  1. See? Misaltas has called people who care to speak and write properly "elitists". Billvon really explained this well in another thread with a hyperbolic remark, but still, right on the money. If being educated and able to write and speak correctly makes me elitist, then I'll say i'm proud to be a snob. This argument has NOTHING to do with race and everything to do with the current anti-education attitude that prevails in this country today. 2. I'm so, so sorry. You and your family are in my prayers. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  3. honestly, when i wrote my answer, race never once crossed my mind. it never enters my argument. I didn't even CONSIDER that this could be considered a racist thread. This culture of "championed ignorance" isn't race-based. Maybe i'm naive. Idiots exist in ALL races. Sorry to say. 4. because speaking and writing properly is considered "elitist". Good ol' boys don't use proper punctuation! It's a symptom of a larger epidemic in this country. I'm talking about the anti-intelligence epidemic. It's not only that people are ignorant. It's that they are PROUD to be ignorant and get offended if someone else indicates that they should not be ignorant. Hell, just read any post in this forum where grammar or spelling is corrected. The person doing the correcting gets HAMMERED. They get told that "it doesn't matter, you got my point" and other comments of a similar nature. It starts at the top, with leaders who project the image that "it's OK to be mediocre! Look how far I've come!" People mix that up with the mentality of "pulling oneself up by their bootstraps". Education and intelligence are just not valued in this culture, and you are seeing the symptoms of that. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  5. very similar to the answers in my other poll: Global climate change, population growth, and resource scarcity. Population growth is the single #1 issue that is most overlooked, unfortunately. It effects so many of the others, and is the direct cause of many of them, as well. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  6. Global climate change global population growth global reliance on oil. i'm global! Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  7. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the funniest site on the internet. http://notwithoutmyhandbag.com/babynames/ I can't even get through the first page before i'm in tears of laughter. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  8. oh my goodness, i'm shocked. Any word on what happened? I watched Elijah go from AFF student to that typical 100-jump wonder who thinks they are invincible (i remember a few times thinking "man, that kid's gonna hurt himself someday soon!") to a mature, competent skydiver who gave his all for Skydive New Mexico. I was amazed and proud when i heard he was getting all his ratings. And even when he was new, i could see his love for the sport, and his love for all aspects of it. freefly, rw, camera, wingsuit, swooping, you name it, he loved it. My prayers are with Danny, Isaiah, and all of the SDNM family. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  9. I think you missed the point by all means, borrow a canopy if you aren't confident in your ability on either of the ones you own, or if you aren't confident in their openings being consistent. But if you do borrow a canopy, make sure you know how to fly it and that you can be 100% confident in your abilities and openings on that canopy. Seems to me that the ones you're used to are the better choice, but I could be wrong... Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  10. always makes me chuckle when people who are not canadian comment and state "facts" about the canadian health care system. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  11. argh....how idiotic can people be?? http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news?slug=ap-toogoodtopitch&prov=ap&type=lgns i mean, come on. They should be celebrating and nurturing this kid! Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  12. Whichever one i felt more comfortable and confident on, and had the most consistent openings. doesn't really matter *what* the canopies are. The above criteria are what i would use. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

  14. yup, mine was a mixture of The Pentagon Wars and Office Space. which is why i no longer do that for a living... Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  15. Give me the name of your waxer! All the yahoos here spend like an hour messing around down there! an HOUR??? good god, woman! find yourself a new waxer, ASAP. Seriously, it should take them 10-15 minutes, max, and that's for taking it ALL off. Not sure where you are, but in the San Diego area, i HIGHLY recommend a salon called...i'm not making this up... The Pretty Kitty Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  16. LMAO! that's why I leave the waxing of that area to the professionals. 10 minutes of semi-pain (it's actually not as bad as they make it sound...) for weeks of bliss. Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  17. The best, most ironic thing in this thread is that the thread title has an...erroneous apostrophe!!! LOL
  18. Well, i voted for who i HOPE he picks. There's really only a couple people on the list who have pretty much everything he needs in one package, but each of course has their flaws, as well. I voted for Bill Richardson. Hispanic vote? check. Important state? Check. IMPORTANT federal govt. experience? Check. International political experience? Check. Major switch to being an Obama supporter early on? Check. His downside is that he's not the best campaigner. To me the good FAR FAR outweighs this. "Former Secretary of Energy" HAS to hold a huge amount of weight when Obama is looking at running mate experience, especially in a year where energy policy is perhaps the single biggest issue behind the war in Iraq. Not to mention the hispanic vote. I think Richardson on the ticket not only will help him with current hispanic voters...it will bring more previously-unregistered hispanic voters to the polls. I know "ethnic votes" is a stupid thing, i hate it, but it's a fact of life in america these days... Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!

  20. "we dropped a little bomb on Hiroshima" "Katrina was a bit of a storm..." I got the screws in my knee removed, but the rod is still in my femur for now. Guess i'll always be eligible...hehe Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup!
  21. don't grill it ALL with teriyaki. (ruins it, imho!) just like good beef, good fresh tuna steak really needs NO sauce or marinade to make it taste amazing. It's amazing on its own. I like it grilled plain, then with some lemon or butter on the side to drizzle on it after the fact. simple, but best And any side dish goes fine. 22. I have to agree. the votes for equestrian not belonging have obviously never ridden a horse on anything but a western saddle, if at all. Trust me, that shit takes WORK, it is HARD, and there's no doubt that it is all in the rider. I picked the subjective things, including gymnastics. Yes, it's amazing to watch, but without an objective score...doesn't belong. badminton and table tennis have scores, and very obvious ones at that. Not to mention they are extremely popular in many other countries. As boring as they are to watch, "spectator sport" has never been a criteria for the olympics. x-games, maybe, but not the olympics. 23. This is why we can't be like Denmark. This attitude right here. Sorry, i hate to pick on someone but you summed it up nicely. Denmark decided that a sustainable future was "worth it". They thought long term and stuck with it, no matter that it cost more in the short term. The day more Americans decide that a sustainable future (energy-wise) is more "worth it" than lining their wallets today, THAT'S the day when we will see true change. 25. pop, i'd say give it up. they will not read your coherent discussions and will immediately assume that all "christians" or even "spiritual people" are to be lumped together in the same group as chuteless. Which is hilarious, since if they'd even READ my posts, they'd see that i have more in common with their beliefs on evolution than with chuteless's. BTW, i also became a christian through science, but no one wants to hear that it's possible. For some reason BOTH 'sides" of this argument think it is to their advantage to keep the two at war, when really they can easily coexist.
