YIPPEE .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

I think[guess] the picture was taken as he flew the canopy[end of swoop] to a standstill!
-
If you're serious about learning to swoop.I seriously suggest you obtain a more forgiving canopy than the nitro..and get specialist canopy coaching. Note it's not the canopy that makes a good 'swoop' it's the person flying it... If you're going to Sabastian fl,see if you can hook up with Chris Lynch for coaching and advise .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Newbie question :Jumping in europe
trigger replied to liquidfire's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
neither of us has ever gone skydiving and this trip will be a virginal experience.*** If that's the case then unless you intend trying a tandem skydive[cost's vary though not by much dz to dz]then you'll need to get trained 1000usd+ for a'A' license.. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER. -
Is having two audibles vs. just one REALLY necessary?
trigger replied to DJL's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Though i voted No to two audibles,i jump with two . Most if not all of the DZ's i jump at an audible is mandatory or a the v.least highly recommended if you intend freeflying. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER. -
Have checked the review of the"Faqtor"in gear section of this site. Reading between the lines i think the reviewer makes reference to PD's Sabre2 but my reasoning for this is simply the number of 'X's used as XXXXX2 could meen anything ATEOFD.ie.Safire2,Crossfire2... BTW[take this for all it's worth]I only know one person who has demoed a Faqtor. He was comparing it with the canopy he currently flies[same size 120 Stiletto] He's stuck with the Stilletto. Personally your best bet is simply to try and throughly demo both canopies and see what YOU think of them before you buy.. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Progressive carving turn, taking the canopy steeper from +/- 600' at sea level.

Downsizing keeps you Sharp!
trigger replied to NewClearSports's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
No disrespect...But well started riding bikes young but as i'll freely admit i have nowhere near your biking resume nor did i have your LUCK with regards to biking accidents[wrote off one GSXR750M head on with a car(don't worry i was fine bike trashed)..IOM TT 1992 I think...GSXR750WN (liked the oil cooled M model better. The power dilivery was alot rawer and a twitchy frame set fuck that bike kept you sharp)slid off at Ramsey hair pin (Diesel spill) anyway had a few get offs But IMO what the[Mind my french]F!*K has riding motorcycles got to do with skydiving and more specifically to your thread, canopy contol with regards to down sizing... You obviously came up in motorcycling with a good mentor to guide you and teach you how to control both the bike and it's power. But unless your totally blessed downsizing in the way that you suggest, for what so you can go faster on your straight in approaches to stay sharp. Nothing personal intended, but unless you can complete everything on Billvons list and in the highperformance class canopies IMO consistently cut grass with your toenails whilst carving, you probably have no buisness in downsizing or changing canopy planform.BTW I'm calling my present canopy my 1000 jump canopy only 800 to go Edited to add...[SHOULD POSTED THIS ON TALKBACK]But with motorcycles, did i upsize to quickly?,They certainly kept me sharp Volvo hiding behind every lamp post! .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER. -
One word...WICKED!!!! Unfortunately i can't afford to do both,Respect .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

How many jumps did you do on the 119? .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

7cell generally steeper glide than comparable nine cell.People generally''Rave''about the openings[spectre]..note 7cells are generally a better option in ''Tight''situations[take accuracy discipline for example... 9cell generally glides further than comparable 7cell.People sometimes but not always complain about the openings[sabre] 9cell elliptical generally turns faster and dives alot more and kills and maims more efficiently in the wrong hands than comparable 9cell square[sabre]People sometimes but not always complain of bad openings with cutaway inducing line twists[spinetto] Most wise to steer clear of eliptical designs like the stiletto at a novice/begginer level.Limit your choices to either a 7cell or 9cell square planform

Thanks for posting the pics, but the zipper deal looks like alot of hassle.Have you thought of the removable slider option if the slider concerns you that much.[Remove slider & D bag posted on this forum.''HELP''.

Galesheavy rainEngland certainly ain't no fun in the winter .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Agreed!!!Should've added that if air[wind] ceases to flow over the control surfaces of ANY wing, the wing ceases to fly but governed by the laws of gravity it will fall.
-
Here goes,RAM air parachutes require air to be'RAMMED'into them in order to stay pressurised/inflated. The air is'RAMMED'into the parachute initially in the'VERTICAL' on deployment. The parachute inflates to form a wing, the VERTICAL speed is deminished as you now have a wing over your head[a parachute is not a wing until it's inflated]but your horizontal speed has increased,as the parachute is now flying and remains inflated and flying due air being 'RAMMED'into it in the vertical and horizontal plane. [1] You are flying[hopefully not]towards a tree line[example] in 'NIL'winds at say 20mph groundspeed. You descend below the level of the tree line..because you were flying in nil winds your groundspeed will remain constant and the parachute will continue to fly until you hit the treeline. [2]Same scenario but this your flying upto the treeline into a 15mph headwind as soon as you drop below the level of the treeline which acts like a natural wind break the parachute suddenly encounters nil winds,it's now only flying at say 5mph and has just been robbed [by the treeline] of 15mph of headwind=15mph less pressurization. The vertical descent speed now increases in order for the parachute to regain pressurization and continue flying. It is the increase vertical speed which causes injury and that why it is advisable to avoid flying upto/near treelines or any other obstacle that can act as a wind break.....note even relatively small obstacles can cause wind irregularities such as turbulence in the form of vortexes etc .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Call me old fashioned but i think i'll stick with the velcro'flap' neck of jump suit slider retentionDo post pictures though! .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

From what you described about the wind conditions sounds like you may have encounterred severe turbulance low to the ground[just a guess]in which case IMO your best bet is to keep the canopy LEVEL and flying and be ready to PLF like a mofo .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
-
Initially if this happens"ground speed of zero AND an airspeed of zero" due to WIND SHEAR the canopy will IMO have no flare due to it becomming de-pressurized and lacking forward drive,it will though DROP LIKE A STONE until it becomes fully pressurized and recovers to full flight. Unfortunately i've seen serval accidents caused by wind shear i.e.flying into wind right up/close to a tree lines for example.unless theres sufficient altitude for the canopy to recover to full flight your best option IMO is to PLF like a mofo.Better option is to avoid flying up to tree lines, buildings etc and land in an open space .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Cross Post - Flat Turns ... A Life-Saving Skill!
trigger replied to TB99's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
From what you describe***pull a toggle down from full open flight and then quickly pull the other toggle down to match, so that you get a quick turn and then flatten Will initially dive the canopy as if iniating a [naughty naughty]toggle hook, then yes if you pull on the opposite toggle to match, the canopy will level/possibly stall if intiate TOO much imput on both toggles. Turning the canopy LOW to the GROUND with TOGGLES is BAD with the exception of FLAT TURNS. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER. -

Waking up in the morning

Thank funk for that!!Hopefully an end to two months of extreme boredom. Can't complain too much though this past summer been the best on record travelling around, throwing myself from perfectly good aeroplanes....but upon returning the last two months i've been signing on looking for work and it's been mind numbing as well as frustrating, well the works finally arrived in the guise of a twelve month contract and heres to hitting the road again as soon as suitable funds are available..YIPPEE

Basically i started jumping a cf2 at your numbers[400+] loaded at 1.6+![i now have appox 200 jumps under the cf2] Demo one first, but be aware the crossfire will dive faster, steeper and longer than the Stiletto your currently jumping even at the same WL. However it's not as 'twichy' as the stiletto due to the long toggle stroke IMO. I'd advise jumping a 129/139 first before downsizing as i'll think your find it's a very different animal but in a positive sense. Be carefull, have fun edited to add:Do discuss your choice with your mentors first.i.e.they know you
