  1. I met Chris several years ago in Monterey. Damn good pilot. I have met some other exellent jump pilots as well. One that comes to mind right away is Stretch from Lodi. What a character.
  2. Well if I did not skydive there would be two things I'd spend more time doing. Cycling and skiing during the winter. But as it is we can jump all year round here
  3. Yes last Saturday he did do his 100th skydive. He was promptly pied at the end of the day...
  4. I think he is refering to the missle defense system Bush wants to implement... Star Wars I was Reagan right? Star Wars II would be Bush Jr.
  5. You're right it does not seem to add up Bill. I have no idea what I could do though. Except be a bit worried and hope everything turns out alright.
  6. Has everyone done at least one jump this year? You remember the first one? My very first jump of 2003. Cessna 206. 12:30pm January 1st 2003. 3 way horny gorrilla. Break at 4,500. Dump at 3,500. Velocity 111 toggle unstowed (unknown at the time) super spun up spinning malfunction. Chop. Landed next to my free bag and main which where about 50 feet from eachother. What a start to the New Year.
  7. Ahhh you do have a good point there....

Grrrr... very grrrr.... Did I say it right?
  11. If you are guilty and you want to avoid the insurance increase and point on your DMV record, go with traffic school. If you aint guilty, well fight it. i thought it was every two years myself and it depends on the county. I got two tickets in two different counties several years ago around the same time and was able to to traffic school in both counties. Things may be different now.
  12. So how would this knowledge affect my Gravity Bong?
  13. When jumping on my belly I often fly in positions that are not yet classified I think So mantis, boxman, and unclassified...

    I'll take two

I would get hurt on one of those things. Really bad...
  15. I would think that instead of arguing it that you would be able to request traffic school. Pay the fine but it does not go on your insurance. You can do it via video, internet, or go to a class one day for a couple of hours. Is that available to you in New York?
  16. I see these responses from non JM's. Interesting. Well Smerch, I think it will depend where you are going through student progression. At the DZ I currently work at the first thing you would have to do is some ground refresher training. Since you have not made a jump in more than 30 days. Reviewing all possible emergency procedures, etc. Then depending on your past performance you would have to redo a level three or four. Depending on your performance on that jump you would then be able to return to the last jump you left off on. Level 5 or 6. Jumping in the winter is your decision. But currency is so important. For begginers and experienced people alike. If you you can jump once every week through AFF, at the least, then the learning curve is so much higher and the safety level increases tremendously. Hope all goes well, Good luck!
  17. Steve what are you talking about? You're the famous Montanian to me!
  18. Just FYI, Lake Tahoe CA has recieved quite a bit of snow recently and well probably a damn good place to go skiing right now. Though I rank Colorado #1 in my book. If you are out in the east coast you should be up in Vermont, New Hampshire, or Maine. Chilly but very decent mountains up there.
  19. If at any time a student is unaware of their suroundings or their altitude they must pull. It is part of their freefall emergency procedures or the 5 second rule used for AFF levels 3 through 7. Sounds to me like you just need to redo the jump with your newly learned lesson and move on from there. Good Luck!
  20. The other individuals name was Carol. I have a little snippet from a PM I recived below... Just hopeing for the best for both...
  21. I did not post anything in the incident forum because I have no info regarding the actual accident. Our DZ.com buddy Franck who was in Eloy was in a canopy collision yesterday in Byron CA. Both jumpers where airlifted out. Let's send some good vibes to those involved. If anyone hears anything about his recovery please let us know...
  22. Golf is a perfectly good waste of landing / swooping area for skydivers.
  23. I have been told that to ride the Tour de France is one of the single most grueling kick your ass unbeliavable things that a humans can do. It has to be Lance Armstrong for taking a Eurpean dominated sport and dominating it himself for three years, overcoming cancer, and whatever else. Dude's just plain bad ass. Even if he wears spandex...
