No, I was not paying attention, Radical is NOT for person with 100 jumps, but there is another canopy Atair Dragon uses same 2 stage opening technology, and it is very docile,...

What about Atair Radical? The Radical also incorporates the Atair 2 Stage Opening Technology, originally used on the Atair Cobalt Canopy, which provides soft predictable on heading openings. This means all center cells are ported but there is no porting between 3 center cells and outher cells. In my expirience (200 jumps on Radical 135) - faster you go it opens slower.

I had excatly same dream 13 years ago when I started jumping. Only when I bounced, somehow I was ok. Problem was everybody was laughing at me after I bounced for being so stupid and cutting away to low.

Flour sock (instead of smoke can)
jerolim replied to mircan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi, I have done it with 3 kilos of flour. Opened it only under canopy, and it was barley visible from ground. And I had to kick my legs every few seconds, because flour jams hole at the bottom of flour container (plastic milk bottle). So I don't think it would be visible in FF. -
Hi, spectra schrinks after finger trapping. This are measures in centimeters (for first picture) : 0-21-22-45-47-68 So it is something like 0- 8 1/4" - 8 2/3" - 17 3/4" - 18 2/4" - 26 3/4 " in inches. You can play with this numbers maybe everything needs to be shorter a few milimeters. Anyway result will be around 22 cm = 8,5 "

I have done some reverse engineering. I have marked and disassembled old Sigma closing loop (civil). I have found that it is made in same fashion as in posted document. So you can use steps 1-10 from this document http://www.cpsworld.com/tech_pdfs/RWS/WI-038_Rev.0-Sigma1290.pdf Regarding length my closing loop (before disassembly) was 22 cm long. This is 8,75 " = 8 3/4 long ! So it looks like this markings from step 1 ( 0–7” – 7 ¾” - 15”–15 ¾”–23” ) are correct. Because final loop size will be 8 3/4". This is the math : From marks 15 3/4" to mark 7" (15 3/4" - 7" = 8 3/4") equals 8 3/4". At last picture lenght says 7 1/2" this can be true only if spectra schrinks because it wider after finger trapping !!! Any way I'll check what are my markings on old disassembled loop and I'll let you know. Stitch pattern looks like one from step 10 and I have tried to break picked thread with fish scale - it broke at 4 kilos. So, it is definitely thread is E type. Stitch pattern has to be done neatly and one has to pay attention to thread tension if you want to have smooth (less friction) loop at the end. I don't know if silicon based lubricant (from cypres kit) needs to be applied or not ?

thanks for the post - buahahahaha (evil laugh) .

You have to fold sides under,...

I think, most important is to extract and throw PC far away from your body in single motion, this prevents it from going up into its own bridle. Also NEVER hold PC in your hand after it is out of the pouch - bridle sometimes can open container and when you let go PC it can go trough the lines and under the bag and cause a bag-lock.

My concept is. Straiten the pin and do the tests from service buletin for pins (apply side force on the pin). If it passes keep it, if it bends again replace it.

Hi, During climb - first think about your tasks on following jump. After quick repeate of tasks you could try taking slow breaths in and out. Try counting to 10 (in your mind) while taking breath in and try counting 10 while breathing out, this will also slow down your pulse. When it is time to go - try to enjoy it. You can try screaming something like yeeeehaaaa while exiting. When canopy opens you can be a prowd, because definition of courages is doing something while still being scared of it.

I did a solo jump with tandem (410 sqft) canopy. It was part of tandem master training. I had a WL 0.365. Opening was not much slower. It was a half and hour ride down, it felt like paraglider ride.

what is your order of post opening procedures?
jerolim replied to jf951's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
First I unstow my toggles, route my chest strap trough reserve handle, jump, open my main, remove used condom from slider, spit (to check wind direction), try to make a collision (that is called canopy formation) and land on some people (to make a softer landing). But I always have a feeling that I am doing something wrong. -
In my opinion links belongs to canopy. So move soft links with smart reserve ,...

Somtimes if I fart during deployment I notice much better openings,... -
I have used a fish scale on last 10 reserve repacks. Largest reserve was Smart 250. Fish scale was on reserve bridle, and freebag/reserve was hanging. I was pulling on lines. In this tests force never exceeded 9 kilos.

What are you jumping from ? C-185 ?

I have latest software, and I use recommended battery brand. Battery is displayed as low as soon as inserted into Neptune. Ditter mode is fine. Altimeter under canopy looks accurate, but back light sometimes switches off. FF Altimeter mode - when I jump from Cessna's and I look at altimeter it sometimes says: "Very slow climb" during freefall it switches to altimeter after 10 seconds or more after exiting plane. Plastic battery cover broke after 3 battery replacements.

Of course, as you can see this pin is not sealed either. Because I plan to replace it. Once it is replaced it will be fitted under Type III tape.

Actually reserve closing loop is brand new, it looks bad on picture below pin, because there is a half twist in it, so it looks thinner on this picture. Check picture from the top.
