  1. Ha. Ha. HAAA. May be in Sequim, Washington for a day...but open to suggestions afterwards. Maybe do some skydiving while I am there?
  2. Thank you, Chad. That's the best move you could have made. I appreciate your candor and I'm sure everyone else does too. We are all about helping people progress, and sometimes that includes the need to say some things that people don't want to hear. Learn, take logical steps, and most importantly build a solid skill set for high performance canopy flight and you will be surprised how quickly you can be safe under a cross-braced canopy. Thanks for butching up. Thank you both for doing the right thing Waiting on USPA/FAA/DZO's after 25 yr's isn't the answer. Attaboy to both chuck & chad
  3. Everyone has a opinion De[ending on how long your going to be at the DZ/ Maybe try shuting everything off except the AC and see if it works. If no workee ther AC might need some gas or a new compressor. If the AC works Then go to library and get a electrical DIY book and read the instructions about adding new circuit for the AC: UG/10 ga wire in plastic conduit, etc. Work up a shoping list and price it at Lowes or home depot. If you like the price, install it in the evening when it's cool and the DZO can't see you installing it.. One Jump Wonder

Mr Spoon is a standup Guy This time your got lucky with your troll and Mr Spoon took the bait, There's lots of isssues that have occured at DZ's in the past that most people of honor don't talk about . Your trolling in this thread exposes you for what you are. One Jump Wonder

  7. In 1947 my folks bought their first house in Portland. My mother still has the same phone number. It started as TW 9658 ( TW = TWin Oaks ), it then went to BU-9 9658 ( BU = BUtler), and today it is 289-9658. Anybody beat that? JerryBaumchen Yup, Our first number back on my Grandmothers farm was two longs and a short. My Boss's grandma's signal was two shorts and a long. All calls went thru the operator and she knew everyone by name and signal. We have a stromberg -carlson candle stick phone on our end table that was converted into a table lamp. Pick up the ear piece and the light mounted on top of the candlestick comes on.
  8. I would think that being buried underground for 67 years, the crates have rotted away, and whatever remains is going to be one big rusty lump. That environment isn't exactly known for being low humidity. Hi JR I think John Mitchell or Amazon knows about a guy who was bringing back some pliatous porters from SEAs into the the US in pieces maybe as late as approx 10 yr's ago. Think Air america:Porters from 1960-70's rotting in a hot humid jungle maybe crashed in various air area around SEA or stored someplace. A Pilot with the right connections, wrench's, duct tape, etc. I know nothing One Jump Wonder
  9. WOW! Even in the Golden West? It was a nuisance during GDR times I was told. Well, I didn't qualify for a phone during GDR times (you had to apply for it...) but got one in 1990 - when we also belonged to the Golden West - but had to share it with someone who lived next door. They didn't phone much, their daughter wasn't in that age, so we rarely got the "engaged" signal. But I was quite relieved when we got our own line in ... hmm... 1995 or so? So that doesn't make me an old fart coz my son and my daughter can 'member this problem, too. P.S.: You're a really oooold fart when you 'member the times when girls in Utah married Young. (Not a political statement ) ...and he is quoted as saying; "I don't care how you bring 'em... just bring'em young!" Chuck If your a old fart they are all young One Jump Wonder

  18. Hi Mr T I had a simalar experience with John Lebanc from PD a long time ago. I was jumpimg a sabre (one) 170 and I asked him about possibly down sizeing to a 150. John's response was why? Of Course he was right on. Why? Becuse I'm a short person and wanted a smaller canopy to fit into smaller container. All I needed to do was Lose the pounds to maintain the same w/L. The sales rep that made the remark about down sizeing in the future is part of the the current fad and wants to continue to sell new gear (smaller)to the same people. R
  19. H Mr Spoon Sorry to hear and watch the "Good old boys" on another airport board trying to shut down another DZ. IMO the board is trying the same tactics that a lot of other boards have used in the past. Safety. Insurance premiums etc. The lack of space for the DZ at the at the airport was a new one for me, due to the hundreds of acres avalaible on the airport. The board is really grasping at straws with that one. I'm sure there wll be plenty of meetings, discussions etc but I think the FAA will finally rule n the DZ's favor.

  23. Hi Bill Beware of industry standards: AFAIK the iAAD industry standaed was started by Jamie Woodward at Snohmish Wa. He was tired of listening to whining jumpers because he wanted to run a tandem mill. The Tom Piris incident kicked the "standard" into high gear. Due to a good marketing and poor judgement. From what I'm reading the industry standard for opening altitude is increasing to the point where it's going to start to interfer with the opening altitude of tandems. Higher is safer The use of the of the black box industry std that only prevents 20-25% of the industry's fatal incidents is what it is, and could result in unforseen consequences.
