H Jack Most of us like the few bears we have left..So what if we forget to bring in a bird feeder or two before dark. The bears were here first. To bad if the new folks want to see the bears gone because they have kids. I usally carry some pepper spray all the time because of my bully neighbor. DA is twice my size and put his hands around my neck. At that time the PS was 10 years old but the bully was only half a arms length away. It worked like a champ two short squirts and he hit the ground like a unhappy rock. But it only has a 15' range when new so we bought a new can even hotter. Just in case there's a next time which I doubt.. We also recently upsized & got a can of bear spray with a 30' range. comes with a holster. I feel better with a 30' range for humans. About a yr ago a mile down the road a lady was walking a little fur ball dog off leash on a trail in their sub division. Poor little puppy got scared, ran back to her owner followed by the bear. The dog was safe the owner got cut up & spent a week in the hospital. People were . #1 Dog should have been on a leash (law). The bear should be trapped and killed. The injured lady told the F&G to leave the bear alone. It was her fault not the bears. F&G brought out their donutes and bear trap. After 3 days they gave up. Took their donuts and trap and went home. I've got 2 labs as house dogs they are real good at letting us know when the bears, rabbits, dear, and neighbors around theperimeter of my property. Even when the dogs are in the house. If the dogs are outside and alert us we just bring them inside .So they will stop barking and not get hurt. We live on the olympic pennisula in the PNW so there is plenty of room to move a bear to . But they belong here where they were born and what about the cubs.? We don't feed the bears just catch a glimps once or twice a year. IMO a real treat

Hi Folks Winters coming so the boss and I have been scrounging for firewood wood,& for turning on a lathe. We prefer to let someone else cut the tree's down, and then get their permission to cut the timber in place in a manageable size and hump it out. We enjoy our privacy by not livng in a subdivison, lots more wildlife. When we first moved here mama bear was stealing our bird feeders so we just started to bring them in at night. Our neighbor that lives behind us wants to switch from cable service to a Dish and started droping some tree's behind us about 50 Ft on his side of the property line We asked if we could help clearing out some of the downed timber.] So far we were able to salvage some nice maple and holly. But also noticed that something has been doing some major damage to the suger maple and cedar tree's. The damage we saw was very uniform starting 2' above the ground extending to about 5'. We think it's mama bear sitting on her butt clawing on the bark to get to the sweet maple sap. Don't have a clue about the cedar except maybe for bark or bugs? Anyone know anything about bear feeding habits (besides bird feed or anything that bothers her cubs). We're going to have to wait until we get a bigger chainsaw before we go back for the 24" dia stuff. To bad our neighbor doesn't know how to drop a tree. His method is just one cut straight across the trunk so it falls wherever it want to. I'm guessing in the middle of the winter when mama bear is sleeping might be the best time to go for the big stuff. Hopefully the neighbor will leave mama bears food supply standing. After this go around I'm hoping we'll have enough cords of firewood stockpiled for about 4-5 yr's. BTW we don't carry. Don't really have anything big enough to stop mama bear. But we still have the hounds, when we let them out of the house in the morning they patrol the perimeter and clear the property R.

Hi John Does ea kid know which one is theirs. My Boss only lets me carry $2. But I always let her pay for everything via CC and tip in cash. We were eating lunch at china first in the U district at least once a month for 10 yr's. always had the same waiter and he finally couldn't resist and asked why she always pays? [ I have people and I'm worth it. R. One Jump Wonder

The only reason I stop by the DB thread once in a while is to watch the grown up kids insult ea other. Makes a person wonder about what people are really like I agree with Matt insulting someones mom is way over the top But thats just me. R

Good reasons, both you and Aphid. But for day to day Americans it's not usually necessary. Some people just seem bank-phobic or resistant, and I see that as poor judgement. I've been the foreigner taking a week's worth of euros/pesos/lira/francs from the ATM at once to save a bunch of fees. Different strokes for different folks Poor judgement is a your opinion Back in the day we lived from paycheck to paycheck and credit cards or ATM didn't exist. Now everything is CC and we just pay the balance at the end of the month but sometimes dpending on the situation cash is king I don't remember about foriegn currency but US money is nasty, I've talked with bank tellers and they try and wash their hands every 15 minutes and never lick their thumb to get a better grip on the money when counting it out. I have a local bank that prides themselves itself by providing customer servise. We just call the vault teller and request brand new money fom the federal reserve, sequentily mumbered in bricks of 100 ea. It's even come in handy a couple of times, Retail cashier gives us change for a $10 bill and they have already put the money in the cash register. We were able to convinced the cashier we had given them the brand new $20 in their register and could even tell them the serial number since we had it's brother in our wallet. Another time we were competing at the bang bang range the fee was $5/person they operated on the honor system and everyone just put thier entry fee in a envelope. My Boss and I were competing and the VP of the range counted the shooters and they were $10 short The VP appoached us first and asked us if we paid loud enough for everyone to hear. Told the dude to look in the envelope and the 5 brand new $2 bills were ours. If he wanted us to tell him the serial numbers we could do that also The dude looked in the envelope and walked away with his tail between his legs[ Anyway Johnboy do you still have your brand new $2's in your safe we gave you for your b-day.10 yr's ago R.

They also came on Security's ThunderBow rig. I only listed the CrossBow because that was the original rig to have them. Do I have to list each and every rig in the future? Me thinks that some days it is just better to stay in bed. /reply] Hi Jerry This is called the "Skydiving history and trivia forum" for a reason The subject is one shots, and your not going to live/remember for ever so SIUCC R.

Not saying this is the case here but quite often, the boss and the manifest person are...well, let's say, an item. There are many DZs where that IS the case. When the boss and the manifest girl are hooked up, guess who suffers? Everyone else...ask me. I know. Yep. There's a DZ I know of where the wife of the DZO is the manifest/receptionist/phone person. And she is known as... not the nicest person. She has driven business away. As in people would drive a fair distance extra to a different DZ because they had a ball jumping and wanted to do it again... Somewhere else. Away from her. I don't wish to call anyone out, and if there are any "Are you talking about 'xxx' or DZ 'yyy'" I won't confirm or deny. But it's pretty widely known that this woman isn't the nicest person in the sport. All true The bad news is that these people that feel entitled are everywhere. Not just the DZ If it acts like a loser, talks like a loser, they are loserand aren't going to change The good news is that as consumers, and the law of supply and demand we don't have to accept 2nd class treatment. For our $$$ I wouldn't recommend signing up for a package deal like AFF thru A liscense for the same reason, you'll lose out on some of your options for chump change. R
