  1. Hi 65 You know this thread is 10 yr's old. Don't have a clue what the current policy is, YMMV depending on the DZ. You know how much a new main canopy costs? R.
  2. Hi Nikita Your right. Someone wrote a book Your money or your life you might be able to find it on amazon or the library. Check it out. As long as your not homeless and dumpster diving for food your doing ok imo. I pulled the plug from a toxic job when I was 48yo that was 17 yr's ago.
  3. Hi Mr T When you were talking with the guy you pass There were a few claims on that list for tail stikes that IMO were for chump change we learned a long time ago not to turn every little car into the insurance company. Because if they pay, your rates will go up. A $500,000 claim is a lot of money, but a $6k is one days tandems at some DZ's. Interesting in hind sight that the DZ at Harvey Field (snohomish) said no more WS's before the letter became public knowledge. TBSS If the industry of "skydiving" wants to be self regulated than even with thier waiver they need to clean up their act, or the insurance company will regulate them out of existance. Except Tandems. R. One Jump Wonder
  4. Well, that's a sexist comment, if I ever heard one. What if she likes it on top? Who's the bicycle, now? Hello Nice lady Sexist comment? I overheard the bicyle comment at a DZ, it was a conversation between two women jumpers talking about a third women jumper that ws very populer. Most dudes don't care who's on top or bottom as long as they get some. Some of these dudes still get exited seeing boobies. R.

    Facebook fishing?

Hi I've gotten a couple of email's from face book that look like they have gotten hold of USPA's data base and their wanting to know if i want to be friends with some jumpers and parts of the jumping industry. Anyone else getting this crap or know if USPA is selling their membership list. I'm no longer a USPA member but USPA does have my liscense# full name and maybe email address. I know the info isn't coming from Dizzy.com because my profile doesn't even have my name. Is facebook beating the bush's to inflate their membership numbers so they can try and BS their advertisers and stock holders. R.
  6. I agree with moms, sort of. Boob's are a big deal in parts of the US. In Europe and some other countries overseas there no big deal. But The kicker is thats the way william lost his mom trying to escape the Paparazzi that ended very badly. Now the bottom feeders are at it again in a private location. I don't think the problems is seeing kates breasts, it's the lack of privacy andbeing pursued by the paparazzi with unforseen consequences. We'll have to wait and see if the courts can do anything to stop it. Don't have a clue if anyone will win, except the lawyers. Might make the money earned by selling/buying the pics a losing proposition BTW moms common decency and respect for other human beings That went out the window a long time ago, for some people. R. R.
  7. Hi Triple3+1 $50 a plate Does that include the food? Thats $120 a couple for the meal if you only drink water. I'm sure all the people with the right stuff will be attending and have a great time showing off their fancy cars , rolex's and young wives or boy friends. I'd prefer to hang with the Rif Raf at a dive, we're a lot more fun.. FWIW I never jumped at pelicanland. If you get a chance post some pics of the turn out. R.
  8. When you land off the DZ All those rules go out the window. There is no minimum. Ever try and land acanopy in someones backyard, a two lane road, Get ready because it can happen to anyone. The only DZ I've been to that actually gives a go around on occasion was at Z-hills. The spot wouln't have been bad except for the 2 way head downers spotting (first out) and taking way to long to exit. R.
  9. Hi Zoso Stolen? I doubt it . I'M guessing no one will bid on it. IMO its not even worth the $50 for shipping. Someone could have bought a storage locker full of antiques or found it dumpster diving. Thats Ebay for you R.
  10. Hi Mr T Be Nice Paroled or just a few divorces? I know one jumper that was married 3 times in less than 10 yr's. I had one that got away but the next one was so much better 40 yr's later we still in love. The one that got away no way would we have lasted this long. Lucked out Something is wrong when a single female jumper can't find a winner on a DZ. Even without being a bicycle. R.
  11. Different country and different standards? Or just a very conservative rigger and a very good business person. It would be interesting to hear what some of the other Isreali riggers have to say about this. FWIW I'm not a rigger
  12. Hi Jacket Thanks for the clarification. I'm sorry if I came down a little heavy on you. This is the net and who knows who's reading and what they take away from a joke, I heard a rumor ,if true the dude sold his rocket ship because the cheap ass wanted a smaller canopy, the guy who bought it wasn't ready and got hurt very bad.. But thats just a rumor and don't mean nothing R.
  13. Hi Flyboy I'm a vet from back in the day welcome back. If you are eligiable for the G.I. bill. Consider going to a CC to get caught up then go to college and jump on weekends. A DZ job isn't as as it looks. A lot of the worker bee's at the DZ don't have health insurance unless their wife gets insurance thru her job. Do you want to take a chance relying on the VA? There's also lots of politica's at a DZ. You might find yourself at the bottom of the food chain. I doubt they would care about your service record. Of course give the DZ a try if you want to but don't wait to long to use your G.I. Bill you earned it. With the right degree it's the gift that keeps on giving. Have a Happy
  14. 1- Vertical separation doesn't count when they're under canopy and you're still in freefall. 2- Did the two of you "trade places" in the line of flight, in other words, did you cross over the top of the tandem pair at some time? 3- You're not the first noob to slide up and down the jumprun line trying to sit and head down. Vskydiver almost hit the open canopy of such a knoob after videoing on of my tandems. So keep yourself perpendicular to the jumprun line while you flail around. If you can't do that, then stay on your belly. Make your tracks off the jumprun line. A couple of weeks ago #2 posted he was doing solo's following the tandems and was opening at 5k if I remember correctly. (50-50 chance) Now he's jumping out of cessna's and saying he did this and that I'm not sure he knows what happened or how long it took him to wait "10 seconds". The dudes only makeing 30 jumps/yr. Whats going on here? no one wants to jump with #2 or he's to busy to get some tunnel time, hire a coach. S he goes to a different DZ where no one knows him. I wonder if he even has a logbook so the new DZO knows whats going on with this dude. DZO asks How many jumps you got? #2 responds 84 jumps and leaves out ......in 3 yr's. R.
  15. I ask because I like to sleep at night. Lisa, its easier not to care. Why? Because you don't care as long as you get your blood money and it would make you feel better if everone else felt the same way. When you or yours get busted up and you ask why, thats karma R.
  16. H Pops Don't sweat the small stuff.
  17. Iid it once after I had 1k jumps & no AFF. Frind needed to carry some weight to get his tandom rateing. If you plan it correctly it can be fun. We took a handhele auto rewind camera with us took pictures of both of use in FF and our friend that was doing the video free also The trapdoor effect effect was.....interesting for a tandem rookie. Nice standup close to the peas. I knew the people we were jumping with I can assure you I wouldn't do it with just anyone. FWIW I'm a dude. R. One Jump Wonder
  18. Hi Ever see a blind jumper, all thier jumps are night jumps Some use a radio and jump with friend that can tell them when to chop the main. But we all know that sometimes the radio's don't work. Was at a boogie and watched blind John chop his main at LP without waiting for a radio call. Peeps asked him why he chopped it? "because it didn't sound and feel right when it opened" A full moon could also help if your concerned about checking your canopy and even make it easier to find if you have to chop it. In the "dark". R.
  19. Poor planning on your part does not make a crisis for the rigger. Why wait until the last second so everything is a rush. Plan ahead and get your gear worked on during the Off season. When the rigger has more time. Ever go to a boogie with a out of date reserve and go begging a rigger to pack your reserve NOW so you can make the next load R

