Jerry, you need to speak to John Kallend (username Kallend, go figure?) and get his group separation stuff. Its been discussed here heaps of times, so try searching, or PM him for his latest simulations. Basically, you should have exited after the 8 way. Hey Jim, I'm loving the stuff you guys are putting together down there, good work folks. Man I wish I was still there. Anyways, what do people think the future of freefly big ways is....I really liked the pics PH2003, they were stunning, and had an almost surreal quality, however I can't help feeling all they are doing is emulating belly bigways. IE they are making 2 dimensional (everyone on level) formations. I realise they are not easy to fly head down, and have more respect for the fliers than my limited vocabulary can adequately describe.... However, I find the multi layered (not a flat formation), multi discipline (belly, sit, head down) mix much more appealing. Both visualy, and they seem to capture the 'mix it up, everyone plays together' approach that more and more freefliers are exploring. Plus, I'm looking forward to hearing about you guys turning hybrid pieces to a second point in the not too distant future... Something I've been thinking about since my first hybrid....And now I'm just thinking out loud, pre coffee.... Why doesn't someone come up with a design of gripper for hybrids, that could be retrofitted to a rig by say, adding a strap across the mudflaps/liftwebs/chest rings, fastened via quick snaps/fastex clips or similar. Or worn under a rig, maybe like a climbing chest harness. You don't have hangers on your chest strap and they are less likely to grab a handle, if the 'proper grip' is a different colour/design etc....Maybe even something similar to a belly camera mount, but with a big handle instead of the metal work. Downside, the design must not interfere with the normal operation of the rig, it can't impede access to your handles, and it can't nip or crush any housings, it should be easy to ditch, and it should be cheap. " Excellent rule of thumb, I'd also add, if you are not 100% sure, and have to ask somebody, then you are not ready to permanently disconnect the RSL. (you can temporarily disconnect it and tuck it into your mudflap if you occassionaly jump camera, do crew, etc.. Its a big decision, and by no means marks a newbie/experienced thing. A hooked up RSL does not mean you are still a fledgling. Its a personal decision you have to make, and is likely to be influenced by your canopies propensity to put you on your back during a mal, how often this is likely to happen, how often you do crew, and whether you jump camera.
