i was thinking of going the feefly route for a couple of reasons: 1. nobody to run into or kick in the head because i didn't quite have control of a manouver. 2. nobody will know if i miss a move because i would be making them up as i went anyway. 3. it just looks like more fun than concentrating on a pre-set series of moves, more time to just enjoy the ride. that's pretty much what i've picked up as well. except you could probably add - small canopies and swooping are bad if you don't have the experience and/or training. - everyone loves boobies - listening to everyone talk about all the jumps they did last weekend sux when there's 3 feet of snow outside your door. - everyone loves boobies. i find that any sport/event that is artistic in nature is open to this kind of contorversy, the results are all in someone's interpretation. if you can't measure something to determine a winner, someone will always complain. i didn't see the event either, but for a country that doesn't win 100 golds every olympics, one here and there adds up. that said, i think the competitors in these kind of sports are used to getting screwed over on occasion. it's a shame all the same though. the nike thing i bought is kind of a flattened egg shape (no sharp edges and you can lock the controls so they don't get bumped) and like i said, you can wear it on your arm. use a pair of bud type ear phones, run the cable down your back inside your jumpsuit and voila, free fall tuneage. depends what you want it for... i got the missus a nike psaplay thing, very light weight, batteries last good without the remote, 64mb ram, good for over an hour of music (depending on format, it plays mp3s and wma's) and it looks cool when you wear it on your arm. she wears it to the gym and everyone thought it was a cardiac monitor or something. it's based on the rio, so by extension i guess they would be good too. if you don't bounce around much, the cd based ones hold a lot more, and i guess there are actually micro hard drive based ones as well, but i wouldn't think they would be as durable as the memory based ones. and i agree, select 80's rock rules, as long as you stay away from the power ballads (night ranger et al)...
