I wish! I live in England and it's winter I'm still Standard Def and tape based, so the nuances of HD and solid state have passed me by but I'm looking at catching up with the CX100/5. Thanks for filling me in (and Jarno). So, why the difference of 5 in the 100/5 but only 1 in 6/7 and 11/12? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

The HDR-CX105 camera is called the HDR-CX100 in the U.S. Ah! And what do you call the projector? Seriously, is this a newer version of how they used to refer to PAL cameras with the 'e' suffix? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

  8. Well, you'll be subject to stricter wind limits (15 knots), mandatory safety equipment (RSL, AAD etc although some dropzones require AAD beyond A licence), depending on where you are in your training you'll need additional instruction (I wouldn't even recommend changing DZs back home, let alone trying to slot into a different country's system), and there has to be an instructor on board to dispatch you. It'll just be a lot easier if you have your A licence! Which DZ do you think you'll be jumping at? Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  9. A one month membership currently costs £28.15 but that should be lower from April of this year. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  10. If you don't have your A licence, you will be a student and you will be treated as such, so get that if you can. Bring your (well filled out) logbook as well. You'll also need to purchase temporary membership of the British Parachute Association. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  11. Wow, I was just about to renew. I'm shocked. Despite the digital age, you can't beat paper in your hand. Plus the world-wide coverage of skydiving and BASE that couldn't be found elsewhere. Shame. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live
  12. Billy, Doctor John Carter, the BPA Medicial Advisor, gave a presentation at the recent Dropzone Owners and Operators meeting and talked about some of the issues affecting the issue of medicals (such as doctor's not wanting to do they because they don't feel they are qualified because they don't know about skydiving - they don't need to, being a doctor is adequate qualification). It is hoped that the medical form can be streamlined to help alleviate issues such as these. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

  16. BOught the missus a Forerunner 405 for her birthday. Will have to give it a try in the air, but it records a trackpoint every four seconds which isn't really frequent enough. Skydiving Fatalities - Cease not to learn 'til thou cease to live

  23. It's interesting to note that the TSA's information about carrying parachutes on aircraft says, Which to me imples that a rig must be in a bag? And to an overly officious TSA agent, it may do as well (sorry to give them ideas). Also, that weight isn't specified as equipment that can be carried-on or checked-in in their information about transporting scuba equipment.