    Memories

It is a beautiful place, but i could never live there, the cold wet and snow would drive me nuts
  21. Take a look at the canopy after you land (unless it's unpacked) If you had a bad landing look feel the canopy material. If it feels like tissue paper It's ragged out & is past it's useful life. R
  22. I agree with you. For all I know they might want to kite your velo 79? Its up to them, their S&TA, rigger, and DZO to determine if its an appropriate canopy to jump at the dropzone. Until then you are selling a chunk of nylon and shouldnt short change yourself, especially when you have medical bills to pay!!!! BS. I don't think you would be protected by the waiver. If the jumper is busted bad enough your butt will get sued. Do you own a car, house, have a job? Even if you don't lose the lawsuit your still going to get stuck with a lawyer's bill,
  23. Hi NWF I agree except YMMV depending on the vibes of the DZ and the Gender of the jumper involved. R.

    Mama Bear

That was my first thought. Krip: are the marks vertical or horizontal? Bears mark more vertically, and deer tend to scrape side-to-side. Hi JT and nice lady The marks are verticle and we can see the maple sap oozing from the trees. I'm guessing the ceder tree has some bugs under the bark. Same makings. We had some deer here when we first moved in (apple tree's) as soon as the dogs saw the deer they took after them and our neighbor told us she never saw the deer run that fast or jump that high over the fence. Poor deer haven't been back in 14 yrs and the apple tree is gone. They weren't bucks just doe's. Last year we saw a dear in town feeding on the banks land scapeing
