Monkey HBD dude thanks for all the help and input this year -
I'd say the best you can do is let it out and keep moving forward No one can help you late at night when you're staring at the ceiling alone. Just remember the good times and know that your are not alone, a lot of people love YOU and Lee and that does not change in his absence. Help! I need freefall speed information please!
Fozz replied to imstu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Michael is correct! I did a project like this with a kids science club of 8 th graders years ago we used a flood light underneath the students on a board (arched , sit, stand) between 2 desks and had the kids trace each others shadow on butcher paper then calculated basic surface area of each position and correlated it with difference in speed for each position they went to 2 different DZs and collected data and asked for specific dive and data and even measured some of the divers who were very cooperative and the kids came up with some great curves on surface area vs speed John Fosgate "In the end, its always best to choose the hard right over the easy wrong." I have been a licensed Road Racer for 22 years (since I quit skydiving the first time in 1984-5 cough cough) and held an AM 250 GP Pro license for a couple of years I started skydiving again in Jan 07 and its been a blast! The rush is different a 20 min sprint race offers time to recover from small errors and the focus required is a lot like a good 8 way but so much longer and in some ways much harder. In a race its all you. In a good multi-way the teamwork and result is an all together different rush. I also dirt bike in the off season as much as I can getaway with I had about 17 friends go for tandems and a few have gone on to AFF I get to shadow a few as I'm getting ready to learn to fly camera. Skydiving is MUCH cheaper than racing and I can do it whenever I want as opposed to waiting for a race weekend once a month I've also found skydiving to be a bit more social I think due to the competitive nature of racing. That was Darrel Greenamyer (SP?) and Red Baron Aviation I think. They spent months rebuilding (installing new motors etc.)on the ice only to lose it shortly before takeoff in a taxi test I think. It was a huge loss the plane was a puddle by the time it burned out It was believed to be the best complete sample ever found abandoned. He was also the first/ only guy to own an F104 starfighter??? as a civilian A very talented man and pilot John Fosgate "In the end, its always best to choose the hard right over the easy wrong." Karen Knowing full well we can't go back and must keep moving forward. I learned many years ago that the friends I've lost racing and riding motorcycles still leave holes in my life, BUT, if I put myself in the position of asking what my friends would want for me after their tragedy or what I'd want for my friends if it was me. My racer friends would want me to keep racing and remember the good times. They would say “call, or get together with our mutual friends and remember the GOOD things, cherish them, tell a story about me that makes people laugh.” If it ever happens to me I want you all to know you made my life a better place to be and that my friends are the greatest gift I've ever had, the ones I've had for 25 years, and the ones I've made in the last 10 months. Keep doing what you love and smile for me when I cross your mind, share a happy moment remember me with a smile Karen I can't help but think they would want this for you and all the friends who are having to process this now that the quite time and the dark are here. Having said that I would say to all "Sometimes tomorrow never comes so be your best self today! say the things you feel to the people who matter! you may not get another chance."
