The scary part is those bad kids have parents that should know better. WTF their parents don't even care. Their empowering this kind of behavior. Cell phone? Nope. Computer? Nope. Car? Nope. Gounded you bet for ever FWIW I never had any kids, and still watch Leave it to Beaver. anything even close to parents like Jume and Ward, would be nice. Just not realistic. For most folks. Very Sad. Re: Felix- Chuck Yeager once again shows off his arrogance
Krip replied to SkydiveJack's topic in The Bonfire
I have read the entirety of this thread & I am with you on this one. Yeager, Col Joe, Felix all did something no one else did before. They each accomplished in their own way. Red Bull paid for Felix's efforts; our tax dollars paid for Yeager & Col Joe's. All while they collected their salaries. JerryBaumchen Hi Jerry From what I've read Col Joe also collected his salary while ataying in the Hilton (Hanoi that is) and rode to altitude in a open basket. Brrrr on his 32 jump. No AFF, no tunnel just a G.I. doing his duty.I'm guessing Col Joe did spend some time in a altitude chanber , cold box etc, Thisisn't intended to take anything away from Felix and the Rred Bull teams record, just a different time and different technology. QuoteThat is heartbreaking. I've got 3 daughters, all of whom we've tried to raise to be strong, and I think we've done okay. I think ours know we would support them and love them even thru something like that. I wish Amanda would have realized how much people loved her and how unimportant a photo or two was. /reply] Hi Folks There's one person on DZ.com that has made a career of making fun of women that he finds less than perfect in his opinion. We all know who #2 aka "King of Kings" is, he's been doing his thing on this websight for years and will continue to do so Will the dz.com comunitity do anything to stop it? Hell no, he's good for DZ.com business, his 7k posts in 3 yrs generated a bunch of websight traffic, I'm guessing he's in second place behind the DB cooper thread. Want to draw a line in the sand for this dude or MEH Time will tell. R.

reply] Hi Speedy I wasn't the LO and he made the decision not to ask for a go around. We took what we got. I'm sure you know when your doing RW not everyone gets to check the spot before they exit. Cliff notes: formation load experienced lady jumper is last out of lead plane gets hit by the prop of the trail plane. DZO tries to blame the lady for not taking the time to make sure the trail plane wasn't out of position. Chow. R.

Hi R I know you all got some extreme temps up there and a long season. But why so much heart burn over something that going to be removed by by solar energy. If the HOA kept the situation on the down low then they wouldn't have had all the xtra traffic to worry about. R. One Jump Wonder

\ ................................................................................................ We were young and tough, back in the 70's. We'd jump all winter. I don't remember anybody getting frost bit, but I'll bet that happened. I remember a couple jumps when it was almost down to zero, Fahrenheit. That added up to quite a chill factor. My gosh, you guys have some scary stories. Maybe a true death rig is one that someone went in on. Jumping a rig like that, would be "hard core" to say the least. I'll bet a rig like that would sell cheap!.... Hi Steve But but I thought jumping was a seasonal sport. Have a friend who used to jump in ND at a small club. Year round. Met him and his buddy in Fl many yr's later and they were about the club mtg that almost ended up . Some members wanted a pea gravel pit and some others wanted a inflight door. Accuracy was still king in the mid 60's. The might sell cheap to the first person that bought it. After it changed hands a couple of times or was parted out. It wasn't as inexpensive as it started & It wasn't a death rig anymore. Not my style, but we heard rumors. Got a nice used Bunny helmet for free that had a $.50 size spot of red on the inside. Who knows they could have cut themselves shaving. R.

That's awful! Unless, of course, the president of the HOA complained about his phone being on vibrate and the tv being too loud at 10:30 am. If so, then I totally get it. Hi Val The shooter was actually a DR from the middle east and the failure to communicate was over a non conforming fence, and the Dr aso constucted a driveway before asking the HOA's permission. Either way not worth dieing for, and the shooter doing some prison time. Lose lose http://www.lvrj.com/news/one-killed-one-wounded-at-kentucky-hoa-meeting-168970536.html Google can be your friend R. Close, whenever the J.W.s ring (which is not very often, because we live out in the middle of nowhere) I put a towel around my hair and a bathrobe on with nothing underneath. It usually cuts the conversation very short. Hi nice lady The only people that come to our house are the Fire dept (ambulance) for a medical emergency, we're done calling the po po. R. I love living in a country with freedom of religion, speech, etc. It's huge. But if the front door says "No Soliciting" or "Day Sleeper", don't come knocking. And don't get offended if no one wants to buy what you're selling. Hi J Never could understand why when posted the see he sign at eye level and ring/knock anyway. When we lived in the city with 3 dogs jumping on the door trying to get at the door knocker for some reason knockers never wanted to come inside. Since we moved to the country One Jump Wonder

Why are incidents in USA not reported to USPA?
Krip replied to GLIDEANGLE's topic in Safety and Training
Hi SM Thats part of the problem with USPA and their GM program. USPA wasn't always like this. If the DZ wants to get paid extra for filling out the paperwork then they souldn't be a USPAGM. I'm sure your aware that some S&TA are either DZO's or their employee's But USPA was taken over by the DZO's a long time ago, they stole the brand, and use it as part of their marketing program. That horse left the barn a long time ago. Bring on the tandems and AFF, become a liscensed jumper, rent our gear etc. You think you understand but you really don't. But this is the internet and your entitled to your opinion, Just like I'm entitled to mine. BTW before you send me a PM or want to argue I joined USPA in 1968. That is all R. -
I haven't tried jumping without my glasses, but I can tell you that the wind sock is just a blob when looking at it through my bifocals anywhere from 1000 to 4000 feet away. It gets really exciting to land downwind with even a little wind! Try landing off the DZ trying to guess where the pwr lines are, Fences line's etc. They don't always follow the roads.
