First, I am NOT a fan of many of Palins Political views. She is the type of Republican that I think gives Conservatives a bad name. But in response to that site and their claims: 1) She is presently under investigation in Alaska for abuse of power. True. Every knows this but "Under Investigation For" and "Guilty of" are two totally different things. As of now, She has not been found guilty of. 2) She offered a bounty of $150 for each right front leg of freshly killed wolves. If you have a Wolf Problem where they are putting Humans in Danger, I see nothing at all wrong with this. I love animals too (Especially the Tasty ones) but I always put Humans before animals. Offering a reward like this is not unheard of when trying to reduce animals that have become a threat. 3) She is opposed to abortion even in cases of rape and incest. True. And this is the main reason I could never fully support her. 4) She is a champion for big oil and supports drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and everywhere else. So are MANY people. Drill NOW!! 5) She believes creationism should be taught in public schools. As long as it is balanced by teaching also teaching evolution, I see nothing wrong with that. The VAST majority of the people in this country believe that God Created the earth. 6) She believes man-made global warming is a farce. Ok.. Get with the times. Global Warming is no longer the Alarmist Phrase of choice since it has been proven to be less than accurate. The correct Alarmist wording is now "Climate Change". She is far from the only one that thinks Man-Made Global Warming is a load of horse shit. 7) She is opposed to listing the polar bear as an endangered species because she thinks it will limit oil exploitation. Hmmm.. Can you Spotted Owl?? I Knew you could. 8) While mayor of Wasilla she tried to fire the city librarian because the librarian refused to censor books. What Books do belong in a public Library? Where do you draw the line? Should we have Hustler in periodicals section right beside Time and Newsweek? Hey It might get the kids back into the library. How about the Anarchist Cookbook? Bomb Building 101? Where do YOU draw the line? 9) She supports aerial hunting of wolves and bears even though Alaskans voted twice to ban the practice. If the purpose is to Kill predatory animals that endanger People, Use a Plane, Train, Grenade.. Whatever it takes to get the job done. 10) She used $400,000 of state money to fund a media campaign in support of aerial hunting. Using state money to support a state program?? Wow. Again.. I do NOT support Palin but if you are going to bash her, Alot better can be found than that site.

Talk to a Lawyer, A REAL one and not one someone that just plays one of the interweb thingy. Every state is different and has different laws on this. I believe that in my state (Also a right to work state) Non-complete clauses in employment contracts are generally not worth the paper they are written on. Case Law in Georgia backs this up with the courts ruling that a person has a right to make a living in their chosen field without having to relocate. Your state may view this differently.. Also if the DZO wants to spend $1,000`s of dollars to go after you for something that will take Years to resolve.. Hey.. Let him try. I cant really see where it is in the DZO`s best interest to actually pursue something like this for a basically "Unskilled" job. I used to have a couple ferrets. I am totally convinced that some how they hold the key to solving the worlds energy crisis. Every day I would clean their Cage (HUGE cage with tubes running from room to room in the house) and leave them a small amount of food. When I would get home there would be a pile of Shit roughly equal to 100 times the size of the pile of food I left. They would recreate this unbelievable feat every day. I even started weighing the food and weighing what I was cleaning out. AMAZING!! 1 oz of food generates 100 oz’s of shit. Build a car that runs off ferret shit and the gas crisis is solved!!

No. It gives us a chance to learn from mistakes without getting killed. We all make mistakes. We all need to do better and focus on education but as long as people are allowed to Swoop in the same area that people are trying to land a standard pattern, We will continue to have more and more canopy collisions. Separate the landings areas by Time or Distance. People with more jumps than most of the people in this thread combined (Including the HP Canopy Pilots) have already proven this by causing canopy collisions and killing themselves and others while swooping the main landing area while standard pattern fliers were trying to land. Most of those accidents had NOTHING to do with someone spiraling down under a Larger canopy (even though that may have been a contributing factor to this one). It doesn’t work. People DIE when you mix HP landings and Standard landings. How many more need to get killed before people realize this?

