Speak concise sentences and take a moment to answer their questions. . You make it sound like he's giving a deposition. When talking to the media.. in some ways you are. Unless you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth (except when your twisted version thereof attracts more viewers), you'll be in the deep cacky.... Speak concise sentences and take a moment to answer their questions. Otherwise you risk getting cut off in mid sentence by the almighty editors. Don't use sarcasm. If you say something like "Do you think we sit around and drink beer before the jump?" the bolded part is the only thing they'll broadcast. You know how the media like to twist stuff... Now. Let's have that popcorn. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

You DO know that you have to increase the firing altitude of your cypres by 100 feet every 3.5 months (or 2.8 months for cypres2) to compensate for slower activation induced by loss of battery charge, don't you? A friend of mine who works in ICT once told me a story of how they went and did a routine check of every PC in a certain department. Since passwords are hard to remember, some employees turned out to have written them down and hidden in the last place anyone would look, e.g. under their keyboards. The ICT department turned up no less than five passwords that way. Ever since, I have had a post-it under my keyboard upon which is written: "I ain't that stupid - Keep looking..." Do you disconnect your RSL when shooting video?
Baksteen replied to ridestrong's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Nor do I. I don't have an RSL neither. Seriously, VB - try and keep up will you? "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom -

The reason why even experienced people are so reluctant to give you advice is because they cannot check over the I-net how that information arrives in a student's head... which might result in an instructor having to 'unlearn' a student something - very hard to do. This is not a slur on you personally, it's impossible to judge anyones personality/character based only on less than ten posts on DZ.com. Go complete your ground school and first jump and tell us how it was. But don't forget to hang around after the jumping is done and talk to the other skydivers at the DZ.

We have a winner! When I tried this one out for shits and giggles, I got the following response: "Yes. Download and play German Schlager music at all hours. It's okay in moderation, but after a while it'll get on your nerves. Besides that, an artist of special interest would be a dutch singer called Frans Bauer.. It's risky, but if a person was seizure-free on stable medications for a year ( or what is required in your state to get a driver's license ) and used an AAD, then you might consider it. Avoid things that precipitate seizures, such as fatique, sleep deprivation, etc. Still very risky and epilepsy is disqualifying for a pilot's medical certificate. I wouldn't recommend it, except as a tandem passenger, unless you and the DZO were willing to accept the risk of becoming incapacitated after leaving the AC. Perhaps others with experience in this area will disagree. Good post (emphasis mine). What DOES precipitate the seizures in the would be-skydiver? It's never smart to skydive after sleep deprivation and the other things mentioned, but you also need to consider the fact that epilepsy is different for every individual. What type of seizures does the person experience? What triggers the seiuzures? Are they sensitive to flashing lights? Loud noises? Stress? How long are they seizure free? Are they allowed (medically, not necessary legally) to drive a car? Do they take meds? How much and with what frequency? Are they experiencing any side effects of said meds? If it was me, I'd not jump without the AAD but simply transfer the spare main to my rig, have my reserve repacked. ETA: I could even rent some student gear in the mean time to minimise down time.
