For those who will be at morris this weekend that don't know my mug yet: My rig is a black vector 2 with gray and red in the part between the main cover and the reserve cover. I usually have light brown pants on for freeflying purposes with a gray sweatshirt.Come up and say hello or something else indicating salutations. blue skies Tomas

Yeah, that jumpsuit could be spotted a mile away. I'll also be wearing a shirt and pants and a rig.
-
Sorry. English isn't my first language so I am not good at it yet. I'll keep trying.
-
Speak in Haiku. They will know you then. I think so.
-
Like a 7 probably, since i have had a habit of taking the freefall lower than i would like.
-
So it was about 80 degrees in chicagoland today which begs me to ask the following question: Is it Saturday yet????
-
aaaaawwwww shit this should be good!!! It's looking more and more likely that i can go both days....
-
I have a write in vote for the Jared guy from the subway commercials.

It's freakin gorgeous out now....I'd be at Hinckley now if I wasnt saving my money for this weekend. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Yeah, i've been in a few tremors from when I lived in Chile, but nothing major ever happened near me.

ok, you california folk, fallingmarc and i were discussing the usual skydiving stuff and the topic of california came up and we wondered: do earthquakes count as a weather hold?
-
Well, judging by the title i think someone made their first jump after fighting morpheus. Or someone got engaged or something.

Here's my problem: I have relatives coming in from Chile this weekend. As such, i will probably only be able to escape on one day only, either saturday or sunday. It sounds like there will be more people there SUnday, but the weather looks better on Saturday according to the forecasts. My thinking is that if it is jumpable saturday i will go, because i will seriously shoot someone if i skip over saturday and then can't jump sunday. Also, because of the relative work, i wont be able to stay and play that night but i am definitely game for the kiss pass!!!! blue skies Tomas

I thought the record attempt officially is for the 4th or 5th of may at chicagoland skydiving in hinckley. this weekend is just to meet fellow dz.com-mers and stuff. i'll be there saturday probably....it depends on what the weather is like. blue skies Tomas

One thing about this: If one dropzone is cutting corners to be able to stay competitive, I don't want any part of it. it is a business, but this isn't like selling coke or pepsi...people can die in this sport. I agree that dz's try their best to make as much as possible...it's why they are in business to begin with but i think there's a limit to it. Another aspect of it: when i was president of the Falling Illini club at Illinois, I would hear sales pitches from dropzones whenver i would go to move the club from where it is now. I understand why they'd wanna do this, so if they asked and i explained i didn't wanna move the club, fine. But there was one DZ that whenever i got an email from them, or if they were on campus to do promotions (i never had a problem with this, if they wanna do promotions, that's their deal...i just always made sure they didnt use the club name) and i saw them or something i would ALWAYS hear the sales pitch. To the point where i had a negative opinion of the dz simply because they harrassed me. I never wanted to go to jump there (and i didnt till i was no longer club president) because it wouldnt be fun to skydive where every chance they got i heard their spiel on why the club should move there. Anyway, my point is that i do this for fun (like someone else mentioned) and i dont care for the politicking, and the annoyance cost them my business. blue skies Tomas ps. FallingMarc...you will be sick of it by the time you pass the torch....

Update for this weekend: For some reason I cant get through to Skydive Illinois in Morris. I dont know if they arent there or what. I am assuming the 13 dollar jumps are still on. And the weekend weather seems to be improving.....

I remember about 7 or 8 years ago, my family and I were heading back to Chile to visit and we were about to board a plane from Miami to Santiago and I saw the gate next to ours was a flight heading to Colombia an hr or two after ours left. When we got to Chile the next day (overnight flight) our relatives at the airport told us they worried for a bit cuz it turns out that an American Airlines plane from Miami to Colombia crashed into the side of a mountain after they misjudged the airport or something like that. I never found out for sure if it was that plane, but at the time we left Miami the airport was pretty deserted except for a few flights leaving then (it was like midnight) and that crash fit the flight time.... I thought it was pretty creepy at the time. But i gotta say that just missing being on one of the planes that hit on Sept. 11th is creepy as hell....wow. blue skies Tomas -
Yeah, I think Marc is right on that...the record is set for may in Hinckley. Unless it gets accidentally set this weekend.

Hey Joe, I'll post it as soon as i find out...i will call tomorrow. As of right now it's still up on their site. Last I checked the weather, it was sposed to be nicer on Saturday than Sunday, and Friday being the best day of all. Right now, I'm probably gonna try and go Saturday if it looks jumpable because Sunday may not be. But things can change as it's still really early in the week. I hope the weather gods smile down on us. blue skies Tomas
