  1. Switzerland same Croatia same
  2. I am going to mention Atair Radical, good swooping machine.
  3. Great machine, but I have better - Pfaff 438
  4. I will try contacting them - thanks.
  5. I have updated my profile - I am master rigger in Croatia, and in Germany (Fallschirm Techniker). I am well aware of "call manufacturer for all concerns" principle. But what I am asking is : - does anybody got some info from manufacturer if it is allowed to replace with other type of material ? I guess not. - What is this material and where one could get it? - When it must be replaced ? - Why it is used ? I noticed there is no general rule for different manufacturers. I can see all types of cables on different rigs. I know that clear ones with metal core (aviation PVC coated) is most problematic, as coating can be broken and it can stay in closing loop. There were at leas 4 fatalities (2 incidents) with tandems with this cables. Also we had fatality on student rig there in Croatia (on static line jump) because of this issue. Problem with yellow cutaway cable is it can be suched into size 0 grommet, so if there are 2 cables of same length problem is solved. I kinda, prefered black teflon cable, but if there is a superior material for high angle bends I want to learn all about it.
  6. Thank you - I did that (via google translate ).
  7. No this is cable withut metalic core. It looks like grass trimmer plastic cable. Check attachment.
  8. It is problematic to get in touch with someone from PdF rigging department about this. They are hard to reach,..
  9. This is c/p from fb group (as nobody answered there): Is it allowed to replace clear cable on Atom Legend Tandem or Vortex2 Student static line (with direct bag), with yellow cutaway cable? Also what are benefits of clear cables over yellow and black teflnon cables? And where to get this clear cable? It is clear cable without metal core.
  10. Red Line: Everyone thinks that I love this life, that I chose THIS. Who would choose this? It's a God damn curse! Infructus! Turbo took only way out !
  11. Yes, there was one model on ebay from Ucraine (if I remember correctly) without crimp. Also there was base cutaway (intentional cutaway with 2 base canopies) incident and cutaway handle failed in this manner (i guess also missing crimp).
  12. Thanks Jerry, I purchased second one;) I ment for main ripcord for student spring loaded PC's.
  13. Would this https://www.ebay.com/itm/IWISS-Wire-Rope-Crimping-Tool-for-Copper-and-Aluminum-Oval-Sleeves-and-Stop-From/302216512947?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649 ( Crimping Range : 1/16 "to 1/8 " ) or this https://www.ebay.com/itm/AIRCRAFT-TOOLS-NEW-CABLE-SWAGE-SWAGING-TOOL-IDEAL-FOR-MECHANICS/122019312175?hash=item1c68eaf22f:g:NmMAAOSwqu9VEBRy be good for crimping oval sleeves for main ripcords and cutaway ripcords ? Thank you.
  14. We tried to remove 20 year old rule here in Croatia, but in a controlled and safe way. So I wanted to make sure reserve would still function in following scenarios: 1) Can fly and land normally / Design is not obsolete - Someone can easily stall reserve on landing resulting in minor or major injuries. Also some models wouldn't allow jumper to glide back to DZ and there is bigger chance of off DZ landings. Solution :There would be a list of models that would allow some models to be allowed to be used after 20 years. This list would exclude 5 cells, lasers, and older obscure models. 2) Cypres activation - After number of pack jobs, porosity of fabric increases, reserves after number of packjobs start to open more slowly. There is a possibility that old reserve will not open in time in case of aad activation. Solution would be that each reserve after 25 pack jobs or 20 years or older should be tested with porosimeter. I have contacted http://www.porosimeter.hu , but they told me that they do not offer device for measuring skydiving canopies yet. 3) High speed activation - Reserve should "survive" high speed opening. To assure this each reserve must have bottom skin spanwise reinforcement (controlled by list of allowed reserves mentioned in scenario 1.), and pull test must be done to insure fabric can withstand opening forces. As I failed to find and obtain field/cheap porosimeter this proposal for law change was not yet sent.
