my semi whuffo wife comes to the bigger parties with me but used to get bored pretty quick because all anyone seemed to want to talk about was skydiving (duh!). she's been bitten by the jumping bug a little though, so now she is more open to talking to different people about stuff they've done, so it's all good. the main problem with whuffos is you end up explaining so much to them because skydiving does have it's own 'language' of sorts. after all, where else would you hear the phrase, 'hey, wanna video me and the missus on a three-way?" and not be shocked. i generally drive 75mph on the highway, regardless of the limit (anywhere form 55 to 70) and i've had one ticket in the last 8 or 9 years, and that was for going 117 km/h in a 110 km/h zone. guess it was quota time. however, while heading for the dz, i run about 3 miles on the highway and usually manage to hit 100mph. don't know why that is. i had an english teacher in grade 10 that always seemed a little wound, then he had a nervous breakdown and we never saw him again. had a physics teacher in grade 12 that would be face-down sound asleep at his desk when we came in first period. for awhile we woke him up, then we just let him sleep and played with stuff in the lab. there were only 6 of us in the class anyway. how about rag about your cow-orkers? one of the other unions is on strike, and i get dicked around (not in a good way) trying to get in in the morning. reported at 0830, got in at 1045. yesterday it was 1100. another guy in my unit got in at 1520, and he leaves at 1530. ...but you all knew that right? many, many firsts this weekend at sdc. i arrived to cloudy skies on friday, my wife registered for her tandem and i got all my paperwork done. wandered into town and saw a movie, met my first dz.commer at the sky lounge friday night, too bad it had to be jraf. had a few beers then wandered back to my tent. saturday morning, i was greeted on my way to the hanger and directed to someone to jump with. did my 5-way with sky (way cool guy!), phil, tom and i can't remember the name of the fifth (i'm terrible with names.) we made 4 points. while packing i met sunshine and got a hug! next jump, my 6-way. i got bumped into the door and took a bit to hook up, but we almost had the third point by breakoff. while packing from that one, i met vallerina! my wife decided to take advantage of the $99 second tandem deal and went again, and had a blast! i decided to do the tourist thing and did a couple of solos, just to look around. made the sunset load with jraf for a horny gorilla, spun it like crazy, too dark to see my altimeter and i started to get dizzy so broke it off around 5k or so, saw jraf off in the distance and then landed uneventfully. went to the lounge afterwards with a cooler full of canadian beer but had a hard time giving it away, so jraf and i drank most of it. got up sunday morning, packed up, said good bye to peeps and headed into chicago to see the blue man group. bottom line, i had an awesome, awesome time and will definitely be back! thanks to everyone for the hospitality!
