my fault for not reading the link, i read the story in yesterday's paper... pretty inventive for a 10 year old... probably had no idea what he would start with his little story. "Jumping out of planes for the thrill of it all." -J.Geils Band

how about we round them up, nail their balls to a stump, set their balls on fire and give them a hammer to put out the flames... nah, there must be something nasty we could do to them. something that will scar them for life, like the kid who watched is dog being tortured and killed. i read that in the paper, the kid was 10, the dog was 8, so he wouldn't remember not having the dog. i can't imagine that. as a parent of a 10 year old, i know i would be out hunting for those assholes personally. payback's a bitch, know what i mean? There's a no-frills type airline in Canada called WestJet and i always get a kcik out of their flight crews. there's always a little poem or song when you are taxiing to the gate. here's a sample, sung to the tune of the barney song: We love you, You love us, WestJet's better Than the bus. With a great big hug And a kiss from you to me, Marry one of us And you fly for free! "Jumping out of planes for the thrill of it all." -J.Geils Band

hadn't thought of the safety issue, i guess having your canopy open accidentally would be bad in a tunnel..

why is abbreviation such a long word? why don't duck's quacks echo? what is the speed of dark? what is nothing? how come cows can stand in the rain, but it would ruin my leather jacket? these things confuse me. i think i'll go lie down for awhile now. do you wear your rig in the tunnel, or anything to simulate it? ...or does the face that it is usually in your wake negate any aerodynamic effects it might have? "Jumping out of planes for the thrill of it all." -J.Geils Band

sheep shagging, okay, how about an old joke... what's the difference between the rolling stones and a scottish sheep farmer? the stones say, 'hey, you, get off of my cloud' and the scottish sheep farmer says, hey, McLeod, get off of my ewe! i love useless threads! on my first jump, i did almost everything wrong. it was an iad from a 182. i was fine all through the course, the plane ride was smooth, my climb out was great, then i looked down and i think my brain stopped. i was looking down instead of at the plane so i tumbled forward. the jumpmaster said i started running in midair trying to get stable again. i forgot to count. once my canopy opened, things came back to me and i checked everything out, did my control checks and had a great time. i flared a little early and came in a bit hard and fell over backwards on my ass. couldn't wait to do it again!!!

saw an ad for a show on the learning channel (might be discovery in the us, not sure) called something like extreme challenge. looked kinda like fear factor, they put the contestants (lucky bastards!) through a bunch of stuff. the two that stuck with me were the stock car driving course, and what looked in the commercials like an aff course! oh yeah, it's on wednesday night at 10 (i think) eastern.. i was reading one of the letters to the editor by g.h.perry in the jan 2002 isue of skydiving regarding the common name for non-jumping type people. he (she?) was wondering if we could come up with a better name. he (she?) suggested 'groundhogs' (appropriate because apparently pigs cannot look up!). i like that one, and can't think of anything better... anyone else have a suggestion? ps ..just to get it out of the way now, boobies, boobies, boobies! could be worse... there might be TWO FEET OF F&%$ING SNOW outside, that will be here for at least THREE MORE F&%$ING MONTHS!! instead of a temporarily AWOL DZO... grumble, grumble ...and if someone suggests i move somewhere warmer, i'm going to cyber-kick them in the nuts! as appealing as that sounds, i don't think the wife and kids and ex-wife would go along with that!! "Jumping out of planes for the thrill of it all." -J.Geils Band

i can understand the bondage part anyway, look at all the straps and buckles on a rig! maybe it's more about being trussed up in the rig than jumping out of an airplane! "Jumping out of planes for the thrill of it all." -J.Geils Band

actually, no, but the site that article was on, http://www.theregister.co.uk is mostly a tech site i read regularly... sometimes they have an odd story like that one on therre, and it was so bizarre that it stuck with me... "Jumping out of planes for the thrill of it all." -J.Geils Band
