4 (hours of prep for pff level 1):1:1 one hop'n'pop to get current (first jump of the year, finally!) and the first is my first $1k+ cheque i've written for skydiving. paid for my pff! didn't get to do my first level though, have to go back next weekend.

two points: while it is true that most of the time nascar is a go fast, turn left sport, twice a year they do road courses. this weekend they are in sonoma at sears point raceway, and later in the summer they do watkins glen ny. check it out, it's pretty amusing to watch them. not as funny as the craftsman truck series on a road course, but still entertaining. competition in f1? i'm not going to argue about the driving skills of nascar vs. f1, it's an apples to oranges thing. but competition? f1 race, whoever makes it to the first corner first, wins, and it's generally a shuemacher in a red ferrari, and it's generally by at least 30 seconds. in nascar, it generally comes down to the last lap or so, usually by 10th's of a second. a few years ago, the championship was won in the last 5 laps of the last race of the year! f1 may be the cream of the crop technologically, but sadly, competition is lacking. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ bunky get crazy, before it gets you.

actually, they're quite similar if you think of it... hours of nothing (running laps, running around the field), brief periods of excitement (a wreck and pit stops , a goal) followed by more boredom. that said, i would sooner watch a nascar race than a soccer game. imho, some sports should be played, not watched.. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ bunky get crazy, before it gets you.

sorry for being serious in a silly-fun thread, but i've read a couple of articles about standard 3-ring setups vs. mini-rings. the only reason people were choosing minis was because they looked better. the larger rings are (from what i've read, i'm NOT an expert) safer, but people think they look kinda clunky. wouldn't that be a case of a skydiver going for appearance over function? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ bunky get crazy, before it gets you.

i saw that too, not a bad flick, but i found it confusing, having read the book(s) first. everything being all out of sequence sucked. i guess if you hadn't read the book it wasn't bad. it would be hard to make a movie of clancy's books without chopping the hell out of them. either that or do a mini series. the level of detail in the books is way too much for a 2 or even 3 hour movie. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ bunky get crazy, before it gets you.

people that do that p!ss me off as well. i used to drive a tractor trailer through the northeast, and what go me was the one's who would try that at a toll booth. trucks generally have to go through the far right gate, and people would fly up the shoulder and then try to cut in. one time i was about 20 vehicles back from the toll booth and saw someone running up the shoulder so i pulled over and took about half of it up, and the guy never slacked off, drove right down into the grass to go around me and then tried to cut in. funny thing was, nobody let him in and he was still sitting there when the state trooper came up the shoulder behind him and (i'm assuming) wrote him up for driving on the shoulder. i laughed. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ bunky get crazy, before it gets you.

same thing happened to my neighbour a couple of weeks ago. he's a mountie and they got his badge, a cell phone and a couple of other things (he didn't say what). they rifled through the glove box of my toyota, but there was nothing there, the beemer was locked and they left it alone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ bunky get crazy, before it gets you.
