  3. I'd say we're all going straight to hell....hey the WFFC is in Rantoul this year!!! hmm......
  4. I was raised Catholic and i guess i still am, though i have modified it in my head to believe some of the stuff that makes sense and discard the rest. Its also a personal belief of mine that a higher power exists, and that all religions (or most of them) have an inkling of what it is but none of them have it exactly right. I think all paths point to the same thing but that the paths they take are different, kinda like climbing a mountain from all the different sides. So, I think that all the religious wars are pointless (war is pointless, but religious war more so) cuz they are essentially arguing the same thing. Moreover, in the afterlife everyone is enlightened to where they realize it was all stupid. My own opinion. As far as the God vs Science debate, I studied engineering and am generally logical and scientifically minded. I still believe in something (most resembling the Catholic version of God since thats what i was taught). What I think when people say that nothing has proven the existence of God one way or the other is that if there is a being that is capable of creating the Universe, He/She has the capability to escape our detection despite whatever efforts we can make and just because we as humans, with our limitations, can't prove it doesn't mean it can't exist. I'm not attacking people who think this way, I just don't agree with it (and i am not pointing at anyone who has expressed their views here, im talking in general). I think that part of being a scientist is to keep your possibilities open that anything is possible cuz throughout history there has been things that were thought to be ABSOLUTELY true, only to be disproven to the point that to think thats how everyone thought is laugable. And correct me if i am wrong, but science is just a set of theorems that are proven by trial and error.....that is, that a statistical set of trials falls into a certain pattern. The theorem is proven "true" when more often than not a certain result comes up. Well, to some, myself included, this is proof of something that on a base level you have to accept as true to move on to higher level observations. Now, religion hasn't been as palpably proven (maybe for some it has, but not to me) but like science it's somethign you are told that you do or do not believe. So, I can't discard religion or a belief in God because of lack of proof. Personally, I think that the feeling i get from skydiving is the proof that there is a higher power that set up the universe a certain way. Being in love must be the same way too. Nothing concrete, just a feeling. Anyway, I really need to skydive before i go completely insane. blue skies Tomas
  5. Joe, Come to the Dark Side.......................... oh, and 0:0:0....im getting really fuckin sick of this chicagoland weather....
  6. It was windy. In Hinckley i didn't jump. This sucks a lot. Next weekend I go down to Archway Jump there maybe.
  7. Aside from the fact that the scenery is freakin spectacular and that it's warmer there than here right now, jumping in Chile (the dz i jumped at) is like a c-182 operating skydiving club. Really laid back and fun, but don't count on making too many skydives because it works really slllllllllooooooooooooowwwlllyyyyyyyyyyy.... Still, I got to jump in a foreign country! blue skies Tomas

    I wish

    MMMMM.....W.O.P.R.
  9. I think it would be neat to know what happens at those points in the Universe where the laws of time and physics and existence as we know it gets shot to hell because of ridiculous amounts of gravity and energy.
  10. I think I would add: Get a team of world-class lawyers and know when the good guy has won, that way you wont die, you'll just be captured. At this point your attorneys can have a field day with all the laws and procedures that were broken on your apprehension.
  11. Callin all Freaks by the Crystal Method and Learn to Fly by the Foo Fighters.
  12. My personal motto: "better to be lucky than good"

  17. just checked the weather for Hinckley....windy saturday, shitty sunday. They should have a skydiver weather report: beer, illegal, and exit exit exit is all you'd need
  18. hahahahhaa i think i had heard something about marg singing...but never actually heard it.... ive sang under canopy while going through some industrial haze before.
  19. From what I understand, it will be around the whole summer. Also, they stated at safety day that they want to keep the planes going so they are gonna be sending the planes up with whoever is ready....so for example if you show up on a tuesday (and this applies to weekends too, but i doubt that DZ will ever be empty on a weekend) and theres no one else there they'll send the plane up with just you...probably not the Arava but still...i think that's pretty cool.
  20. Speaking of eating meat, my dad knows one of the guys that was in the plane crash that Alive was based on...he played rugby in college and met a few of those guys. leg of Al, anyone??
  21. I we werent supposed to eat meat, cows would run faster.

  23. Sweeeeeeeeeeetttt.... By the way, what is the record at, anyway? And is there a freefly record of some kind? blue skies Tomas
  24. Not exactly a "wahoo" but jumping around the landing area as soon as i touch down with a big-ass grin across my face whenever i hit a new plateau in freeflying. In the same vain, does anyone have any habits or superstitions (im sure there's probably been a thread on this before) you do either on the ground or on jumprun before you go. Im not talkign bout the usual gear checks or anything like that, but somethign that you gotta do or else it just doesnt seem quite right. For me, i have 2. One is with a guy named Kevin down at archway, where we post-dive before we get on the plane. The other is with FallinMarc, where we yell at each other "I cant believe we're skydiving" or "Hey Marc--We're Skydiving!!" -- this one is a kind of new one, though. blue skies Tomas
