you want something good and loud to wake you up? go to the closest full-service truck stop and look for the travel alarms that have been retrofitted with a back-up beeper. you know, theose alarms that go off when a truck is put in reverse? a buddy of mine bought one (he was a trucker) and he swore it would wake up guys 2 trucks over in the parking lot! it used to scare him so bad that he would hide it in a drawer full of clothes. it muffled the sound enough that he didn't crap his pants when it went off, and by the time he dug it out to shut it off, he was wide awake. FIXING AN AUDIBLE TO A PRO-TEC HELMET!!

i have a protec that doesn't cover my ears (it was the only one available that was big enough for my melon!) so i mounted mine to the 'V' portion of the chin strap. i used the cable ties that came with it and it stays in fine, and i can hear it fine. the only problem is it tends to slide down below my ear a bit but i intend to fix that with a couple of stitches around the cable ties to hold it up over my ear.
