Gravity sucks, and the planet doesn't care who you are. If he's lucky/unluckyhe won't end up a quad, para or TBI. I really don't care what the dude wants to do.Or says what he did. One yes, one no, I'm gone

Leading cause of death in skydiving
Krip replied to decompresion's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Damn you I've researched stuff on wiki (non jump releated) and now I find out some of the info isn't precise. We're doomed we're doomed i tell you Utter bullshit. The real reason is violent video games and moose hunting. One Jump Wonder -

Hi Format Very interesting. When he was sstanding on top of the chair by the rail I was telling myself I hope there's water below. But then I've been to the Eiffel tower there's no water there. Well maybe there was in 1912, but the dude died in 1912 In a very sad way Franz did use a dummy for the jump. Format thanks for that page in history, 100 yr's ago today. One Jump Wonder

Hi Part of your fall rate is also determind by your position of your upper body. If your catching(cupping) air with your upper body your going to fall slower. With the same jumpsuit and your throw your chest out and shoulders back you'll be more streamlined and fall faster. Weight belts drink plenty of water befor you go up on the load you'll be amazed how fast you can fall to keep from peeing in your jumpsuit. One Jump Wonder

UPT Delivery Time; Anyone want to give up their slot?
Krip replied to propilot's topic in Gear and Rigging
Hi u all Think about it. Would you rather have Mr Booth use experienced people on the production line and give them a reason to stay around, like steady employement. Or would you like Mr Booth to ramp up production to meet the demand by going to Labor ready and hire anyone that "says" they know how to sew a straight line. Mr booth has been in business along with other quality gear manufactors long time. He wouldn't still be in business if he didn't know how to market his product. Bill came up with the latest and greatest invention since sliced bread the skyhook. So the demand for vectors has increased even more than before. 75% of all jumping fatalities occur after the jumper has a perfectly good canopy over their head. The skyhook can't save them. Now there's AAD,s. higher opening altitudes, "gentle opening mains" aka Snivel . Or Micro canopies that when they open with line twists the jumper has to eject aka cutaway before they pass out from the G forces. I'm not jumping anymore so I suggest that everyone take a deep breath and think about where the Industry of jumping is going and whats the value of all the latest bells and whistles, when your jumping gear that due to the latest fads is the problem. Riser covers have been a problem for a very long time velcro tuck tabs, magnets , afaik they all have issues. If a skyhook is what people want, and they know the wait time is going to be longer than Ideal. They can't have it both ways. Unless they start a bidding war in on gently used vectors, never packed outside etc etc, If I was jumping and owned a vector with a skyhook if the "price was right" especially during the off season I'd sell it in a heart beat. Want a vector with the hookeer option? Run a ad offering 20%, 30%, 40% over the sticker price and see what happens R -
Hi Mr Wart My memory is fadeing along with my spelling. But the way I remember it all the Big people would have a "distinct" landing on anything round that didn't land in the peas. Big People had to be hard core or else they didn't stay around very long To bad these days anyone can have major issues flying or landing a properly sized canopy if they try hard enough.. R.

Hi Lurch You story about the McNasty horse lady reminds me jumping at Molla. Mcnasty owned the property on one side on the DZ. There wa rumored incident of a family picnic and some kind of a skydiving incident that ruined the farmers picnic and the jumper day. We were told under no uncertain terms do not land over there the DZO had to pay a fee for every landing on Mcnasty's property. No problem we were warned don't go there

Hi lodestar I can relte to tour foggy mind, at my age, I have more brain farts/ day that I can shake a stick at and those are the only ones I;m aware off. Was the oustanding video dude Pink floyd a nickmane related to his consist ability to discharge a unforgetable stinky pink cloud thought the whole casa? We stopped by the tunnel in Tukwilla.wa on the way home yesterday, becasuse my boss wanted to stop by a woodworking store next door, So we visited the new tunnel. it was late in the day, and there were actually some jumpers waiting in the lobby to use the tunnel. I introuduced my self with out my name but when compared DZ's and boggies they finaly figured out I was't a poser.. When thet asked my name. I gave them my DZ/govt DZ name and It was instant recall. We all stated lauging. Thats a Kick ass DZ name that even though folks can't place the face they can still remember the DZ name,. I didn't bother asking their names since I wouldn't remember them anyway. and would probably never see them again

Hi Were were on the ground when the 15 cessna formation flew over head in a tight V formation sounded like hornets nest. It was snohomish. Just getting 15 cessna's to show up at one timein working order was a feat by itself. Yes there were some other coordination problems with the exit from 15 planes but Ruckett had a plane, some jumper were a little to eager to exit. ETC. May have a pic of the little dots flying in a tight V from the ground somewhere. The audio would be better. Only second time I've seen the patch wasn't on the load. I think John Mitchel was includeing 59 others. Plus the bench. Didn't stay around long enough to see if they ever made the 55 way from the cessnas. Saw a few attempts and the video used for the debrief. R.

Hi wdy I've havd extended breaks over the yr's 1975 was the secondone. Those square parachutes put the fear in me, plus the cost of new gear. It was time for me to hang it up to. We've started and stopped a few time since then, but imo 68-74 were some of the good times a combination of the right DZ's and the right people with the right vibe's . Kind of like a teenager's first love in high school. Or so I've heard I went to a high school with 6000 guy's. Even now whenever I go outside I look at the sky, check the clouds, broken, or scattered how fast their moving and check the tree for the ground winds. Your ten years ahead of me, so it's nice to know that feeling will still be there unless I stop inhaling and exhaling or forget my name. DZ name. Nice meeting you. Will see you on the other side.

Hi Skydivejack I'm sure you remember "Snake" from Missouri. He told me about meeting some women that ran up to him with tears in their eyes and hanging all over him. They heard a typical DZ rumor that he was dead. Told snake he missed his chance he could have told them he did die just came back from heaven as a angel. Ever sleep with a angel Perish valley As many loads as they fly, and jumpers they put out. One of the major DZ's always seems to be on the hot seat. The airplane thing these days don't even count. On the other hand I've heard of the Perrisite's . The airtrash group sounds lika a lot of fun. Anyone know their nick names besides Elmo?

Hi Don That's advertising for you I'm not a OE but this is the way i think it was done. At the beginning of the video when I saw the church I thought this was going to be interesting..Not the church Then they erected the special designed tower for the machine to climb in front of the church The attachment on the end of the arm of the machine was designed to fit into the slots of each section of the tower for a male, female fit with the top of the plate at the end of the arm, there was also some holes in the sections of the tower lined up the marks plate/arm. Maybe a safety back up. The Tower was also designed to accommodate the tracks of the machine Another male female fit?. in preparation for moving to the next section before the arm lets go to move to the next section. The pyrotechnics and twirling the machine is what it is. IMO a well designed and practiced stunt for the mass's. If You ever get a chance check out swamp loggers. Their harvesting logs in the middle of a swamp sometimes they hit a soft spot sink up to bottom of the engine and usually are able to pull /push themselves out with the arm. In the swamp Time is money and production is the name of the game. How many tandems do we have today Like someone said the power of hydraulics.
