  3. Didn't you have a Havok at one time? The FreeZR looks really nice. I'm a Havok user right now. My glasses are getting smaller. SCR #14809 "our attitude is the thing most capable of keeping us safe" (look, grab, look, grab, peel, punch, punch, arch)

  5. I brought beer my first night at the dropzone. I actually had more time sitting around with folks who enjoyed my beer and told me stories that first night than most nights since (until 5 AM no less). I've brought beer several times, and yes I owed beer. But I'm starting to figure out that it's a bogus "tradition". You might wonder why I stay at the dz on Saturday night, but don't jump on Sunday. It's because I drank all of my beer while everybody else sat on their asses in their trailers. Woo-hoo...we're skydivers...in our air-conditioned trailers...with the people we choose to hang with. I've sat on couches and drank 12 of my own, wondering if this "dropzone vibe" was real or just folklore. Whatever man. There's nothing like seeing a punk packer grab 4 of your beers out of the "student beer fridge", stuff two in his pockets, and have two in his hands while he talks to his girlfriend then splits. Thanks dude. Your little brother is just like you, except that he doesn't steal the beer (he was appreciative of the YooHoo that I gave him though). I know that I don't seem really "personable" on the outside (apparently it has something to do with the way I look...seriously), but I'm just a guy that likes to have fun and drink myself to bed with some good friends. I asked Loud Dan on the way to altitude once, "Do I seem like an uptight person"? He said, "you seem like somebody that's really goal focused." I guess that was a nice way to put it. I've even gotten to the point that I'll hang out around Sunman just to see what kind of outrageous shit will come out of his mouth next. Most of the people at the dz don't want to talk about skydiving...unless it's to show you how much they know (setting the alpha order). They mostly just want to gather "their posse", and head off to their private parties and shut their trailer doors. The other people? Well, the other people are real skydivers. I guess I was born about 20 years too late. I'll have a beer with you any time James. 6. Dude, I've got brown bottles...but I can make them green if you give me a few minutes. SCR #14809 "our attitude is the thing most capable of keeping us safe" (look, grab, look, grab, peel, punch, punch, arch)
  7. Thank you for putting this site together, and continuing to work on it for years until it became what it is today. It might not be the next MySQL, but it is very important for us. I did my first searches on skydiving here. I did my first bit of learning about how I should avoid certain companies. I learned a lot before I ever jumped from a plane, thanks to you building and maintaining this site. At SkyFest, I noticed that after meeting someone new, the first question was "are you on dropzone.com" or "what's your name on dropzone"? Thank you Sangrio. I may never meet you in person, but if you were to tour drop zones in the USA, all you would have to do is introduce yourself and you'd probably see a free jump ticket in your hands. Thank you again. I hope things stay the same...as they change. - David SCR #14809 "our attitude is the thing most capable of keeping us safe" (look, grab, look, grab, peel, punch, punch, arch)
  8. I loved the poem. It made the hairs stand up on my arms. Good goosebumps. I actually felt like part of history, and started to understand the pride behind the SCR. Thank you too for the picture. Hey, I even made it into the picture of Lauraliscious...well, half of my left hand made it into the picture. 9. ...and, if you're still nervous about sliding on landing just detach your slider and fashion an impromptu diaper out of it. For a more "French Rivera" look, just collapse the slider. We could just drag the bouncy house out onto the landing area.
  10. And likely will, once thyroxin is stabilized, cause a more "normal" cycle of feeling tired to feeling awake...if I remember correctly. Cheers. - db SCR #14809 "our attitude is the thing most capable of keeping us safe" (look, grab, look, grab, peel, punch, punch, arch)

  14. 96.8 is my normal. I've heard it for years..."oh, a temperature of 100 isn't much of a fever". Right, not for someone with a normal body temp. As for the being tired thing, yep. Before I started on medication to treat some symptoms, I had a really neat trick I could do (and still do if I go off my medication). I can slow my heart-rate down at will. My fiance' got a bit miffed at me for doing it before an operation 10 years ago. A nurse was taking my vitals and prepping me for surgery and they had the monitor turned. I kept making the alarm go off on it. The nurse eventually just turned it off. She didn't smile either. 20. Try a banana, ibuprofen, water, and visualization. The water, potassium and ibuprofen will help with the physical. The visualization will help with the conscious mind. All that is left is the "fun" part of the nerves. The part that makes you giggle at the tummy shivers you get.