Anyone have any good suggestions for lowering Blood pressure? This mess is going to cause me to have a stroke if I cant find a way to get it resolved. It just keep getting worse. Timeline 6/26/2008 - I buy a car from a Used car dealer. Dealer agrees to fix A/C problem as part of the sale. Supposed to pick up the car the next day. 6/27/2008 - Go to pick up car. A/C Temp control not fixed. Dealer says Shop has to order parts Car will be ready in a few days. Told I could pick up car on July 2/2008. 7/2/2008 – Go to pick up car. A/C Still not fix and additional problem now present with Vent selector. Told that they would replace the entire Blend box. Pick up the car 7/08/2008. 7/8/2008 – Go to pick up car, A/C Temp control Fixed but Vent selector is not working. Told they would take it back and get it fixed. Pick up car on 7/9/2008. 7/9/2008 – Go to pick up car. Still not fixed. I ask for my money back. Dealer writes me a check for the purchase price. 7/10/2008 - I deposit Dealers check into my Checking account. 7/11/2008 - Dealers check Credited to my account. I with draw $5K cash from my bank to take my daughter shopping for a new car. I think we are done... Noooooo. The fun is just beginning. 7/11/2008 - Get a call from dealer that says my original Check Bounced and is being returned. I call my Bank (Chase - HELOC) and discover that they have re-appraised my house and devalued it $60K and froze my Home Equity line. They say they did bounce the check and there is no way to reopen my line of credit at this time. 7/11/2008 - I call the dealer back, Explain what happened and offer to come pick up the bad check. He declines saying he had a stop Payment placed on the check he gave me. Police contacted and a complaint filed for Check Fraud. 7/12/2008 Get a call from dealer saying His check had cleared before the stop payment was placed. I tell him I have $5K cash on me and will be right there to cover the original bad check I wrote. I go to him and give him cash, Get receipts, Pictures ect.. Goto police dept and get the complaint cleared up. 7/14.2008 - Receive Letter from Chase verifying they have returned Check 113 to the Payee (The dealer) because my account was frozen. 7/17/2008 - My Checking Account is overdrawn. My Bank (Wachovia) removed $5K from my checking account because the stop payment on the dealers check was honored. 7/17/2008 - Discover that Chase (My HELOC Bank) shows MY original check as cleared on July 8th. Contact disputes dept and told 7 to 10 days to investigate. ------------Events that have happened since my first Post------------------ 7/21/2008 – Go to Dealer and he writes me a NEW check for the $5K. 7/24/2008 – Go to Dealers Bank (Regents) to CASH his check (Trying to by pass my bank (Wachovia) completely in case there are any problems). Well there is a problem. Insufficient Funds in his account to cover the check. The teller tells me that there are deposits pending and to represent the tomorrow and it should be good. 7/24/2008 – Receive Letter from Chase saying the ORIGINAL Check I wrote off the HELOC was resubmitted by Regents bank on July 8th and this time they Honored it. 7/25/2008 – Call Chase and ask how the hell they can BOUNCE the check and tell me my account was frozen and then a couple days later Arbitrarily decide to HONOR that check AFTER they told me it Bounced (And STILL not notify me!!!). So the dealer NOW has the Origianal $5K I wrote the check for PLUS the $5K CASH I gave him after I was told by Chase that they Bounced the check. 7/25/2008 – Go to back to Regents Bank to try to cash Dealers Check. Still insufficient fund to cover this check. Current status – $10K out of pocket and No car. Blood pressure is through the roof and the dealer is out of town till Monday. Sorry.. Just had to vent one more time. If I still had hair, I would have surely pulled it out by now.

The post you are referring to is one of the best I have read on this and I agree with it completely. I would gladly take your pledge. I have NEVER even come close to suggesting banning Swooping (Lets not get emotional here and twist what is being said). I plan on starting to learn myself. I am simply saying HP Landing and Normal Landing in the same area at the same time are a disaster waiting to happen. EVERYONE makes mistakes. (Big Wing, Small wing and everyone in between). Separate HP landings from Standard Landings and we might have a chance to learn from those mistakes. We ALL need to do better but separating HP landings from standard landings is needed.

You are right. I am not educated enough to understand how someone can always see everything and make the right decision everytime. I know I am not that good and never will be, At anything.

Discussing an accident that involved BOTH of these things. And pointing out the Hipcracy. To me the arguments that HP canopy pilots make about swooping the main landing area and this guys arguments about his RIGHT to spiral are equally laughable.

And if it doesnt, Would you swoop anyway? And Swooping where people are trying to land in a Normal Pattern affects more than just swoopers. It endangers anyone else trying to land in the same area at the same time. And I am sick of friends dying in canopy collisions. It was certainly a contributing factor. Something every jumper should consider when choosing a place to jump. If the DZ doesnt seperate HP landing from Standard landings, It is disaster waiting to happen. If you have HP landings and Normal Pattern landing in the same area at the same time, It is just a matter of time. Evreyone of us is Human and makes mistakes. Mix slow and HP landing in the same area and those mistakes cost lives. Two people at 20 MPH has a much greater chance of seeing each other after one of them makes a mistake and avoid and/or recovering from a collision than One person flying 20 mph and another coming in from thier blinds spot at 80+ MPH. Of all the canopy collision in the past two years, This is the only one I can remember where a slower canopy spiraling down may have been a factor. We all need to do better but seperating HP landings from Standard Landings is the only way to reduce these accidents. Anyone know if the USPA GM Pledge was ever actually changed to require a plan for seperating HP landing and Standard Landings?

Replace the word Spiral with the word Swoop everywhere in your post And reread it. If Swoopers have right to jepordize the lives of Standard Pattern Fliers whenever they want bust a 270 in the main landing area while other canopies are in the air, Why doesnt he have Right to jepordize everyones life by doing Spirals in the Holding Area?? Both are Stupid in my opinion.

Well then how is his insistence that He can Spiral in the playground (I prefer the term Holding Area) any different from the Swoop Gods insistence they have a RIGHT to swoop the main landing area? I disagree with both Rights BTW.. Just pointing out the hypocrisy. I think we all have a RIGHT to a chance at landing our canopies safely. Too me that means No Spiraling when there is any chance other canopies may be nearby AND I don’t have to worry that a Swooper is going to Blindside me if I am flying a safe predictable pattern.