  15. I know, that you are one of most knowledgeable riggers and I respect that. But, after reading your post I get a feeling like I said something untrue. But I didn't, you only told more detailed story (as I was to lazy to do so) ;). HMA/Technora is also softer and I think that it would create similar friction to slider grommets as spectra (and this way one could get similar opening as with original spectra lineset). This is only my opinion and preference. I like HMA more than vectran,...
  16. Why don't you try HMA lines instead? It is trim stable, lasts bit longer than vectran and it is not so abrasive to slider grommets,...
  17. Actually I have found it on zodiac pages. It is in manual of Atom Legend Tandem H/C. On the last page.
  18. Hi riggers, I am looking for BT-80 (version 2,from 2013, with spectra line set) and Galaxy line trim chart. I have googled for BT-80 and Galaxy (Parachutes de France, Aerazur, Zodiac, etc.) for line trim chart but with no luck. Also, is there any person that can be contacted for spare parts (I don't need anything but it is good to know) ? Thanks.
  19. Hi, I am looking for 2 different materials in Europe. 1. What stiff fabric can be used as stiff (middle) layer in some container surfaces ? E.g. under mud flap to prevent wrinkles. What I had was some extra stiff white fabric with grid structure. But I am all out of that. Parachute Rigger Handbook mentiones PIA-C-3953, class2 material (basket weave) 2.Where do you get cypres window transparent plastic? Thanks.
  20. And I get that tollerance with bigger reserve. The one that is inside is way to small for this rig. Bigger reserve sorts this on this rig. So this rig has limitation regarding minimum alowed reserve size. Of course on next one (after I heal mentaly from this one), riser covers will be narower
  21. I am very well aware of that!!! This is serious stuff !! I also belive that Harrness/Container is most important part of equipment. Main and reserve will probably open and fly well in some configuration at least. But H/C is peace of equipment that decides if main will open prematurely, will it open when you want it to (pouch too tight, pilot chute to small to inflate, pin piecing bridle, grommets locking up, etc), will cutaway system stay connected until you use it, and will it disconnect when needed (geometry, of rings, webbing elongation, size of handle pouch, housing type, cutaway excess length, etc.), will reserve open after pulling silver (snag points, extraction forces, different extraction angles, reserve pilot chute size, types of springs/coils, coil lockups, uretane coating, etc). However I am sorf of rigging maniac, when known SB are mentioned. And I tried to intergrate all known history of issues into this rig, even it doesn't look that way from my first post. I wanted this rig to not have any of already cured illnesses. Also there other things that are not in SB's but they are common sence (and I took care of it), and I am scared of some designs that are TSO certified and compleatly legal. I have even called some manufacurers about some concerns about their equipment, but common answer was "It works in the field, and numbers are confirming it", but devil is in details. We can talk privatley about each part, and why I choose such design for each part. TSO is very crude way that someting will not get ripped under some conditions. That one will not fall out simply from harder opening. It doesn't concider snag points, grommet positioning or probability of stiffener piercing trough cordura or parapack. So, TSO is shitty way of confirming that some rig is ok or not. Regarding harness - yes design is same as with others (4 point WW with box, wrapped) so breaking force should be smilar to other manufacurers. I got my thread from paragear. Yes I have specs on it. And when I hear for a problem that is found in the world, I will surely try to see if it affects mine equipment as well. Hardware is also from paragear and I am aware about hardware recall that Parachute Systems had. What I really don't like in skydiving industry is when one manufacturer issues SB and other are pretending blind ,instead correcting same problem on their product as well. And that is really sad when some one of our brothers dies from well known prolem, eather from rigger who didn't implement SB, or from manufacturer who ignored known problem with own design, as it happened to somebody else's rig.
  22. Actually I have tried this and measured extraction force with 2 reserves (packed main was Silhouette 170): Minimax 5 around 180 sqft, and MT 150 (predecessor of Quick 150). And extraction force for freebag was never above 8 kilos regardles of angle (0 degrees = towards jumpers head to 90 degrees = straight up).
