Whoah!!The first time i've a pro-tec full face......... Any thoughts on the Bonehead 'boomerang'..I have one of these but i must admit i hav't jumped with it as i brought it as a solution to freezing conditions rather than what is obviously more important saftey in mind. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Strange but truei was grounded once for tinted gogglesI'd completed aff and was in reciept of a fresh 'A'licence. However i was still low experience and as mentioned earlier dark/tinted goggles can severly mess with your depth perception especially in low/fading light conditions. I'm lucky to still be here after said phenominen caught me out on a sunset load,me making a too low a turn and thankgod/budda etc i managed to get the canopy level otherwise i'd have impacted the planet with obvious consequences. Now with hindsight,i opt for clear goggles or simply remove my tints whilst under canopy in fading/low light conditions Edited to add:Anyone have any thoughts on yellow tints? To me these seem to make my surrounds 'LOOK' brighter/clearer but do they mess with depth perception any advantages/disadvanges to wearing goggles with yellow lenses vs clear lenses etc .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Certainly not my most interesting out landing! But whilst jumping in spain on the realisation o an imminent off landing i picked a large brown field i.e. no crops. However it had been ploughed and was more like landing into a field of boulders/rocks due to the sun baked earth. Not good, but managed to land[though almost a face plant]without incident Fav[most exciting] off landing was a the espace boogie this year 6k from the dz,followed the load organiser down and given the choice of woodland, large sloped fields[side of steep valley] he decided to land in a paddock[small field]on the ridge of the valley pursued by yours truly. Both swooped in to land.[i'm shitting it!there are no outs,we've got forest to my right ,power lines to my left, farm buildings ahead basically every concievable hazzard] the organiser turns to me and says'i lovvvvve radical landings' me now observing a low cheese cutter wire fence 20ft infront of me[could even see the fence in the air]says cheers for that!! Theres a moral here somewhere..don't follow organisers, they maybe more experienced[my thinking at the time]but they may also be insanean accuracy foil may have helped here also!!!!!! .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Not wise!!!!!!!foolish!!!!!!!!!foolhardy and that goes for anyone selling the equipment to him as well Benefit of doubt!!!!might/unlikely be thinking of shelvingthe stilletto until suitably experience/skilled I doubt it though spend the money on jumps .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Personally, the cf2's what i eventually opted for a year ago when i was in the same position as yourself. The thing does fly like it's on rails as already mentioned, and i find it's ability to be kept in a dive coupled with a long recovery arc [for me] more'swoop' friendly. However i also demoed a stilletto which is an equally as fun to fly as a cf2 and would've opted for one if it wasn't for my swoop ambitions.. I'm not suggestting the cf2 and stilletto fly alike they don't,but they are both imo quality canopies and if i wasn't into swooping[i find the cf2 more swoop friendly over the stilletto] and in the interest of saving some jump cash[the stilletto's cheaper] i'd have gone with a stilletto. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Yeah! But in all fareness, any radical turn,be it a 'panic initiated avoidence turn' or a mis-judged high performance landing its still a TOO lower a turn and this thread has gone along way to describe what i call urgent recovery, which is what you do given the presence of mind if you make such a TOO low turn. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Yeah,i must admit the John Ritter stuff confuses me also! But staying focussed is a good thing right .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

I think the guys talking about keeping your eye on the ball and on what's going on around you during your set up and approach,in fact staying aware and being considerate towards others at all times under canopy.. Just my 2pence .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

ZP exe 155 and swoop progression
trigger replied to WayneRATS's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
3.5 to 4 in that's a lot...I agree! I jump an Icarus and my brakes lines were set 2inches longer than factory settings which affected the bottom end flare[canopy continued to sink even at full extention]perfect now the're set exactly at factory settings.... I guess it's not a question of one length suits all .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER. -
Freefly suits arn't necessarily 'baggy'take the Matter pro concept for example. Heavier jumpers tend to wear baggier suits to slow their fall rates say to 150 average for head up.Also baggier suits,[so the theory goes] allow more power to be generated from the limbs.i.e.for generating forward movement. I personally wear a fitted suit i'm 220 OTD and have no trouble with maintaining level[matching fall rate]or efficient forward movement at the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference,me thinks. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Next Parachute after Sabre II 150?
trigger replied to jcoller's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Do you want to go fully elliptical.i.e longer dives, faster turns etc or do you want to go faster where a downsize same parachute say sabreII 135 may suffice or similar size Saffire,Pilot etc[downsizing increases turnrate,length/speed of dive also] If you want to learn to swoop or improve your techniques i'd advice you to stay with the same planform[at v least] Note:Always Demo+talk to your mentors about your choices .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER. -
I'm no canopy nazi and i think you'll going to love the saffire.....but to quote PD190/I haven't jumped for a year......mate first time under 149 saffire after a lay offi know it would not be the lay off that was scaring me .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
