paint shop pro is pretty good, but i just started using phto shop elements form adobe. it was $139 CDN ($99 USDF is the list i think) and it does almost anything you'd want it to as far as digital phots, and most of what photo shop does for other digital media. there are free trials (and cracks) available if you want to try it out for free. same for paint shop pro. if i could make it back to the dz, it would be pretty incredible... the balloon is launching about 40 miles away! i know i'm going to kick myself for not going, and everyone will rub it in, but it's close to christmas, and i looked at the money i'd spend, the money i'll make and the crap i'll avoid by working instead of dumping it on someone else at short notice (i'm on call anyway this weekend) and figured i better stay. oh well, there's always next year. i was there for both of my kids, but my daughter was an emergency c-section so i didn't actually get to watch, but i did get to hold her for about 5 hours until my ex came out of the anesthetic. i did watch thw whole show when my son was born. not sure if that was a good idea. that sucks! we have a couple of simple rules at the dz. 1. no smoking in the packing area, period. 2. don't throw butts in the landing area, use the butt buckets. other than that, it's just common sense not to smoke around something expensive and nylon. if you're having a smoke and someone is approaching with an armload of canopy, get the hell away from them! what i think of as a delta is what you would use to dive down to a formation, legs out, arms back and out to the sides, but above your body and you keep some kind of an arch. a track (again, as i understand it) is legs out, arms back to the sides but pushing slightly lower than the body, and a flat or slightly de-arched body and is meant to clear away from a formation prior to deployment. best bet, as usual, talk to your instructors. my ex took my last name when we married, and kept it even after we got divorced and after she remarried! she claimed, alternatly, that it would confuse the kids, or that it was too difficult. she finally (7 years or so later) went back to her maiden name. my present wife also took my last name after we married (it was odd having two mrs. langille's around that i caused) and it took her no time at all to get everything changed. i was not as concerned about my wife taking my name as i was my kids having mine. my first christmas away from home (1000 miles away) when i was working on a dairy farm. christmas day, in the barn at 0500 to do the milking (stupid cows don't know enough to take the day off). started off with a spliff and moved to the jack daniels. by 0700 i was too drunk to drive the tractor. stuffed it into a snowbank beside the barn, walked back to the place i was boarding, and continued drinking all day. came very close to passing out in my turkey. i was a hurting unit on boxing day.
