my kids (and every other kid in southeast new brunswick) are home for the third straight day due to windchills in the -40C region. blowing and drifting snow on top of that does make it a little dangerous just getting the kids to school. given these conditions, i'm okay with the kids staying home. of course, my kids are old enough to stay home alone, so there's no hassle with finding a sitter like some people do. -60 somthing C, -90 something C with windchill in Fort McMurray Alberta, winter of 1990. i was driving a truck, delivering a load of lime that had to be blown off, so i spent several hours (in 10 minute increments!) out in it. edited to add: wow, just did the conversion math, it was -76 F, -130 F with the windchill. what, you work for the dealer or something? a llittle grease and/or wd40 will fix that right up, no parts required. seriously though, i was having hard drive problems and a friend suggested i put it in the freezer overnight. i took it out, put it in a zip lock baggie and into the freezer. put it back in in the morning and it's been running fine ever since! give it a go, it's free.
