NEW VIDEO: Altitude Awareness
jerolim replied to BrianSGermain's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Great video. I would mention one more thing (except temperature and brightness) - horizon. Something "happens" with horizon below 4000 ft. Under 4000 ft, when you look in front of you see more of earth than usual. Like horizon line is pulled much more in front of you, this is also a strong reminder that you have to stop playing and track for your live. On higher altitudes horizon is something really below you, but under 4000 it really pokes you in the eye ;) If you go under 2000 ft in freefall, ground starts to rush at you and you can determine the place where you would impact. I had a lot of jumps with super fast opening accuracy rig, and years ago we were allowed to deploy at 1700 ft, so I know,... -
According to parachute riggers handbook. You should have 7-11 stiches per inch. If there are dropped stitches on reserve I would rather overstitch it. Only Master Parachute Rigger can repair this.

Slider's reinforced side must face canopy. If it is facing risers, it is incorrectly assembled.

Hi, I have heard (correct me if I am wrong), that in some number of cases, that skyhook disconnects, and reserve is deployed only by reserve PC. I am not talking about total mal. I am talking about partial main malfunction, and after cutaway handle is pulled, shorter RSL bridle pulls reserve pin, reserve PC launches, and this res. PC launch force actually sometimes disconnects skyhook lanyard from skyhook, and reserve PC has to take over and deploy reserve. As I have understanded fix for this was red seal thread, but it still happens sometimes. Can you tell us how often this can happen in percentages, and is this reason why you said that skyhook should not be justification for someone to lower hard deck altitude and to cutaway lower than usual? Regards, Jerolim

I have packed Smart 150 in Icon I4, and it was very tight. I can't find cuin volume for PD 143R, but to me it feels like PD packs smaller than same sized Smart, so it should be possible but very tight. To be sure call aerodyne and confirm with them.

So, no one can tell from this specs,... Also where factories buy line from ? There must be something else than paragear ?
-
Hi riggers, can this spectra be used for canopies : http://estore.twinline-usa.com/products/braided-spectra-1000-lb-spools I know this is 1000 lb (it will be used for soft links manufacture - DINX). Just trying to confirm that this is same 1000 lb spectra as one from paragear. Thanks

Hi Riggers, I have purchased 1983 durkopp (made in east Germany) industrial machine that is capable of sewing strait and zigzag stitch. I have been playing with E and F cords, and with needles 100 - 140 (singer #16-#22). I have been able to punch trough everything so far. I have put(squeezed) 10 layers of webbing under foot. And with 140 and F type it produced great zigzag stitch without any effort. I was wondering if it could work with cord type 5 thread, and I am ordering some from paragear. I aim for 4 layers of type 7 webbing and cord type 5 thread. But I am having problems finding needle larger than 160 (singer #23). Where can I buy 230 (singer #26) in Europe ? Do I really need 230 size to work with cord type 5 ? I have asked machine service they never heard of this needle,.. Needle system is 134(R). Also, I am putting speed reducer and I'll produce even more torque Thanks in advance!

I have tried with Chris@airspeed.org, but they don't have it any more,...

Hi, does anyone have to sell a Skydive 499: 4-Way Techniques video ? PM me,..

I am looking for versatile machine that can do most of repairs on container. It would be nice if it could repair harness also. As, I already own light machine for canopy patching. This is why LSZ-1 is interesting to me. If it can't use cord 5, and I can repair everything else with "E"- type it is also good for me. Other things I have to consider are that LSZ-1 has a model with European motor (220 volts), and it is cheaper to ship to EU as I don't have to ship entire working table,...
-
What do you think about this machine for medium heavy duty jobs on harness ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2sdGz7C2aA&list=PL8F30F1F0E629B315
-
Oh sorry, English is not my mother language,.. Was this container cordura or parapack? Did you connect it on harness with this machine ? Somebody said that 401 can go trough trouser leather belt,... I was trying to find out what was this machine capable of. As I already have E thread machine (ex. Yugoslavian Bagat), that can go trough a lot of stuff, but it struggles with 3-4 layers of PC bridle for example, so there is a lot of stuff that I can't repair with it. I am looking for stronger machine to purchase somewhere from Europe (to reduce shipping costs),..

This machine works well with type 5 thread and sews trough type 7 webbing ?

Loose chest strap/Cypres fire.
jerolim replied to CSpenceFLY's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
As a matter of fact, I have done my first jumps on rounds with B-12 on cheststrap. And if you leave them bit loose and open from stupid position (head low), you will get B-12 snap in your teath (like I did),.. -
